Brynhildr in the Darkness ep 5: Cannon Fodder

This week we return to the new girl who has come into the story and find out her name is. . . Kotori. . . what’s with all the Ks like fuckin seriously?? Anyway she is just a sweet girl who has huge boobies and of course…….Kazumi makes it a booby things and then they bounce and there are boobies ok ok normally I’d care but come on. Why don’t MY boobs get a sound effect when they jiggle??

It becomes clear quickly this girl is a super derp who is not much danger- and almost immediately Ryota invites her as well as everyone else to the mountain for star viewing. Er, forces really, as Kazumi tries to opt out and he says attendance is mandatory lol. They’re….really awful at keeping the witch stuff underwraps and if Kotori was a danger they’d all be dead. 😐

And of course. . . this part of the episode is largely boring. If you guess that it’s Ryota angsting about whether Kuroha is Neko and then a death prediction they have to wait to see about you got it. There it is. You guessed the first 15 minutes of this episode.

However they soon discover Kotori is a witch- and Kana has a prediction in which she kills Neko. Let me reiterate, the vision shows her smiling over her dead body. If I was Kana I’d have spent a few minutes maybe deciphering this since the time of day was obviously different and the vision was very vague- but as usual she freaks out and doesn’t bother to think about it.

They find out that Kotori can teleport- but she immediately hangs up. Wouldn’t logic declare if she’s smiling the vision means maybe she’s teleported someone who killed Neko away from her and is happy to have saved whoever is watching? The vision soon changes to Ryota dying and of course this means we’re gonna get some convoluted BS soon. Oooooh is it really Kotori wooooo lets fix it but we won’t ooooooooooooh.

Don’t get me wrong the actual story is fine I’m just not really a fan of the hang out time. It’s just done very differently than it needs to be done to actually be interesting. The parts of the story that focus on the way the characters interact normally is just written so badly it makes me go, okay, I guess I’ll put up with this until the good stuff happens again. Incidentally then we see the good stuff and the actual AA+ witch, …another….k name. . . ..okay. . . but she blow shit up yo.

The next day Ryota realizes the location of where he / neko will die, the park, and that their friend is there and needs to be saved by them. Neko refuses to compromise despite the danger (which is really dumb because she needs to consider kana who needs her and ryota who will be in danger if found taking care of her) and they go, only to see the AA+ use her abilities to successfully blow a hole in their friend.

Literally. . .she opens her mouth and fires freakin’ ceros. And of course the whole point of them being there was moot. I think what’s so frustrating about Kuroha is she doesn’t realize that her endeavors are fruitless if she throws her life away. She’s sad to lose her ‘precious things’ which are her memories but other than that the thought of her life means nothing to her. She has an immature way of looking at things but I guess the show wants to hammer home the way she acts as ‘virtuous’ when it’s really just ‘naive’. More often than not they’d be better off coming up with a team between them and having actual plans but they’re so busy worrying about having fun they have no contingency plans. Honestly they’re all idiots just asking to die. I’d hate on Ryota but half the time his persistence in Neko is the only thing saving her life because she is honestly never worried about it. THEY KNOW ABOUT THESE PEOPLE AND THESE DANGERS AND THEY DON’T EVER BOTHER SITTING DOWN TO FORMULATE A PLAN OF ACTION BECAUSE IT’S OBVIOUS THESE GUYS ARE AFTER THEM?? They pretty much rush in and expect it to be whatever but like…uhm..no ok

Hell Neko threw a desk at Ryota to get him out of the way. I can’t with these chicks. Anyway next episode we’ll see the real meaning of the vision and if I’m right- plus maybe now with a new member they’ll actually do something?? Maybe??
