I’m back from my trip! As I more or less expected, I wanted to catch up to Happiness Charge Precure first, so let’s get started!
Happiness Charge Precure! Episode 24
OOOOOHHHHHHHHH OHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO What a way to end the episode. Feelings are starting to become more conscious for both Seiji and Megumi and boy, I wonder how that is going to affect their friendship, Thank god I can watch this back to back because the suspense would have eaten me alive!!! But that wasn’t the focus of the episode so this entry will be short.
It was so hilarious to watch the girls train without having transformed into Precures because they look like they are playing the imaginary game we all used to play when we were kids. It was great to have Seiji point out how ridiculious it looks since it doesn’t look like they are actually training, but playing, but it was certainly a little bit of both. Iona did a great job organizing and assigning the girls the moves they need to work on the most, as well making sure they are all having fun while doing so despite her tough coach personality. It was good to see that the training did pay off without leading the girls to a whole new move-set, and instead focused on strengthening what they already know and weaker moves.
For anyone who thought they were being deluded with their shipping goggles about the romance aspect, I think this episode hit the nail on the head that love is definitely going to play a larger factor in this series- the question is how far they will go with it. We know this because of how they chosen to have Blue repeat the rule to Iona that Precures are not allowed to fall in love, only to have Iona protest against the rule saying that she doesn’t see love as a weakness, but as something that will make her and the others stronger, and how she too wants to fall in love, be a bride in the future- so she can’t accept such rule. Hime popped up and agreed with her, and makes a pointer that she may have someone she has a bit of feelings for. While I know I shouldn’t hold my breath for that particular detail, it makes it exciting because ROMANCE we know that Yuuko is pretty sharp when it comes to noticing whether someone has feelings developing for another.
Playing the card of Megumi getting sick and cared was not a surprise (anyone who have watched enough romance knows about this trope like the back of their hands), but ahahaha, how can I not be excited about it? No I don’t ship Blue x Megumi, but it will be very fun to see how the characters are going to react in this situation- especially since according to the preview, Blue will be nursing Megumi back to health. I am excited to how Seiji is going to react and perhaps get a better glimpse of how he feels since either he is jealous that he who is close to Megumi isn’t the one to take care of her as a very close childhood friend, or he is starting to feel jealous because of the revelation of feelings towards Megumi that he didn’t realize he had until now.
Happiness Charge Precure! Episode 25
It was certainly a heart-pounding episode with feelings spilling everywhere to the extent that it was actually quite overwhelming at times (whether that’s a good thing or bad thing, that varies from person to person). It is like while they were brainstorming the theme of this series someone said, “Hey if we’re going to feature romance for the ten year anniversary, lets go all out!” because it certainly feels like it. I mean, for crying out loud they threw in these extra characters within this episode just so that they could have one of them confess to Seiji in order to trigger Hime’s future events.
I found that it was an important detail to have Hime actually wonder if something bad had happened to Namakeruda. While she doesn’t actually know how it’s related to love yet, the fact they we- the audience are aware of it is important because now we are starting to see more common grounds amongst the generals of the Phantom Empire. Queen Mirage supposedly turned into who she is now because of (probably) a broken heart, Namakeruda hates love because it causes pain (aka he has also been hurt by love in the past) and I’m sure that the rest of the generals have similar cases. The subject element of ‘Love’ is also what I believe is going to play a vital factor in connecting the girls with the opposition as Hime and Megumi in particular start to experience the first stages of falling in love, as well as possibly Iona since we know she wants to fall in love. Speaking of which, I have a feeling that Yuuko will most likely end up being the only main who doesn’t fall in love with anyone. She will probably just observe the feelings unfold and step in if necessary- something which I believe will happen eventually as Hime’s feelings towards Seiji develops further (especially within next week’s episode- that preview is just- I can’t!) which may cause some complication in the whole group’s relationship because of Hime likes Seiji who likes Megumi who likes Blue who is in love with Mirage. Hopefully it won’t get as complicated as She’s the Man ahahaha! (I doubt it would though).
It was nice to see that Blue had opened up to Megumi a tiny bit about his relationship with Mirage. He admitted that he had hurt her and is responsible for her turning to the bad side and says that he will stop her, but Megumi pointed out to him that she knows he doesn’t want to actually have to fight her. It was certainly a tension creator for Blue to have Megumi call him by his name instead of his title just because it’s basically showing that they have become closer and it’s something that Seiji is going to have to cope with and get used to.
I have to admit, while I haven’t jumped on to the Hime x Seji ship just yet (actually I don’t think I even know which ship I am actually shipping yet!) it was very cute and fun to see Hime want to try and surprise/startle Seiji after hearing how the girl who has a crush on him claims he is so cool only to backfire and see why the girls think that way and go all doki doki. Now that Hime sees how cool he is and has feelings develop too. MY GOD. SO MANY FEELINGS!!!!!!!
Heterosexual relationships in my Precure series? Heresy! 😛
“Last thing I wanted to mention was the noticeable amount of changes and additions made to the OP this episode. I’m a somewhat surprised that Megumi is highlighted so much, but I think it’s because she is the one who made the bold speech to Queen Mirage a few episodes back.”
…*watches OP from episode 2. Watches OP from episode 24.* …I’m not seeing any changes.
Welp~ Looks like being away for three weeks made me forget LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!
