I don’t ship it….I don’t ship it…..I don’t ship it -fan girl urges shake inside- AAAAHHHH, This is going nowhere good for me fast so let me talk about the episode! Here we have our four…ish, minutes of cute Mermaid fluff. You know, excluding the opening that is way too badass for a show like this. Ignoring the opening however, what hijinks are we up to this time?
True to my word, I didn’t touch the manga again so this episode is a surprise to me, the drama this time is…paying the bills for having a merman living in your bathtub. You know, keeping the water hot. Keeping the tub filled, it piles up to a pretty nasty gas and water bill. So unless Wakasa wants Tatsumi to start making his hamburgers with Tofu instead, they’re going to need to save money.
What are some of the brilliant ways they come up with to save money!?
Well, putting filled water bottles in the bath to increase the volume while using less water. clever, but not very comfy for Wakasa. I can’t imagine it being comfy for anyone, would you want heavy water bottles bumping up against your skin while you’re taking a bath? If you answered yes, you’re a strange, strange person, and I pity you.
Next up, covering the tub to keep the heat in. Well, that works about as well as you think it would. Wakasa loses track of his rubber duckie and freaks out, splashing all around, knocking the cover off the tub.
Then they share the bath to save water and heat and…I don’t ship it, I don’t ship it, I don’t ship it…THEY’RE JUST FRIENDS RIGHT? [time until Midnight ships it: probably only 1 more episode.]
So in the end of the episode, Tatsumi decides there is just no need to keep trying to save money so he’ll just do a double shift at work or something. Wakasa tears up and says he doesn’t want Tatsumi to suffer on his account and offers to help in any way he can! Why do I feel like this is going to tie into next weeks episode somehow? I have all kinds of bad feelings.
So, this episode was cute, the last episode was cute, this whole show is cute. What the hell is up with this opening!? I haven’t seen a opening so unfit for a series since Madoka and even looking back on that one it made sense. So unless this show is gonna get really intense somehow, I’m pretty sure this one might take the cake. [or the hamburgers in Wakasa’s case.] Now, just to see what happens next week.
