You know when you feel like a lot happened in an episode but at the same time you feel like nothing at all happened? That’s what’s happening now. The plot didn’t advance, but two people died and we had more and more refrences to puberty. We also got some backstory about Shinichi’s mother.
This episode opens with the fight between A and Shinichi about to begin, we get the detailed version of Migi’s plan. Migi is to act as the defense and Shinichi as the offense, since A underestimates humans, Migi believes that Shinichi will be able to get close to attack since he won’t be seen as a threat.
Shinichi is a little nervous at first but realizing that Migi is right, he slowly approaches as if he’s being drawn closer by Migi and then strikes A in the chest with the chair leg he was given as a weapon.
The desk leg acts as a tube to pour the blood out of the artery he severed and A sustains massive damage before stopping the bleeding by pushing the pole the rest of the way through. By that point, he’s too weak to keep fighting and goes to try to find the female, hoping to perhaps transfer to sharing her host.
PFFT yeah no, she jumps out the window before blowing the room she was in and A to high hell.
Life slowly returns to normal, the school reopens. However, it doesn’t seem like the lady parasite can teach anymore. She’s pregnant and can’t answer for who the father is. I doubt i can keep calling her lady parasite, but i’m too lazy to remember her name…is it Ryoko…? Yeah it’s Ryoko. So she quits her job and goes to talk with Shinichi, perhaps even kill him.
He’s thinking of killing her as well, it’s MIGI that brings up she’s pregnant with a human child and asks if Shinichi can handle the weight of killing that child.
As there is about to be a fight, Ryoko sees something in Shinichi and decides to let him live.
The scene after this takes place at night where Ryoko’s mother, er, the human’s mother. Comes to see her daughter after getting a call from the school about her quitting. She picks up, rather quickly actually that this isn’t her daughter. She’s murdered by the parasite as she’s about to call the police but it’s rather interesting to see how she picked up the subtle differences and surmise that wasn’t her daughter.
We cut to the next day where WAIT, WHAT THE HELL? MIGI CAN BREAK HIS ENTIRE ARM OFF HIS BODY AND MOVE AROUND FOR ABOUT 3 MINUTES? It’s like a messed up alien, dog, mass of human flesh with eyes…..cute?
The second half fo the episode is the struggle he is having hiding all of this from his family for their own safety and his worries considering he’s the only human that knows what’s going on with the mincemeat murders. The similaries are hugely implied between what he’s going through now and puberty in the way he treats his mother.
And then there is this, this is actually a line. His dad ACTUALLY says this. I did not photo edit this stuff on, NO, this is actually a thing. THANK you series for making this more awkward. Anyway, in the end he lets go of his fears of letting his parents travel due to Migi pointing out some facts of the murders and they leave on their vacation.
The episode ends with Ryoko noticing the baby moving inside of her.
A lot happened and yet a lot didn’t happen, it was a strange episode. The music and animation stand strong, the plot while not advancing had plenty going on in this episode to make me feel like things were happening and the puberty/sexual refrences were just the right level of awkward.
We’ll see where this goes, does anyone know how many episodes this show is slated for? I should go look that up, I know the manga has been done for a while so they have no excuse to wrap this up on anything but a true ending so i’m worried about it being cut short/getting a ‘read the manga’ ending.
~Midnight
Actually its 24 episodes, and at the pace they are going it seems they plan to animate the entire manga… awesome
Not much really happened in terms of plot, but there were so many death flags, esp. for Shinichi’s mother, that it wasn’t funny at all.
