Because sometimes, you just need to fart around and have a shopping montage.
Where did that little random blurb come from? Why from Shirobako of course! But…where does shopping come in to play in a show about making anime? Well let me tell you a story.
So the episode opens up with the voice actress girl of the group going to an audition for an anime role. (And honestly, the title she’s auditioning for it fucking hilarious)
Before she goes in, she sees a super famous and popular voice actress is auditioning as well. With all this pressure she gets nervous and (what she thinks) blows the audition.
Afterwards we learn that all the girls form high school are going to get together and have a good time. And that of course is when we get our SHOPPING MONTAGE!
The day ends with them going to a bar and basically talking about all their troubles with work. The voice actor girl gets drunk and they all go home.
One thing I’ve forgotten to mention is during the course of her day off, that one annoying guy from the studio keeps calling her asking for her help. But he was doing it in such an obnoxious way she kept hanging up on him.
We find out the reason for that the next day when we learn that the guy who said he’d take care of episode 8 animation is quitting the episode.
End of episode.
So, this episode really only had any sort of plot in the beginning. The girl goes for a voice actor audition, thinks she messes it up (we don’t know if she actually did yet) and after that the rest of the episode is just them farting around town having fun. I don’t normally mind this kind of thing but I found it a bit weird that this is the fourth episode of the series and they’re already taking a break from the action.
It seemed to me almost as if this episode where filler. All we learned in this episode is that the girls really want their careers in anime to work out and that the main girl doesn’t know quite what in anime she wants to exactly DO.
Normally in this show there’s so much content that i’m hard pressed to pick and choose which is the most important stuff. oddly enough i had the OPPOSITE problem in this episode.
Hardly anything happens so it was hard to make a recap where it seemed like anything DID happen. After the audition, it is literally 8 minutes of them just hanging around talking. There’s not much really to say about that.
This review’s going to be a bit short cause well…..there’s not a whole lot to talk about. Oh yeah. and the director hasn’t done all his work yet. Because he’s lazy. There’s that too.
The episode was….okay but there’s nothing to speak about. No revelations came to pass, no big events happened in the episode, it was literally just about showing how the girls are still friends and have their dreams.
I can’t even think of anything else to say about this episode. If you skipped it, you really wouldn’t miss anything. It’s a filler in the broadest sense of the term. It fills in an episode with mainly non-plot related content.
Lol. they put on hats! okay cool. now what?
So…meh. It was cute, but it didn’t do anything. I want to give every episode of this show a high sc0re, but it’s hard to give it to NOTHING.
5/10
DO SOMETHING NEXT EPISODE!
