I cannot believe I’m saying this, but…here I am reviewing another episode of Tribe Cool Crew. Now if you would have asked me 3 weeks ago if I was going to touch this show, I would have laughed. But that was of course before I saw Ushiwareta (shudders). However, I have to say, this damn show’s grown on me.
So the episode starts up with the dance battle from last time starting up. It’s going to be a 2 on 2 so the fat guy ends up sitting this one out and being the announcer.
They decide to dance off to Jey’s songs because apparently he’s a famous dancer everybody loves. The first guy starts busting some moves
Haneru gets up there and dances his little CGI heart out.
Next up is the busty chick whose name I can’t remember…
Ah. yes. Mizuki. Thank you random screens that popped up when they announce them! you’re very helpful.
So she begins to dance and she’s very fluid and graceful.
Finally it’s Kanon’s turn, and despite her shyness actually does very well. However, when the audience is asked to cheer for the winner it’s clear that Tribal Soul (aka NOT Haneru’s team) won. The reason is apparently that they didn’t feel the rhythm and dance with it enough so they didn’t feel the music flow within them. But they have enough raw talent that they are invited to try out for the dancing competition that is coming up.
Kanon realizes her true passion for dancing in front of people and decides to join up with Haneru and become a team.
So yes, if you couldn’t guess it’s one of those “The main characters have a lot of raw talent but don’t know how to focus it so even though they have strong potential, they need help.” (for an example see every shonen ever).
The episode ends with that moonwalking guy from last time …. but this time as a clown.
Why he’s dressed as a clown, I have absolutely no idea. And yes, before you ask, that clown is moonwalking. He talks about how they will soon become amazing and how he wants to see it. And that’s basically where the episode ends.
This show. Man, this show. It’s like…. I don’t know why I DO like it, but I actually find myself excited for every episode that comes out. I WANT to see them get better at dancing. I WANT to see them achieve their dreams. By all accounts, there should be no reason why I enjoy this show. Half of it is dancing, and the other half is people talking about how much they like dancing. But at the same time, I never find myself getting bored.
Even though the art style is strange compared to most shows I watch, besides the weird red fingers they have, I really don’t mind. Heck, I’m even STARTING to get used to the weird CGI dancing.
I guess it just doesn’t jar me as much as it did in the first two episodes.
I know I’ve said this before, but there is just some kind of infectious energy from this show. When you watch it, you just get absorbed into it as you just sit back and enjoy people doing what they love. It’s kind of hypnotizing actually. There’s no gundams, no aliens, no love triangle, just dancing and people wanting to get better at it. And… I can’t really fault the show for that. It doesn’t feel it NEEDS a gimmick. Sure they’re going a bit far with the “Feel of the rhythm” thing, but it actually does make sense.
I want to see more and the only reason I’m annoyed is because they aren’t a team yet. Wait. How do i know that they’re going to be a team? Well, Haneru’s Team is called Cool Crew and the other teams’ name is Tribal Soul. Coincidence? Don’t think so. I can’t WAIT for these 5 to join up. it will definitely be epic.
Episode 7.5/10
Enough talk, LET’S DANCE!
