Clearly, this show is too deep for me. Or maybe it’s just really, really bad.

Impression

Glasslip 7 Img019I know I’m a few days late with blogging this, but did I miss an episode or something? I’m actually so confused, and nothing is making sense – at the moment, Glasslip is like shattered glass. It’s all over the place, and it’ll hurt like a bitch if you step on it. I was as clueless as Hiro was when Sachi suddenly pronounced him her boyfriend in front of her mother – because to my knowledge, they weren’t going out. Hiro probably didn’t know either, but it was all so sudden – I was just talking about romances hardly having any development merely a few episodes ago, and now things have surged forward so fast I don’t recall the progression happening at all. Well, maybe that’s because it didn’t. When did Touko and Kakeru start casually holding hands? When did she start calling him Kakeru-kun? And tell me, why does Kakeru suddenly have multiple personality disorder? Suddenly seeing that was as creepy as fuck. Is that related to why he’s sleeping outside in a tent even though he has a spacious multi-storey house? My level of confusion is about the same as it was during Penguindrum, except that worked out fine in the end. Maybe someone can try and infer something from the imagery or whatnot, but it’d probably be easier if they started smoking whatever P.A. Works were smoking first. To be honest, I’d prefer clichés to extremism if the latter isn’t going to work out – and for what it was, I really enjoyed the scene of Hina and a bunch of middle school girls in wet swimsuits staring at Yukinari, because I actually understood what was going on and why they liked him. Because of his face.

And then suddenly Hina ran out and pedalled after the 5:30 guy while screaming at him to stay attractive, accompanied by intensely heart-wrenching and dramatic music.

…Excuse me, what?

The actual fuck?

Glasslip 7 Img034I feel really sorry for the past me. The Vantage of seven weeks ago had no idea that what he expected to be the next Nagi no Asukara would end up mutilating itself like this. And while we’re on the subject of time, forget that crucial detail Kakeru let slip that the future can’t be changed – apparently it’s not even the future they’re seeing any more. To be honest, until the cliffhanger happened I was seriously about to drop this show, but fine. Fine P.A. Works. I’ll play along with your spontaneously dark characters for a couple of weeks longer. I thought Sachi was a nice, quiet girl, but apparently she tried to get everyone to ruin David’s date with Touko because she hates his guts. Yana-chan was supposed to be the saving grace of this show, but now she’s got some evil aura around her too which Touko can see. And she thinks Yukinari is no longer attractive.

Glasslip 7 Img041I don’t even… I’m too tired for this, and it’s late. Am I just taking the fall really hard because I had high expectations to begin with? I haven’t even watched the last two episodes of the onii-sama adventures, and I’m already having to go through an awful case of a usually amazing studio churning out a dodgy show. I don’t even care what happens any more, but if they’re going to suffer, then at least make them suffer properly. I hope Kakeru falls. I hope it’s dark!Sachi’s fault. I hope Touko ends up joining her in hospital after being mindbroken by her vision of Yanagi. And I want lots of lolis in swimsuits to stare at me as I jog past them at 5:30 in the evening on a daily basis. And for one of them to chase after me on a bike and tell me to stay attractive.

Next episode, I bet they’ll get the chickens to start dancing yosakoi or something.
