This episode of Mekakucity Actors starts with the Monster and her Daughter. Marry? Pretty Sure that’s Marry. It looks a lot like Marry. Act 10: Fantasy Forrest. I have no idea what I’m looking forward to in this episode. If it’s going to be sad or happy. So let’s run right in!
The Monster is waiting for her husband to return and is upset that he is late, her daughter keeps attempting to calm her down. Assuring her that her husband is going to return for sure. Well, that answers my question on the kind of mood we’re going for. The first five minutes or so shatter my heart, these villagers attacking the monsters house.{Burn the Witch!} (I need a little humor here or I’m gonna sob.)
Saying that the mans love isn’t real, that it’s her witchcraft. The monster, shot full of holes on the floor. Oh wow, She comes back to life. she’s using everyone’s powers to protect her daughter and drive off the attackers.
Oh god, they were trying to beat the information out of him about his wife. He didn’t sell her out at all, he tried is hardest to protect her. I cried, I had to pause the episode and cry as the Monster told her daughter to leave.
Told her not to use her powers, live with her mother. Her daughter begged her not to go. All the monster wanted was her husband and daughter to be happy. Her husband ran back just as she vanished, their anguished cries…
I really enjoyed this opening part of the episode for two reasons, first and foremost the voice acting. The anguished cries from these Seiyuu broke my heart wide open, I was tearing up in the voice chat I was in. The second thing was the artistic use of Black and White. It made it look absolutely beautiful.
Okay, so the Monsters daughter isn’t Marry. Marry is the daughter of the Monsters daughter? That makes a certain bit of sense. They lived happily together, alone away from humans. Then one day, Marry was found by some humans. They were hurting her, wanted to take her hair! Her mother shows up and turns one of the attackers to stone….
She coughed up blood. This episode is horrifying…so depressing. Right in front of Marry, her mother was killed. The snake is mocking the monster, she uses her power to release Marry. August 15th, I knew that date kept popping up all over. It’s people who die on that day that get these powers. {Or at least, I think that’s how it works. As far as I understand it anyway. Please, correct me if I’m wrong.}
So Marry is the Queen snake, now I’ve got that settled in my head.
Seto ran away from the house because Kano had been picking on him and he comes across Marry sitting at the house she shared with her mother. She yells at him to go away, if he looks at her he’ll turn to stone. He runs in, unafraid and says he’s just like her…she doesn’t have to be afraid anymore.
He shows her music, after a short depressing music video that shows her life after that. Her praying for her mother and father. We skip back to the present when she wakes up, she runs into what used to be Haruka.
She brings him in, he can’t seem to remember much of anything. The one thing that he can remember, is that he wants friends. He wants to have fun with friends. That’s all. Marry offers to be friends with her and to introduce him to her friends.
Momo has caused a huge commotion on the TV and Marry wants to bring him along to see them. I have a feeling that this is going to go nowhere good quickly, in particular if Ene and him meet. This episode was heart wrenching! Oh God, there were at least two to three times I had to pause the video so I wouldn’t break out sobbing! I’d say this is the episode that has effected me the most in the way of emotions. I’m almost scared to see where this is going to go in the last few episodes! I really need to watch these PV’s as soon as the series is over.
next episode: Moon-viewing Recital.
I thought this was a solid episode! Really enjoyed it, SHAFT did great this time round. My only disappointment was that Imagination Forest wasn’t sung by Hanazawa Kana (Marry’s seiyuu) or at least a girl, especially as it’s supposed to be from Marry’s perspective.
I have to agree with Vantage, I loved this episode a lot. Plus, we got to see Marry as a child, and she’s all kinds of adorable right there. By the way, what’s your opinion on the Story Book Time at the end of this episode, featuring Marry instead of the Monster Girl Azami?
Also, some great news! The Kagerou Daze novels and manga have been licensed for official English release! 😀
I really liked the ending with Marry, also that’s awesome about the manga! I’ll have to check that out when it comes out for sure!
