Gugure! Kokkuri-San Episode 2 [ inugami the genderfluid perv ]

I must start this post by reiterating that the opening of this anime is one of my favorite in the world. Seriously, what a happy opening theme that gets my blood pumping.

This week the focus is on one short story and one much larger one that introduces a new main character. First off, we watch Kohina learn how to smile and it’s really super cute seeing her care if Kokkuri-san will come to hate her because she can’t smile. Their relationship is so cute and doesn’t make me think romance, but a cooperative support where they are both happy. She’s four man.

That..brings me to the big issue and today’s main theme: the introduction of Inugami. Inugami is a man who has been walking around down and sitting in a box as a human claiming to be a dog that could be claimed. He doesn’t cause much harm until later in the episode when Kohina sees him and he…calls her his darling and tackles her to the ground. . .

As it turns out, Inugami is a spirit of a dog sacrificed to commit hexes and curses for it’s master. Because of this they are sinister creatures who feed on people. He tricks Kohina into a contract with him by offering her cupped noodles, and the character commences from there. Now, Kokkuri loves Kohina and wants to support her. . .this guy is legit in love with a four year old. HE TRIES TO TRICK HER INTO SIGNING A MARRIAGE LICENSE WITH HIM!!

I mean in the previous episode, it was so much more pleasant to watch Kokkuri be endearing and Kohina bounce off, but this is just…this guy is fucking frustrating. He wants to MARRY Kohina and creeps on her and is willing to beat up Kokkuri or fight him because of it. Honestly? I wanted to like him because he is hot but this guy REALLY GRATES ON MY NERVES!

The only time in the entire episode I liked him is when he and Kokkuri bond over their mutual hatred of cats. Add on that he is genderfluid and he has the makings of a cute character. The problem is the execution…HOW ANNOYING CAN ONE CREEPY STALKER BE? EVEN KOKKURI ISN’T THIS BAD (as he points it out).

I really like this anime but here is hoping Inugami gets punched in the face. . . .even though his/her dog form is super cute…
