Really, really boring plot. This episode is focused on the slice of life aspect and anxiety of most of the characters. Namely- pills pills pills and other stuff. Namely the first thing we find out is they probably won’t be able to make the pills.
This episode was hard to remain focused on because it had the exact same slew of issues I mentioned last episode. The emphasis on the pills is so boring and monotonous at this point I expect and feel nothing over it. This is an issue of their lives and the show has handled it so poorly I can barely stay interested as they discuss the alternatives.
The other half of the episode is not the usual plot emphasis. In fact this episode is all worrying, some slightly interesting moments that go too quick, and the witches trying to do normal girl things. There is definitely an emphasis on Kuroha’s realization she likes Rentaro- . . . .sorry I was thinking of the better show I cover, though she doesn’t quite get from A to B by the end of the episode.
Ryota is just so dull and none of the other characters are any better. I wish I could tell you I was genuinely interested in this show but half the time the story is presented in such a dull and uninteresting manner I find myself waiting week after week to get to something interesting that never comes. This show is incredibly frustrating in terms of pacing and character development. I should be happy Neko is going out to be normal but instead I’m just sighing at her the whole time.
I mentioned there were interesting things mentioned, right? Well it mostly has to do with silver haired guy. His name was mentioned but I can’t remember anyone’s name in this show man. He is apparently a brilliant researcher who is helping the council of evil. . . I mean the old dudes who he seems to report to, manage the witches and capture those who escaped. I have no idea his motivations but he is fairly interesting so at least there is that.
Also he’s hot.
But anyway- apparently the witches are somehow closely connected to alien ruins that might have been discovered a hundred or so years ago. That seems to be the goal of the council of evil. On top of it there is supposedly a super evil powerful witch named Valkyria who the show has set up to sometime fight Neko. You know these things I mentioned are interesting, but the problem is they just skate over them. Oh look at that interesting plot element. It’s gone now, look at these girls in bikinis.
The show needs a lot of work, but I’ll keep watching just to see what the hell it’s going for. If I’m lucky more of these bland characters will get exploded.
PS: the scientist guy might be completely irrelevant- it would takes months to make more pills and unless all the girls give up their pills for Neko or something stupid, it likely won’t happen. But watch that happen. Anyway, at least the scientist is fun. ALIENS.
