But not with your face…
It is such a wonderful feeling to watch Ei-Chan continuously become more and more passionate about tennis! It was quite exciting to watch him face off against Takuma as despite the fact he was spooked by the 170km/hr serves, he quickly figured out what he needed to do with some helpful advice from Natsu (welcome the ball, don’t run away from it- which helps counter the speed and strength of the flying ball, as oppose to simply receiving it). Thanks to his extremely accurate notes, and his eye for perfection, Ei-Chan possesses a skill that he doesn’t even know he has, nor understands it the way the coach does. It takes a sharp eye to keep such close track to a speedy ball. It is thanks to this that Ei-Chan’s notes of Takuma’s trajectory were so accurate, thus resulting a speedy adaption to the sport and match.
With that said, Ei-Chan was able to hit at least 7/50 of Takuma’s serves, and could have very well hit the last ball had Takuma didn’t switch up a slice-serve (precisely because he, Natsu and the coach all realized there was a damn good possibility that Ei-Chan was going to hit it). But this just tells you that Takuma wasn’t willing to take that gamble of whether Ei-Chan would hit it or not because he doesn’t want to hold his end of the deal which is telling Ei-Chan why he got so angry at him. Ironically, Takuma did kind of already punch Ei-Chan in the face, though it was kind of Ei-Chan’s fault for running into the ball face first instead of using the racket, but it was thanks to that that he was able to understand what Natsu meant. By the end of the match, Ei-Chan was rewarded with an invitation to participate in the Kangawa Junior Circuit (a Tennis Tournament). It was so cute to see how anxious and excited he is for it, especially when he is playing against the 5th Seed, (Seeds are representives of ranking best players. He is playing against the the 5th best player of the tournament) Oobayashi.
One of the things I do think Ei-Chan needs to work on is his stamina and endurance since he is always playing 110% but by the end of his matches he has no energy left.
As Ei-Chan becomes more and more passionate about tennis and spending less time on studying, his ranking has dropped to fourth instead of first, which is perfectly fine (especially when he isn’t worried about it either), but there is someone who isn’t happy about that, (as a I suspect) this person has been working their ass off to try and defeat Ei-Chan, only to now to hear he is also playing Tennis, which only ticks them off even more. Oh joy…
This is pure speculation, but I get the feeling that one of the reasons Takuma isn’t playing as passionately and up to par of his abilities anymore and gets angry at people for assuming he wants to go pro because he is written off as a prodigy as oppose to people acknowledging the amount of effort he had put into his trainings. I figured this because of how Natsu responded to Ei-Chan after he remarked that she must not be nervous for the Kangawa Junior Circuit because she too is the first seed. She straight out told him that is not the case because that only creates an insane amount of pressure on her when there is no guarantee that she will win all her matches and fly by without any struggles.
Crap I really want to play tennis again… TT v TT But I’m not sure if my wrists would be able to hold up though, maybe I can do it while wearing splints…
