GRAY WON! JUST LIKE I KNEW HE WOULD! The power of feelings outweighs all other magic. Fairy Tail has reiterated that philosophy so much and it never gets redundant (as cheesy as it is), because it’s always reemphasized in epic battles! And this fight was epic! Not EPIC epic, but epic enough that it made me cheer along with the crowd.
This review might be done in reverse since I already mentioned the highlight of this episode. No, I’ll still do this in order.
Gray got his ass beat when he faced Rufus again. And in a library that was full of spell and magic books. So, in a sense Rufus was cheating the entire time and his magic is a tricky one. He memorizes magic that he’s seen before and executes them…sometimes with his own original flair. So, when he got his hands on the books and did the ancient magic spells on Gray, I was a bit irritated but impressed at the same time.
Everyone else believed that Gray would lose but Like Juvia, I had faith in Gray the entire time…and so did Mavis – though she seemed awfully ambivalent about how the battle would end. Rufus is actually the key to Sabertooth’s downfall and victory because he’s the only watchdog in the group that could attack everyone from his position and tell his members the location of the other guild teammates, that made things sticky for everyone else.
While that was going on, Natsu and the others were trying to find some means of escaping but the more they tried was the less motivated they became. Isn’t Yukino just the cutest, that stance and clueless expression on her face. Then Happy, got an idea that could somehow help them escape.
Sexually exploiting the two beauties of the group. Happy got the idea that the princess, along with the guards would be watching them and to lure the guards to Hell’s Palace so they could make a grand escape; Happy and Natsu wanted Mirajane to show off her nice body…plus Lucy. There were a few good giggles I got from this scene. That plan ended up failing since no one came…but some thing did show up.
A flower-eye; I call it Flower Beam. Where it came from, I don’t know and my guess is, this is not something that is naturally in Hell’s Palace. This came from some other group or person. It’s that time where more shit will go down.
So yes! Gray won his fight against Rufus, the key to beating him is to pull out all the stops on your magic, execute them all at once so Rufus’ memory can’t keep up then stomp his ass. And Rufus is some sort of pathetic because after just two hits…he’s out?? Not that that matters, I got to see Gray strip and that…that is all that counts.
Another thing I liked about this episode was the bit of character development for both Juvia and Yukino. Instead of running to his side, like Juvia really wanted to, she placed her feelings aside and made Gray deal with Rufus for the sake of his pride. Also, Yukino is smiling now and being a bit more cheerful than just being quiet and skeptical of all that’s happening around her. After being humiliated by and kicked out of Sabertooth, then becoming apart of the army, it’s good that she’s loosening up now.
NEXT TIME TAKE IT ALL OFF GRAY! TAKE IT ALL OFF!!
In the next episode, we’ll probably find out who Flower Beam belongs to.
