Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V Ep 26 Img 0018Yuuya manages to turn the tables by catching Gongenzaka off guard by not just surprising him once but twice. It was quite cool to see Yuuya push himself to experiment with different ways use his new technique: Pendulum Fusion. What made it made it quite exciting to watch was seeing the evolution. He summoned Rune-Eyes Dragon and then later with the help of Trump Witch made by resorting to Fusion once more, together with Entermate Silver Claw, Rune-Eyes Dragon was able to evolve to Beast-Eyes Dragon! However this duel showed us something. There is a huge potential for Yuuya to learn all of the summoning techniques, which will continue to take his Pendulum Summon to the next level. Now thanks to Reiji, we already knew that the chances of Yuuya learning all of the summoning techniques were high, but I think it was this episode solidified it. The question now is whether or not Odd-Eyes Dragon is going to be the only only pampered with all of these different evolutionary forms. While every protagonist had that one ace monster they will ultimately help them win, I would certainly like to see another monster be given the opportunity for evolution- but I won’t hold my breath for it just yet.
Admittedly, one of the pet-peeves I have with the Yu-Gi-Oh series is how even though the protagonist only has less than five hundred life-points and has to make a gamble, you already know that there is a 99% chance that they will succeed. And when that happens, it takes away the feeling of something at stake- not that anything felt like it was at stake in this duel despite its circumstances. It’s not that I wanted Yuuya to lose today (it certainly would have only created problems since they need the second arc to begin next week: The Tournament), but sometime in the future, I would like to see a gamble fail him or suffer a defeat because we all know that “Plot-Armor” can be used too often (which was one of the biggest flaws in YGO 5Ds).
Another thing that bothered me a bit today was that it felt if this duel was rushed through too much. Last week Yuuya was in this horrible place of self-doubt and torn about defeating his friend, but then BAM, like literally three seconds into the episode, he managed to pull himself together. I am not going to lie, while I was certainly expecting to see Yuuya pull through, I felt that they maybe did it too quickly? Otherwise, we are to simply accept that Gongenzaka’s surprise of Synchro Summoning inspired Yuuya to fight wholeheartedly.
Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V Ep 26 Img 0023Now that the tournament is about to begin, we have learned that Reiji has an ulterior motive. The project Reiji is undergoing is called the Lancers Selection, to select and recruit the most promising duelists to join them for their fight for their world. This makes me very curious to see whether or not this fight that Reiji has been meticulously preparing for is similar to what Shun and Yuuto have already gone through. Who is the the enemy? Is it Reiji’s father, Akaba Leo? Could it be that the man is up to no good and Reiji knows that the only way to take him down, is to have a team? Or is it a different enemy who we have yet to meet? Either way I am looking forward to seeing this unfold, ESPECIALLY since Shun will be (as I expected) participating in the tournament. Oh man- wouldn’t it be glorious to see him go against Yuzu? Just for the sake of angst!!! KEKEKEKEKE!!!
But I won’t lie, I’d like to see him duel Yuuya too, heehee.
With Shun participating in the tournament, I wonder what Yuuto will be up to. It doesn’t look like he will be competing… If anything, I expect him to be lurking in the shadows (as per usual) doing some background investigation, maybe even infiltrate LDS during the tournament to gather more details.
Oh and for the LDS Aces Trio, they were spared, but their memories of their duel with Shun has been erased. Not sure why he bothered doing that… But whatever.
Next week, I am expecting a new OP and ED now that the second arc will kick off (usually happens at Episode 27) and lets see the tournament unfold! I hope I am wrong, but it looks like the Shivers~ kid might be getting a turn in the spotlight…

According to rumors new OP and ED will debut in November (so around 30th episode). For now unnamed OP will be performed once again by Bullet Train and ED named “Future Fighter!” will be performed by Yuuya’s and Reiji’s voice actors.

I too want to see Yuzu and Shun interacting next episode!
The cg is distracting, I wish they just applied the cg to rune/beast eyes and left Yuya hand draw, he looks weird in cg, but yeah must be only me.
I did feel that the duel was too short, but to make up for that Yuya pendulum summoned without his magicians!Holy Sh*t that was unexpected XD, it’s nice to see a pendulym monster with a decent scale, because most of his monsters have Low levels it isn’t a big issue, and it’s good to know that with the hippo Yuya can manage to summon Odd Eyes/Hammer Mamoth even if he doesn’t have high scales.
I’m pretty sure that Reiji wiped their memories because if they saw Shun they would totally freak out.
There’s something I was wondering ever since I saw Yuzu’s cards scattered: She had a field spell(Santuary in the Sky), so there’s a chance that the tournament won’t use Action fields or there’s even the possibility of a player changing the action field with a spell field, it would be nice to see field spells comming back!
I particulaly like Gongenzaka’s ace, it’s a pretty broken ability depending of the spell your enemy uses and isn’t Action Field as I feared

I absolutely agree with the CG ; v ;||| Ugh but for now lets be grateful that not all monsters are in CG *SOBS* Ugh… I MISS THE EPIC TRADITIONALLY DRAWN DRAGONS!!!! YGO 5Ds had a fairly good balance with the CG and traditional animation, it makes me sad that they didn’t continue that into ZEXAL and Arc-V as we have seen, almost every dragon and ace monsters are CG animated nowadays.

OHOHOHOHOHO NOW THAT IS SOMETHING I WOULD LOVEEEEE TO SEE! 8D I wonder if the Action Cards (if it’s an Action Duel) would be affected? That would be very fun and interesting to see!

I loved this Episode! It’s nice to see everyone is getting stronger. Yuzu learned Fusion Summoning, then Gongenzaka learned Synchro Summoning and Yuya learned Fusion Summoning. I loved the part where Yuya did two Fusion Summonings in one Episode! I can’t believe Reiji did that to the three LSD Students wiping their minds clean like that of Shun. It makes me wonder if Reiji will brainwash Yuya and others to join his team if they refuse to do it because if Reiji can wipe the LSD Students minds he surely could brainwash someone. Well it’s too bad that Yuto won’t be in the tournament but Yuto couldn’t be in the tournament if he wanted to be anyways because every time he goes around Yuzu and then Yuya shows up he gets teleported away from them. So as long as Yuya is around Yuzu, Yuto can’t be anywhere near them without being teleported away. I would like to know why that happen, hopefully we will get that question answered soon.
