The full raid has started, and for the first half of the show, Shiroe gives us exposition. They’re in the Abyssal Shaft, where it’s HUGE and has mant corridors, traps, puzzles, etc. Everyone’s been split into four teams of six, a full raid consisting of twenty-four players. So far their teamwork has been working, and each team does their job well. Those that get defeated revive in the entrance where the raid started so they can get back to the swing of things. DemikASS still isn’t much of a team player, but he’s powerful. In raid zones, they have raid bosses, and the team encounter their first one, a cool feathery dragon/bird thing. It’s high leveled, and they have no idea what they’re getting themselves into, so once the raid boss has taken out nearly all of the adventurers, Shiroe and William decide to retreat.

And this is what I love. Nope, no one is overpowered enough to take down that thing. No, they didn’t defeat it the first time. No, they didn’t defeat it the second time. They tried again and again, they had to really strategize and take note of the monster’s attacks, it’s cooling period, weak spots, how many players it can take out with its attacks. I don’t like comparing Log Horizon to you-know-what because EVERYONE has compared it to…that show, BUT I LOVE THIS. Strategy is taken to account, like it would be in a real game. You can’t go in there willy nilly and think you can win. You’re going to mess up, but the main thing is to stop, retreat, and come up with a strategy to win. After countless losses, Shiroe and the others finally manage to defeat their first raid boss, rewarding them with rare items. After that, it had been 3 weeks since the raid started. 3 WEEKS. WHOA. They encounter another raid boss, and even though she hadn’t been as strong as the dragon/bird thing, it took them a dozen or so tries to defeat her. The deeper and deeper they go into the dungeon, they realize just how difficult it really is.

Ever since coming across those two raid bosses, they haven’t found any others so the battle entered a stalemate. Plus, they’re reaching their end of supplies, items, and food. Luckily, Shiroe had some materials he prepared that could last them for twenty days, but it’s still troubling. William is questioning himself, and Demikas still wants to beat up Shiroe.

Back in Akihabara, everyone’s getting ready for Christmas. The Log Horizon guild is decorating their place by placing ornaments on their tree. Rudy is asking what Christmas is, since he’s one of the People of the Land, but his own holiday is basically similar to Christmas. Tatsuya Kakihara’s English when he pronounces Christmas and Santa Claus lol. I love him as Rudy.

The group talks about presents, Touya wanting the Teachings, a set of powerful skills. Nyanta explains the different levels of skills, and Akatsuki becomes intrigued. While the adventurers of Akihabara are having fun, there’s a man standing on a cliff away from the town, and it looks like he has a problem with adventurers, so it looks like we won’t have peace for long. The People of the Land were never too find of the adventurers. I don’t like keeping this short, but this is a typical Log Horizon episode where Shiroe gives us exposition of the events unfolding, but I like it because it gives us a better understanding, especially me since I don’t play MMORPGs. I love the use of strategy and teamwork from everyone!

Plus, look at the cute smiley light!

It's so cute!

“Teaching” is a very bad translation. The novels had it translated to “Overskill”. It is a skill overpowerfull. The diference from that other anime is that any player levle 90 or above have a very small chance to get it, so it will be not restricted only to the MC.

Can you imagine what is a ninja overskill?
