Impression
I. sincerely. hope. this is the last fucking episode we have to deal with this bullshit drama because I am 1000000% done with this shit. Much last like week, the entire episode had me ranting out loud in front of the computer screen while wanting to rip my hair out. The amount of infuriating drama in this series has seriously caught me off guard, and I am not impressed. I think what makes it so frustrating is that you can’t help but compare it to the original. In the first series we had a heroine who actually had a sense of independence despite her circumstances. This time round, we have Kanade who goes on and on how she has to rely on others and every time she brings it up I want to flip tables because, HOW ABOUT YOU TRY AND RELY ON YOURSELF?! I sincerely hope that the element of independence will part of her character growth and blossom at some point before the end of this show, because the show she really needs it. And this will be necessary development if Kanade wishes to make her performance bloom because that is something only she can do! As result, it will positively effect the entire ensemble once she does so.
Speaking of the ensemble, Daichi, Haruto and Kanade were all blaming themselves about holding the group back because of their mediocre performances. It is quite sad because it showed them just how much they relied on Ritsu to pull and hold the group together. Ritsu is the heart of the group, and having him be forced to resign from the semi-finals left a big hole that needed to be filled. Ritsu had chosen and entrusted his younger brother Kyoya as the first violin- which is why this bullshit drama was happening in the first place. Kyoya has big shoes to fill, and since the first episode and throughout today’s, Kyoya has been running away from music altogether because he (as suspected) feels like an inferior musician compared to his brother and he feels that can’t fill his shoes. But the most important realization, which applied to both Kyoya and Kanade today was understanding they need to be themselves and not someone else. Stay true to who they are, and they will pull through, and most importantly- STOP COMPARING THEMSELVES TO OTHERS BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT THEM. Once Kyoya understood that, he embraced his role as the first violinist and works with Ritsu to make up the lost practice time.
Drama aside, it was nice to gain a bit of insight on Reji’s back-story. The fancy pink-haired girl we had met and seen a few episodes back is in fact his sister. After their parents had passed away when they were young, they were adopted by the headmaster who is putting a lot of pressure on Reiji. But Reiji appears not to give a fuck about it as he straight out told him, “I will not be your pawn”.
Shiseikan’s Ensemble is still hanging around at the dorms since Hihara had encouraged them to stay at the Concours to listen to the competitors and learn from them. = v =/ Nice to see that they won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
I pray that from here on out, it will not be painful to watch.
