Oh boy! More dancing? Oh no wait. SOME dancing…but mostly talking. Well um.. I GUESS that could be okay? Maybe?
So the episode starts out with Kanon and Haneru practicing after their loss to Tribal Soul. Kanon suggests they try a practice called isolation.
Basically isolation is a dance exercise where you only move one part of the body at a time, practicing at it and getting better at it. Haneru doesn’t think he needs this because he thinks he’s the shit, but Kanon convinces him.
Meanwhile Yazaru is watching one of Kanon’s rhythm videos and immediately recognizes rhythm as Kanon. Wanting to know where she could be, he knows the painting that she’s dancing in front of and where it is. Going to the location, they immediately track them down.
Yazaru and…um…that girl who’s not Kanon (Fuck i’m bad with names) decide to have a tea party with them and help them out in their isolation training. They learn things such as how to move their necks side to side and how to thrust…etc.
Eventually they leave hoping what they taught Haneru and Kanon will help them dance better. And…that’s basically where the episode ends.
Yeah…honestly not a whole lot happened in this episode. The vast majority of it was them learning how to use isolation and only move certain parts of their body as Haneru, while having potential, can’t feel the rhythm correctly.
How should I put this. While hardly anything happened, it doesn’t make it a bad episode. It’s just…hard to recap this one. There were a lot of little things such as small jokes that were there and gone in 2o seconds, and had no real effect on the story but were cute.
The only other thing that happens in this episode is that we see that Yazaru has not always been part of the group. At first is was just the guy and girl, but the guy was intrigued by Yazaru and challenged him to a dance battle. Ever since then they’re been a team.
There’s a lot of small stuff that pops up in this show. From jokes to nuances to the way that the characters interact. Certainly it’s no Miyazaki masterpiece, but there’s a certain honesty about this show, and it makes me want to keep coming back for more.
If you’re looking for an episode where a lot of shit happened…well i’m sorry look somewhere else. Also, that’s why this post is a bit short. Honestly, not a whole lot happened. But hey, if you like training episodes then fuck you’re in for a real treat.
This isn’t the best episode of ANYTHING, but it was pleasant. However, if you like plot, if you skipped this episode, you wouldn’t miss a single thing.
Episode 5.5/10
