So last season of Psycho Pass left us on a whirlwind of emotions and feelings. The Re-edit did an even better job. But you know how new seasons are, they have to build momentum and ease you into the bad things that will hap- IS THAT A FUCKING BOMB?
We jumped HEAD FIRST into this season with a major case by the new leading officer of the MWPSB Squad 1, Akane Tsunemori. There have been a series of bombings in the town and stress levels are increasing. Right off the bat it’s easy to see that Akane is now using her full intelligence and analyzing every situation in order to bring about the most effective performance. I wanted to cry seeing her become this hardened person and I could tell right away even on the first episode it was going to be a whirlwind of feelings. ALL THE FUCKING FEELINGS!
The premise of this situation is a man who has intellect but is prevented from moving up because his hue clouds too easily. He is setting up bombs and trying to make people think about the things they’re going through. Funnily enough, there seems to be a lot of weird situations going on that are preventing it from being a cut and dry case. Eventually the MWPSB has to pursue on foot, but Akane is very careful in how she allows the other teams and her own Enforcers to move forward. Sadly, Akane’s new partner is pretty terrible. I don’t mean she is a ditz, I mean she is a self absorbed self righteous bitch who thinks she knows more about anything than anyone else.
I think this season my least favorite character is already going to be this girl. I am going to wait ON BATED BREATH FOR HER TO BE KNOCKED DOWN A PEG. HEY WHY DON’T WE LET HER BEST FRIEND GET MURDERED IN FRONT OF HER AND SEE HOW HAUGHTY SHE IS????
Akane shows she is going to be true to herself this season when she refuses to let ANYONE kill the suspect because he is almost under 300 and therefore almost a paralyze and not kill. It was really moving to see her fight to not kill someone. And you know what else? The other team with hers tries to kill him and Ginoza POINTS AT HIM WITH HIS DOMINATOR. LIKE. I FUCKING THINK NOT YOU SHIT. I’M STICKING UP FOR MY FRIEND. I never really ship these two because at this point their friendship is the last shred of familiarity and companionship left. FUCK UROBUTCHER MIGHT KILL SOMEONE, MAYBE GINO. FUCK.
They eventually get him to calm down and shoot him , and Akane’s fellow inspector is PISSED and insists she is wrong. I cannot begin to explain to you how fucking infuriating this little shit fuck is. She is probably indignant due to loss or pain and you know what? Fuck her. She has never had to see the system fail her as her friend was murdered in front of her. She has never had to spare the life of the man who did it in order to save the person she admires the most. FUCK this little bitch and until she is mindfucked to some GODDAMN sense I have NO INTEREST IN HER.
The new enforcers are interesting to me, one of them being shy and one of them being a hot older dude. If the opening and my taste in men means anything then he is so spit evil I will probably hate him. He might be a pawn of the sybil system from the way the opening makes him look, sent to watch Akane. If that’s so, I both hate him and find this new face attractive in a way that disturbs me. I have issues. WHY AREN’T YOU HERE ANYMORE MAKISHIMA BABU?!
But if all of this wasn’t enough of a stinger, the ending is THE WORST. One of the teams who went after the culprits fake hostage (who was seemingly a hologram) go after her. The unthinkable happens as a culprit who is quite real appears and restrains the Inspector on duty, and as the Enforcer with her points his dominator at him. . . it shows another Inspector is holding him and pointing a dominator right at him.
SHIT. SHIT. FUCK. FUCK. OUR VILLAIN THIS SEASON IS AN INSPECTOR? MAYBE ANOTHER LIKE MAKISHIMA WHO IS TRYING TO CHANGE IT FROM THE INSIDE? SHIT FUCKING TITTIES. I CANT. THIS SEASON. GUYS. ITS AMAZING. THIS IS ALREADY PERFECTION. GIVE IT TO ME GIVE IT TO ME (INSERT STEPHEN COLBERT GIF) Akane spends SO MUCH of this episode showing she wants to surpass the corrupt system and be good to herself and her job, can she do it? Can she beat an opponent from the inside. . .and what’s his goal?
I am WATCHING THIS. ALREADY IT IS STRONGER THAN EVERY WEAK EPISODE OF SEASON 1 AND IT’S ONLY A FREAKIN’ PREMIERE EPISODE!
I’M SHITTING MY PANTS! IT SHALL BE BLOGGED!!!!!
Oki
Everything you said! (I was seriously touched when Gino pointed the Dominator at that other guy) AND, I’m pretty sure that was Kougami we saw in the OP?! It better be Kougami, because I need some more Kougami x Akane action pls ;_;
Also yeah I am really pissed at Inspector Shimotsuki right now, with her self righteousness. I was shocked to hear that she’s already been an Inspector for a year and a half, yet she still views the Enforcers as ANIMALS (former Gino mindset) and thinks Akane is wrong for trying to prevent needless deaths. It’s evident that 1) she has little to no respect for Akane’s judgment, and 2) she basically worships Sybil. She even said something like “Sybil judged that man could die,” my ass.
But I’m hoping (and pretty sure) she’ll mature and eventually understand the way Akane thinks. Like Gino said, it’s hard not to start thinking like Akane if you hang around her long enough!
And as much as I hated Makishima, I felt hollow watching PP2 without him there.. T_T
Makishima was in a league of his own but the show was never about him – it’s about Akane.
Which is why I didn’t stop watching, I loved Makishima but it was never just him. It was the contrast between himself, Akane, and Kogami, and Akane’s life trying to adjust between a war against all she knows to be right held by two men
Mika is just…ugh…she’s a casualty of Shogo Makishima’s behavior but she doesn’t even KNOW it. If she finds out she might become better.
I miss him, sobs.
I honestly don’t want to have to defend Mika the new inspector, I really don’t, because she gets on my nerves too….but, um, when you said “hey why don’t we let her best friend get murdered in front of her and see how haughty she is???” I just had to point out…her best friend already died in the last season. Mika was one of the students in the Oryou Rikako case. …Soooo yeah.
That being said, seeing Akane and Gino again was glorious, especially how much they’ve both grown since the last season.
Friend dying in a murder on campus =/= having your friend murdered while being outright protected by the system and having a weapon in your hands that should stop it. Mika lost people but she didn’t by ANY means understand why, and if she did, would not be such a horrible bitch.
I KNOW RIGHT
Ahh that’s a good point. If I had to speculate, Mika probably looks at people with high level crime coefficients and sees them as the same as Oryou Rikako – therefore seeing them as monsters that need to be put down. This of course doesn’t make her line of thinking right, obviously. It’s just what I assume might be her thought process. Hopefully, Akane will be able to make her come around to see sense, because this whole episode, any sympathy I ever had for Mika evaporated and I just wanted her to stop talking. -_-
I really miss Kogami though, him and Makishima. D: I mean it feels WEIRD having Psycho-Pass without them!
My only hope is she’ll mention makishima and reveal the truth so we can has flashbacks to him as a teacher….
OH CRAP NOW THATY YOU POINTED THAT OUT, SHIT, SHE IS GONNA BE SO BLUE SCREENED WHEN / IF SHE FINDS OUT YES SO EXCITE
Omg the Blue Screen of Death!? XD I honestly am expecting it to happen now too!
Oh wow, I didn’t know that!
I don’t think the “inspector” pointed at the end of this show refers to the mysterious man, since the picture and names actually says “Mizue Shisui”(酒々井 水絵), the name of the woman inspector.
What I find interesting is, while Makishima is not here, the new timid enforcer (Hinakawa Sho) share the same seiyuu as him. He might be not related, but I’m crossing my finger right now ;D
Oh, and no one gonna tsukkomu that “WC” graffiti? xD
It totally looked like him though, I blame his feminine look. He has the same hair flip as the inspector LOL.
……………………………………………..hinakawa has his seiyu? which means alex organ might voice him in english? INTERESTED
It’s funny, I rewatched that scene at least 5 times, but my inability to tell names gets me like…curb stomped. But WC is a good question.
They do look an awful lot a like so it’s hard to tell, the gun is pointed directly at him so it’s odd that it would ignore him completely. That would take something to a totally new level, something even beyond Makishima because it could register his Psycho-Pass he could just control it. It would literally mean that the system can’t even see this guy.
I don’t like Tsunemori Akane or Mika. Why the hell are all inspectors women. now? Well, except, for the guy at the end and he’s an enemy. Akane is a lousy character. She has a very sleepy sheepish face that one can’t take seriously. I want to see Kogami Shinya and Makishima Shougo (I know it can’t happen). I know that there’s gonna be a little girl rivalry and conflict and I don’t want to waste my time watching that. I want to see Kogami track down some criminals. I also want to see him take down the system but in a different way as compared to Makishima shougo
I think it’s petty of you to say women can’t be inspectors. While Mika might be a raging bitch face with petty problems, Akane is someone Kogami respected and trusted. If you belittle her, you belittle him too. The only reason Makishima was not able to escape entirely OR go through with his plan was because Akane had the guts to get her hands dirty. She is not a ‘little girl’ and if you think this show is only about Makishima or Kogami, you’re sorely mistaken. The best you can hope for is to watch Akane and Kogami reunite and destroy the Sybil System, because Akane is a strong amazing character who grew and Kogami was her partner who cared for her a lot. There is no excuse to talk to her that way. Makishima was my absolute favorite character, but you don’t see me belittling Akane.
Sooo Akane isn’t a respectable character because you don’t like her face…? Personally I take her very seriously. I’m not sure who you’re looking at. And bringing gender into this isn’t necessary. Did you ever consider that maybe no men recently qualified for a Division 1 Inspector position? I’m not being sexist when I say that. Sybil is what decides who is eligible for a position in the MWPSB, and I suppose either no men qualified in the past 2 years, or no men wanted to work there. It makes no sense to me that you actually have an issue with mostly women being Inspectors.
Kougami will definitely be back, but he’s not the only main character. Akane has grown a LOT during and since season 1, and she’s definitely not the kind of person to get into a “little girl rivalry.” Shimotsuki might, since she’s still immature, but Akane definitely won’t entertain it at all.
