Gokukoku no Brynhildr [ep 1] First Impression: guuuuuurl

Brynhildr in the Darkness- OH GOD I LOVE THIS

 

Brynhildr, let me tell you- right off the bat I was interested for one thing specifically. DAMN THAT OPENING. CAN I EMPHASIZE HOW MUCH OF A SUCKER I AM FOR A GOOD OPENING? Well lay me down and give me a youngin THAT WAS AN EPIC OPENING you know it’s good when there is nothing to sing to and you still want to sing along.

This isn’t the opening but it is the main character being a moe butt face who I love.

The premise of Brynhildr is simple; when he was young the main character accidentally caused the death of the girl he loved who he always saw the stars with. She believed there were aliens and died trying to prove it to him, so he has dedicated his life to joining NASA and proving they exist as a favor to make it up to her in death.

 

Of course the episode begins with. . . a mysterious transfer student who shouldn’t be smart enough to get into the school! The girl very obviously looks like the girl he loved and he decides it must be her, but she has no idea who he is. He becomes obsessed, as I would, because what the HELLIONS she is both FOINE and his dead childhood friend. SO MANY ANIME CLICHES ALREADY

 

 

However then what happens is during swimming practice a girl almost drowns and Kuroha, the girl, mentions she knew that two people at that school would die. (I WONDER WHO THE OTHER PERSON MIGHT BE WHO WAS GOING TO DIE AT THE SCHOOL) But before the girl drowns the ground suddenly collapses and plugs the valve holding her down. Totally luck btw.

Anyway after this the main character decides to go look at the stars away from his home and then OOOOoOoOoO the girl follows him and says he is going to die if he misses the bus! Haha but then it turns out if he does BILLIONS WILL DIE no like 5 people still the point remains he gone fuck up errything.

 

But before she leaves he ends up finding out she can’t do basic math. He makes fun of her and it’s adorable but what’s hilarious is when they get into an arm wrestling match…she wins, but then he’s like THE FUCK YOUR ARM IS SQUISHY normally anything cute bothers me but the atmosphere of this show = perfection.

 

The episode ends however with the main character avoiding listening to her warnings. And what happens? Avalanche bitches. And of course…ACTION GIRL COMES AND SAVES THE DAY literally freakin’ cutting the giant boulder coming down to crush him in half.

 

But he then sees something…..she doesn’t have the same moles his childhood friend did. She’s a completely different woman….who just saved him from dying…!

Impression: COME THE *FF ON I WANT TO HAVE THIS SERIES’ BABY FROM THE ART STYLE ALONE /explodes
