Well I must say, this was unexpected, but it was a pleasant surprise. I wasn’t entirely sure whether I would enjoy Gongenzaka’s duel as much because I didn’t really care about him as a character… until now. Gongenzaka won my heart because of his steadfast dueling style which is pretty awesome for a number of reasons. I am fond of the fact that he believes in his deck so strongly that he refuses to take advantage of the Action Cards when if he is in a pinch or even if it might help his opponent turn the tables. The second was the fact his deck is solely made out of monsters, which made the duel all the more interesting and exciting to watch. And then thirdly, I especially loved seeing a duelist play defensive as oppose to offensive, it was very refreshing and admittedly- it was something I had been hoping to see.
In the end, the duel wounded up as a Draw which I felt was an appropriate result given how the two duelists were constantly negating and countering each others effects or attack over and over again (but that was what made the duel so fun for me!). I was quite surprised at Sora’s reaction however. I raised my eyebrow and said, “Just who the hell were you cheering for Sora?”, because Sora was so sure that Gongenzaka was going to lose. Well it just highlights Sora’s arrogance and ‘thinks-he-knows-it-all’ personality which is probably going to be his ultimate downfall if it continues this way. Sure he knows more than the other kids, but I don’t find him cute at all, his attitude throughout this whole frenzy rubbed me the wrong way because while the others have so much at stake (protecting their school), he doesn’t seem to give two shits about the outcome of this fight against LDS, nor does he cheer or even tries to show faith for his team.
With the match concluded as a draw, they are forced with a tie-breaker where Yuuya will be facing off Reiji who stepped out of the shadows and took the initiative to duel against Yuuya. Considering Yuuya is wearing his goggles right now, he is definitely under pressure, but it will be very important for him to this time, stick to his true style from the get go because I more or less expect Reiji to be a strong opponent now that he is actually dueling in person against Yuuya himself.

Good Episode! I love the way Gongenzaka duel against Yaiba showing he didn’t need Action Cards to duel just his deck. Wow unexpectedly the duel ends in a draw and it’s up to Yuya to win again and to break the tie between the schools. Well Sora being very lazy not dueling and thinking he knows it all and sometimes think to myself who side is Sora on?! Is Sora going to know all about the next duel just like all the other ones well maybe he will keep his knowing it all to himself in the next duel. Back to the part where the duel ends in a draw it’s almost like Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’S where it’s all up to Yusei to win for his team and it’s the some for Yuya to win for his team and school. This should be a good duel Yuya vs Reiji and I can’t wait to see it!
HELL YEAH A DUEL BETWEEN 2 WARRIOR DECKS!!! *ahem*
I was at the edge of my seat this duel! Also I laughed how the whole “The man, Gongenzaka” thing was coming off as “Manjoume Thunder”2.0 and in this episode he said “Gongenzaka-san da!”
That being said, I like how his deck defies EVERYTHING about the game, keeping monsters in Defense position to go on the offensive, having ONLY monsters in his deck (something Yugi told Joey/Jounochi was an awful idea in the very 2nd episode of yu-gi-oh: duel monsters) but was still able to fight back like a boss, mostly because his card type can work like magic and traps (kind of like pendulum…. which this episode all but shows the man, Gongenzaka is probably never going to use… unless they are a type that have the effect “in the graveyard this card is only treated as a monster).
One last thing, am I the only one that felt a kind of “Knight” (I think that’s what he is being called around here) vibe when Yuuya had his goggles pulled down this time?
OvO;;; I didn’t get that feeling at all, instead I figured Yuuya slapped it on his face to ease his nerves because there is so much at stake- but that is still interesting to hear. OwO///
This was a Good Episode! I love the way Gongenzaka duel against Yaiba showing he didn’t need Action Cards to duel just his deck. Gongenzaka felt bad when he got a draw instead of winning the duel but Yuya told him it was ok because LSD didn’t get to win the duel. Gongenzaka showed Sora he can hold his own in a duel and where does Sora get off saying anything about the duels specially when he didn’t even duel like he was suppose! Just because he wanted to face the LSD student that did Fusion Summoning and when was the girl he was too late because Yuzu was already to face her. It was nice of Gongenzaka to duel for Yuya and the school even though he is from a rival school and LSD should take a lesson in that. I also like the part where Yuzu’s dad told the chairwomen to leave but he should have known better that she wasn’t going to give up that easy. Now it’s up to Yuya to pull in other win for the team and the school and we all know that Reiji won’t go easy on Yuya so Good Luck Yuya pull in a other win!
