Well it looks like it’s that time of the week again for the animeception show. Still, I can’t say that I don’t look forward to it, because I do. The only thing that’s hard about this show, is the recap. (Rolls up sleeves) But lets see what we got.
So the episode starts up pretty much where last episode left off. They’re behind in episode 4 because the director wants them to reshoot a scene as he thinks the animation was off. And then the episode is largely the main character freaking out over stress. Because there’s a lot of it.
Between needing the new artwork, scheduling everything, running to get new edits and keeping everybody up to date on the status of the episode, it’s more than she can handle for her first production.
And then on top of that, the server crashes so they can’t access the color files to color in the characters.
Regardless, after all the issues they face, they manage to finish the episode, complete with new reveal scene, and it looks fantastic.
And that’s basically the end of the episode.
This is by far the hardest show I have to recap. Normally in a show, stuff happens that you can talk about easily. It’s easy to recap how a guy shoots a guy with an arrow or how duck face beats up thugs. But it’s very hard to do that with this show. There’s so many things that happen, but they’re not something you would talk about in recap.
For example, one of the five girls from high school at one point wants to watch an experienced animator at work. It’s an interesting 30 second part of the episode, but you normally wouldn’t throw it in a recap.
This is truly one of those shows you just have to watch. It’s strange because it’s not really a show that even CAN be spoiled. The strength of this show is not the plot, but moreso, the interactions between the different characters.
There’s no overarching villain, there’s no unrequited love or love triangle, it’s simply a show about interaction and the lives these people lead. And to me, that’s actually extremely interesting. Like I said, the only issue is, it makes it a bitch to explain the episode summary.
There are still WAY too many people in this show. I will never be able to remember these people’s names. Hell, I don’t even know the main character’s name. Although there may be a slough of people, and I don’t even know all of them yet, They are definitely beginning to grow on me, and there’s really no character I flat out hate. I do want to see this girl succeed, seeing all the work and effort she puts into her dream.
If anything, this show really puts a fire in me to work hard towards MY dream. To do what I want to do. It isn’t often that an anime makes me truly want to be better than I am, but this show does it quite nicely.
There aren’t a crazy amount of laughs, there’s no real set plot, but there is a plot at the same time. It’s very hard to explain. This is a show, that even if you think it won’t be your cup of tea, just watch it, even to know what i’m talking about.
This episode, while basically being about just finishing an episode actually had me worried for the characters even though I knew they’d be fine. That’s the kind of power this show has.
Very interested in continuing this show, and I hope the future episodes will be as good as this one. (also here’s hoping the other 4 get more screen time)
Episode 7.5/10

It was so funny when Endou-san was talking to herself as her plushie voices when she was washing the dishes… xD And like you said, this show kind of motivates me!
When the end of the episode showed the remake of that scene though….that was amazing. Personally I could really see the difference, and I liked the newer version much better!! That moe character (forgot her name) looked so much more anguished and not simply super-kawaii. I was kind of moved, actually… ;_;
