“I don’t know anything. About this city, or about Yana-chan, or about Yuki-kun, or Hiro-kun or Sacchan.”
SAID NO ONE EVER
Impression
Holy shit, the next episode is titled “Jonathan”. GUYS, THE HYPE IS REAL.
To its credit, this episode was slightly better than the last one – if only because it got rather yuri-orientated at the end, and I suppose I still do support Touko x Sacchan even though I don’t really care all that much any more. But the core problem is still very much there, and you can even argue that it’s gotten even worse now that another episode has passed without any answers to the main fantasy theme of the show beyond a flimsy interaction between Touko and Kakeru. All that we know is that Kakeru may or may not have lost his ability to see the fragments, although I think it’d have been worse if he managed to suddenly control it when he tried – he’s also suddenly stopped being the cheesy romantic and has started sounding like a scientist by constantly pressuring Touko to “recreate the conditions” in which their powers should activate. I’m not even sure why the art room is special, though I have a feeling they may have subtly tried to explain this in the past. Another thing I’m a bit irked about is how Glasslip tends to try to shock us all with a plot twist at the end of every episode – it either ignores it or plays it down the following episode, and has now happened with both the crows and the snow. I’m almost certain this’ll happen with Sachi’s confession too.
To be honest, I’m not actually sure who her confession was to. It could have been to just Touko, in which case Sachi would be truly embracing her new role as dark!Sacchan and forcing Hiro to watch as she romantically confessed to someone else after educating Hiro so he’d understand the nuances of her confession. It’d be incredibly bitchy, but if possible I’d like this to happen because a) it’s yuri and b) it’s more exciting that way. The more likely outcome is that Sacchan’s subtly confessing to the both of them. Which would be a bit hard to swallow given that she’s practically admitted to stringing Hiro along for her own purposes.
Everything in the episode other than the confession was pretty much pointless. For some reason, Touko’s scribbled out all her sketches of Jonathan to the point that it’s now a horrible black mass, and there was a similarly confusing exchange throughout between Yanagi and Yukinari. The only mildly interesting thing was watching Hina try on different dresses, because she was cute. When Touko dies in the fire caused by the glassblowing accident I have long anticipated, I hope Hina doesn’t get caught up in it.
