I think it’s safe to say after this week’s episode (if not the last’s), that in order to watch this show, you literally have to cast aside whatever knowledge and shit you know about the mythologies, ignore the contradictions and be able to handle the incredibly exaggerated cheesy scenes. That itself is no easy task, and on top of that, it really didn’t help that I pretty much couldn’t stand this episode at all.
After Thoth tells her to get the Gods act together after walking out of class, Yui forms a plan to try and have the Gods experience the more enjoyable aspects of the high school life. She decides that they will take a trip to the beach, and with the help of Apollon and Baldr, they manage to have all the Gods attend the trip. However that trip was spoiled after Zeus decided to mess with them by changing up the season from summer to fall (how annoying- Zeus does what he wants, whenever he wants *rolls eyes). The Gods who didn’t give a crap about school and shit get annoyed and are bored, and demands to go return to their dorms, Yui then appoints Apollon as Student Council Preseident so that he would have certain ‘authority’ and then the two of them go and fetch some fireworks and everything is better. Yayyy… (¬_¬)ノ
Last week Apollon grew on me, but after this episode, it just took several steps back of how I feel about him. Sadly, he quickly got on my nerves. The best way to describe him is with a puppy, or a child with a curious mind. I did not like how clingy he was to Yui (like really, what the actual fuck- he was like “OH NOES YUI IS LOST!!!” when she’s not). It was not cute to me, instead it was annoying to watch. I simply can’t stand that kind of character. The only thing that didn’t bother me as much (though I did roll my eyes) was when he ‘confessed’ to Yui. It was obviously an innocent, pure expression as oppose to a romantic one. Had he been like, “OMG I LOVE YOU FOREVER BE MY LOVER!!!!” I would have flipped tables. In the mean time, the only character I truly adore right now is Hades because he is absolutely precious.
In the end, I think I am going to drop this one. It is not something I can see myself having a lot of fun blogging about, especially which how inaccurate and ridiculous this show is. The only positive aspect of Kamigami no Asobi is literally the very humor of the silliness of each of the characters and how overly dramatic they are under certain circumstances. It was funny to watch the Gods act stupid in class and interrupt the lessons as if they weren’t being taught in the first place. But when it comes to the more literal aspects such as who the characters are supposed to be, it is really difficult to overlook the inaccuracies. However I am willing to give this one more episode because of how iffy my mood has been the past few days, so we will see how it goes. If I don’t make an entry next week, that means I dropped the coverage for good.

Agreed! I’m trying to be patient with this anime because 1) reverse harem and 2) hot guys. But this week’s episode was pretty hard to watch, even with the hot gods taking off their shirts. Apollon has annoyed me from the beginning (especially his creepy nickname for Yui), and it was really strange how he went crazy when she went missing for about 2.6 seconds. I like Totsuka and Loki the best personality-wise, but there’s barely been any development from them. Most of the show so far has been scenes of Apollon, who reminds me of a more annoying version of Otoya Ittoki from UtaPri. I think it may be time to abandon otome game reverse harems for good. 🙁
Otome Games in general are always a hit or miss (even more so for adaptions), this however- as whole is clearly a miss.
Sorry But I Like The Show As How IT Is and Iam Not Aree With You
That’s fine. XD
I’m a big mythology buff,is it a good idea to watch this without going on a rant.I love reverse harem shows.
Unlike this episode (3), Episode 4 was pretty good since I didn’t go insane (also I am Hades-bias LOL) and things MIGHT get better as it shifts to the more Character Central episodes (frankly speaking, I am not holding my breath for it). But my best advice I could possibly give you at the moment is to cast aside all the knowledge you know about the mythologies, otherwise you will want to rip your hair out. Of course this varies from person to person as for how much one can handle the inaccuracies.
