NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

NOT SHEELE ;_;

WHY

SERYUU

BITCH

Akame 6 Img053

Akame 6 Img062Wow, that was brutal. It’s pretty sobering when you realize that Sheele’s character development episode was merely last week, and now all of a sudden she’s dead. Guess they really weren’t kidding about the whole abundant deaths thing. More than anything else, Sheele’s death has hammered in the indisputable fact that, in Akame ga Kill, being part of the protagonist group doesn’t guarantee your long-term survival at all – in fact, maybe it even increases your chances of dying. And no-one is exempt from this, apart from perhaps Tatsumi. Who will instead probably be subject to a whole heap of suffering, possibly due to the fact that everyone around him is sort of dying. This was a gory, violent episode that was easily the best we’ve had by far – there was a dynamic fight scene accompanied by an awesome OST, a character death and a bit of Leone teasing. I don’t actually think we’ve heard some of those tracks before, so this week was pretty much White Fox pulling out the big guns for the first major villain fight – at the cost of some slightly edgy animation perhaps, but I’m sure that’s just me being pedantic.

Akame 6 Img030Somehow I’ve managed to avoid talking about Seryuu for an entire paragraph, so this is the part where I’ll express my new-found dislike for her and lament over how I was fooled by a cute girl, once again. I’m sure many new fans of the series will be following in my footsteps. To be honest, at this point I don’t actually care how cute Seryuu is, bitch and her dog both need to die a horrible bloody death. I hope she chokes on her gunpowder and dies. Seriously, this girl is bordering on ridiculous – she went and had guns implanted in her arms and another one in her mouth?! I don’t actually know how she keeps on spewing all this shit about justice as if Night Raid are the most evil people to have ever lived – I’m getting the feeling she truly, genuinely believes that what she’s doing is what you’d call justice. And it doesn’t help that she fights with those twisted expressions that seem to characterize all Akame ga Kill villains. I don’t even… you know, there’s a term to describe girls like Seryuu, something along the lines of a female dog with a lack of sanity. And she feels schizophrenic to boot – it’s like she was a completely different person from the girl who helped out Tatsumi last episode. I’ve also learnt that it’s effectively twice as hard to go up against someone who possesses a living-type Teigu, as it probably knows how to fight for itself – at the end of the day, one person ended up giving two Night Raid members a lot of trouble.

Akame 6 Img055While I think I’d have welcomed Esdeath’s arrival in most cases, I’m now feeling like she should go away and come back later – I don’t like the fact that we’re moving away from the conflict with Seryuu at all. It feels unfinished, and it’s sour knowing that she’s managed to get away with killing Sheele, even at the gory cost of both of her arms. As ever, I’m glad they properly showed them as stumps and didn’t bother censoring anything. In the first place, I was pretty surprised to see her engage Mine and Sheele instead of Tatsumi, although it’s not necessarily a bad turn of events. You’d still expect Tatsumi to run into her at some point and have this fateful reunion on opposing sides, but whatever. If this episode was designed to make me hate Seryuu, then well done, they’ve succeeded.

Oh yeah, one more thing. She’s the first character in the series to have a full name – Seryuu Ubiquitous. That’s definitely supposed to mean something – and to be ubiquitous is to be present all over the place. Great, that means the capital’s full of crazy fuckers.

…Not that we didn’t know that already.

    You have been warn about this, right?
    Another thing, in this series, character developing = death flat
    The new group about to be form to fight the Night Raid lead by esdeath will have some very insane character, but also some very likeable that make you don’t want them to die event if they kinda are the bad guy, kinda sad.

      I knew things like this would happen (and will continue to happen) but it was still a shock when it did!

      At the moment, it’s sort of hard to imagine that we could actually get likeable villains – I’m sure there are some who… enjoy personalities like Seryuu’s or Esdeath’s, but so far I’m just slightly creeped out by them. Maybe Kurome fits the bill, who knows?

        Esdeath is not liked for her sadist personality (ok, some like her for that) but for some developments that will happen in the future. Same for Kurome.
        I really wanted Seryuu to see the truth of who the good guys are and switch sides, but after this episode, I can tell that even if she sees the truth, she won’t care much. It looks like justice = her father and Ogre. (btw, that’s not a spoiler, just my opinion on her).

          Switching sides is practically impossible now that’s she’s killed Sheele. At the very least, Mine and Tatsumi will be out for her head – if Seryuu ends up being done in, I hope it’s Mine who does it.

          I wonder how she’ll continue fighting for her “justice” now that her arms are gone… prosthetic limbs sound likely.

          1. Morlphing

            yeah, she will replace her arms with machine one( like Edward in FMA)

            1. Vantage

              Coming to think of it, Sheele should have just cut off Seryuu’s head rather than her arms when she got the chance.

                Well, one theory floating around the net is that Sheele was being cautious. She just discovered that her opponent’s body is modded, going for a decisive attack could leave you open to a counter from a hidden gun (like one placed inside the mouth) so she wanted to make sure Seryu had no weapons left. And in hindsight, that was the better idea, since Sheele getting shot earlier would have meant that Mine dies as well. But well, since the anime itself never said anything about this, it’s somewhat a plot hole.

                1. Vantage

                  It’s all up in the air as to whether Sheele would have been shot by the gun in Seryuu’s mouth had she continued, but she’d have her guard up at least, which she didn’t right after she freed Mine. And they could have ended up killing each other, which means that the dog would never have gone after Mine to begin with. But as you said, all the anime showed was what actually happened, so how things could or should have turned out will all remain as speculation.

    What made me break into tears (after I held it in) was the fucking dog chewing on Sheele’s arm like it was a bloody snack.
    They weren’t lying when they said when two imperial arms basically fight to the death. Damn.
    I want Seryuu to die horrifically ;^; I honest liked Sheele.

    1. Vantage

      I was too busy cringing at Seryuu’s crazy, maniacal expression during that scene (as well as staring at the stumps where her arms once were).

      That split-second “crunch” when the dog ate Sheele was what got me ;_;

      1. Olola

        Admist the tears that were rolling down my face, I was shocked on how the cute girl is…
        Shes on my hate list.
        For sure.

        This episode got me on the manga, which is amazing. Im not spoiling a thing, so dont worry about that.

        But damn, that episode hit me hard. Heck, I think it made me softer as today from another series, the waterworks went off ;^;

        On another note, I also hate that dog like thing now. Thats also on my hate list. It treating Sheele like a snack makes my blood boil.

        Whitefox sure know how to ring the feels bell.
