A perfect summary of this episode is that it took me only a few minutes to completely lose my shit. This adorable and stupid anime has completely sucked me in by the addition of something I never see, an adorable, hunky, complete dork of a fucking silver haired fox guy. NEVER BEFORE HAVE I SEEN A FOX GUY SO COMPLETELY ADORABLY MOE AND STUPID BUT AMAZING. This show made me literally screech. I MADE HIDEKI WORRY ABOUT ME AS I SCREECHED ABOUT THIS SHOW.
The premise is simple: a girl plays a game that calls a spirit. She has hilarious reactions and tells him to leave, and he is a troll mcadorable who is torn between teasing her mercilessly and actually giving a fuck about her. The show’s best feature, hands down, is Kokkuri-san. He is such a genuine, adorable, really interesting character that I will watch this ENTIRE show just to see him. It’s shown very quickly that he is genuinely lonely and wants to be around Kohina, the girl, because he has lost a lot of meaning and happiness ever since shrines stopped being so prevalent. It has my favorite Shrine god theme, the less people believe the lonelier and more forgotten the gods become. It’s such a sad but interesting idea.
Sometimes there are sweet moments Kohina ruins. I actually hated her until nearly the end of the episode when she actually saw that kokkuri-san was trying to be good to her. While he is a tease and a mean fox guy sometimes he is THE BEST THING EVER. I have actually never been so engaged by a show because of ONE character in a very long time. This is the kind of show I struggle to cover because it is one where not a lot happens and most of it is comedy. Still, I will do it for this show because Kokkuri-san deserves it!
If you’re in the mood for comedy, this show will get you. It’s one of those heartwarming yet funny shows. It’s the first time I’ve seen one like this and actually been unable to consistently like the young girl character. She can be a brat and distant, but when she actually opens up and shows she is a human and not a ‘doll’ as she says, she is cute. I am sure the reason she acts the way she does is because she is alone. Her main anger stems from Kokkuri-san taking all of her boxed ramen and I feel like maybe this is because she is both childish but also probably afraid? She is a young girl with no one, so it must be comforting to have the security of a lot of food even if you have nothing else.
I can’t tell you what I’m looking for out of this show. Honestly? I’d be happy to watch this adorkable hunk hang out. Not to mention the other two people who seem like they’ll be showing up look really fun. This show is just a lot of FUN. It makes me laugh, and cry, and never once did I stop liking it or wanting to watch it. As long as every episode has Kokkuri-san, I will be more than happy with it and want to post it. Now go, viewers, wait for my next review and tide yourself over with the majesty of ALL DESE SCREENSHOTS!!!!!!

Berry’s Impression
THIS. SHOW. IS. SO. CUUUUUUUUTE. SO SO SO SO SO CUTE.
Another show with Daisuke Ono voicing a character watching over a little girl. But this time he’s a hot silver-haired dorky fox ghost. I mean…how can it get better than that? So Kohina plays a game where she can call a Kokkuri-san to answer questions for her, then she goes on to say that it’s better to just search answers on Google. This girl kills me. Unlike Oki, I freaking loved this kid. She even has a lightsaber. I wonder why she’s alone, especially at her age. She calls herself a doll, is she really one? She’s devoid of emotion, though she seemed distressed when Kokkuri threw out all the cup ramen. Which was hilarious.
This show is extremely silly, and I can’t really say much about it, because not too much happens. Random funny things happen, nothing too deep happens. But what I like is that two lonely characters have found each other and brighten each other’s lives. When Kokkuri left, Kohina was actually crying, and when they hugged at the end it was really sweet. I’m getting a lot of Barakamon feels for obvious reasons. Oh, and have I mentioned the opening? Watch the opening and you’ll understand what this show is about…sort of. This isn’t a show I can cover, because not much happens. And if I were to cover this show, all I’ll be saying is AHHHH IT’S SO CUTE and any synonym of cute. But I’ll definitely keep watching this.
Oh, and a bonus because this is one of the best scenes in anime I’ve ever seen. Yes, this is how you deal with lolicons. Thank you…thank you.

Midnight’s impression
OMG So as everyone else has said this show is above and beyond cute as all hell. I adore Kokkuri-san so much, he is totally adorkable and I can’t even handle how much he makes me squee like a five year old little girl. However, there is enough fan girling of him to go around so I’ll be sitting here through all of the episodes taking a look at the black haired dog guy! He’s gonna become important later and I can’t wait for it to be a thing! I mean while Kokkuri-san is awesome, and dorky and amazing. look at this guy. He’s HOT, stick some glasses on him and you’d have the mixture for my perfect anime guy!
I will be super turned on if he turns out of be the strict type, the straight man to Kokkuri-san’s dorky antics.
I was really annoyed by Kohina at first as well but at the end of the episode when she started showing emotions it was really cute. When they bother to actually animate her with real eyes rather then her ‘doll’ eyes she is actually rather precious looking.
I mean look at this face, she’s so cute! I hope they do more with her like this later in the series.
Then there is older monk Hatsuharu, okay, I couldn’t be the only person thinking it right? Anyone who saw Fruits Basket had to think it at least once. I don’t know anything about him yet but he has my interest. I’ll be joining Oki on this show if only to talk about the black haired guy, but also…Kokkuri-san, Kokkuri-san…WHY ARE YOU SO CUTE!?

Just finished watching it: THIS SHOW IS PURE GOLD!!!!! SO ADORABLE SO FUNNY, TOTAL PACKAGE.
Kokkuri-san is just so lovable. He is so precious ; v ;
I WAS NEVER SUPPOSED TO WATCH THIS SHOW BC WELL, I THOUGHT IT WAS ONE OF THOSE ROMANCE-Y STUFFS (i looked at the genre) BUT HOLY SHIT BERRY AND OKI YOU HAVE SOLD THIS SHOW TO ME AND I AM GOING TO WATCH IT RIGHT NOW
ITS DOWNLOADING AS I TYPE
I would never have even considered this anime based on its summary, but back when you guys did your Fall anime preview, Oki was head over heels for it. xD Even then I wasn’t completely sold, and I decided to watch the episode on a what-the-hell-why-not whim. (Ironically, I did the exact same thing with Barakamon and I’m SO glad I did.)
But like you said, I’m not crazy about Kohina but I LOVE Kokkuri-san! He’s hilarious and derpy, and he’s voiced by Ono Daisuke, who has proven himself the king of hilarious and derpy characters. I’m looking forward to seeing more of Kokkuri-san in the future 😀
