Picking up where episode four left off, with Gray’s win and Rufus’ defeat, the fifth episode continues with Mavis and Makarov chatting about the power of feelings and how it’s the real stength of magic. Fairy Tail is now in first place with 50 points; Sabertooth is just a point behind and tied with Lamia Scale. Mermaid Heel is in fourth place with 43 points and the Daimatou Enbu continues.
Meanwhile all that’s going on, Sting sits by himself thinking about the only friend he has lost; from that loss too his power surged over 9000 which leads Minerva to speculate if he should be the rightful successor. Then comes the flashback to when Sting raged and laid waste to the Sabertooth leader. In his defeat, he’s sputtering that Sting won’t get away. Minerva quickly shuts him up. The other guild members…by their expressions, don’t think Sting being the new leader is…wise.
Lector is alive. Sting weeps joyfully but Minerva is using Lector as bait to push Sting and keep him at his max strength to ensure their victory in the Daiamtou Enbu and keep their title as the strongest guild in Fiore. Now, Sting is determined to win with the power of feelings as the driving force. God, that’s cheesy.
Meanwhile, Natsu and the gang are still trapped in Hell’s Palace with no possible means of escape. And Hell’s Palace is basically set up like a labyrinth…minus the minotaur. But, in the Minotaur’s place are the Garou Knights; an independent group of executioners who support Fiore.
Natsu is the only person not intimidated by these guys who aren’t as physically intimidating as their power and urban legends make them to be. His strength is tested by the two women of the group and he ends up having to team up with Wendy to battle the Garou Knights Girl Duo. They do a good job at first but they still end up under duress and a bit defeated this episode.
The episode wouldn’t be complete without the LucyxNatsu gags but sometimes, the humor is a bit of a hit or miss for me; even though I find almost everything funny. The battle will continue in the next episode, now that the other Garou Knight members have joined the battle, along with Mirajane to give both Natsu and Wendy a helping hand.
(This review is extremely late but forgive me, there were personal issues).
