This episode we cover two or three of Marie’s social links at once, the ones in which she is trying to remember her past. It’s established really early on that Marie has amnesia. The only clue she has to her past is a comb she’s had as long as she can remember. So it’s up to our group to start looking for clues!
INVESTIGATION TEAM GO!
So as they search around town they come up with very few clues, they are directed by Aika to head to Daidara since it looks like a piece of art and that’s his thing. They go to talk to old man Daidara (If you aren’t familiar with who this is, you shouldn’t be watching this anime but i’ll say he’s the shop keeper you buy your weapons from. I can’t recall if he showed up in the original anime or not.)
Daidara can’t seem to find any meaning to it at all. Marie starts to remember something but it makes her collapse with a really bad headache.
They rush to get her somewhere to lay down and the next time she wakes up is it the textile shop that Kanji’s family runs. She walks out of the room to hear the group discussing the comb with Kanji’s mom. They say they believe that it may of been a gift of some sort. She goes on to explain that a comb makes a horrible gift.
Comb in Japanese is spelled with the characters for death and parting. Marie realizes her memories are probably gone for good, she runs out of the shop in sadness.
Now, we had to find a way to bring in the side quiz game that was added to Persona 4 Golden right? So since earlier in the episode it showed Marie and Teddie watching this game show. Teddie makes a stage with the help of Yosuke’s dad at Junes and they decide to throw a quiz to cheer Marie up.
Why, JUST, why? Why is Kanji in a bunny boy outfit and why does this fascinate me so much?!
They compete over a series of questions, at first Marie is annoyed since the questions are things she couldn’t know. Then they start asking questions of things she does know, things that have been covered in recent episodes/memory for her.
Yosuke and Chie suck at quiz games.
The score is all tied up Four points for Marie, Four points for Yu, Four points for Yukiko…
and Chie and Yosuke with 1 point each.
The final question, what is it that you can hold onto forever, and get more and more of each day.
Well obviously the answer is memories. Marie looks so happy she shines as she gets the prize, a model of Teddie! There is a picture on her cell phone to celebrate the memory of this. She say’s she’ll never forget.
The episode ends with some ominous foreshadowing of one of the future bosses. What’s the meaning of this? What are Marie’s missing memories, will this anime cover the Adachi social links!?
