There are two shows this season that are harder for me to cover and thus require more time, patience, and effort. One of these shows is a piece of shit washed up slow as hell failure of a fucking disaster, and one is Gugure!! Kokkuri-san, so let’s go with that one! We continue from last week where Kohina accidentally summoned a Tanuki spirit who seems to know Kokkuri-san, and I foresee hijinks as he is an old drunk.
Shigaraki, it’s revealed, was the worst room mate ever. Kokkuri hates him because he was a slob who invited infestations of bugs and even tore down his wall to force them to become roommates. Shigaraki gives no shits and wants to stay in what he describes as a hereditary witch household, or in other words a family that passes spirits of animal servants from mother to daughter generation. Thanks to Kohina’s ‘deal’ with Inugami, this makes her house now that of a hereditary witch household.
Once again, Kohina is tricked by the new spirit who wants in, when he offers her a fake 10000 yen bill, which she daydreams she can use for cup noodles. This time she is devastated by the loss of her noodles. Man these guys get worse. Kokkuri just stayed but cleaned for her and took care of her. Then Inugami tricked her but at least he really gave her noodles. Now this guy. ..what a dick. Hilarious, but a dick.
Shigaraki screws over Kokkuri but he is actually a nice guy. I can’t hate him like I hate Inugami, and he’s actually fun. As long as what he does is actually genuine and not some stupid ploy. BAAHAHAH. Kokkuri is hearing all about this and you can just tell he’s like YOU GOTTA BE FUCKING KIDDING ME?!!?!?!?!! I love it.
Tanuki’s kids turn out to be the victims of the families he haunted. Doesn’t ruin it for me, just makes me laugh. LOL. I’ll take this time to say, man, I’m conflicted. I don’t like Inugami’s role, but I love his design, his puppy form, and his voice..dammit all. . .
Once we see Shigaraki’s introduction the rest of the episode is dedicated to another story about Kohina at school. Kokkuri is worried about her so he follows her there, only for him to find out she is socially rejected but doesn’t care. Then he finds out there is a boy she likes. The boy is an alien.
The rest of the episode is filled with fucking hilarious puns about the alien kid, how no one seems to notice he is an alien. The reason it’s so hard to talk about this show is so much of it is really clever humor. Such as one of my favorite jokes “Repeat that again in Japanese…” “That was in Japanese” which is a play on the common, ok now say it again in english, so it’s funny to see the parallel in Japanese too. They also play the alien thing really well.
This show is great. I love watching it, and I’m sorry there isn’t more to be said than ‘this is an adorable, timely, absolutely hilarious show with many fun twists and turns’ but for the moment, that’s it! A new character will be introduced next time, and of course this episode Inugami was only in dog form so I couldn’t help but want to squish him. So let’s see- will it remain perfectly cute? I hope so!
