Impression:

“One, two, three, you’re annoying me”

This episode was doing well until they revealed that Maria is the newly awakened reborn Finè. You have got to be kidding me. I am not amused, not by the slightest. WTF worthy, definitely because the first thing that came out of my mouth is, “WHAT?”. Arg, I know that it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad thing for Maria to be recarniated Finè- but come on. Does it really have to revolve around Finè? Are there no other major villains to add? Sure she’s the goddess of whatever it was- but SERIOUSLY? I mean sure Finè and Maria definitely have a different personalities as Finè was batshit cray cray and here we have Maria who is shown to be quite caring towards her comrades (that it until they pull the card of truly awakening Finè’s soul).

Senki Zesshou Symphogear G Ep 3 Img 0019The next issue is Dr. Ver. Oh man, I seriously disappointed to see that he is working alongside with “Mom”, but with his personality and all, I wouldn’t be surprised if he does end up double crossing them in the future (especially if he were to be the one able to control the Nephilim). Then we finally learned what that skull was. It turns out it’s not part of Solomon’s Cane whatsoever, and instead it’s basically a revived fossil or whatever of Nephilim that is otherwise known as, “The Giant that fell from the Heavens”. Of course at the moment Nephilim is certainly no giant. Merely the size of a dog, but surely it will grow overtime thanks to whatever Dr. Ver is feeding it. Although he and “Mom” had mentioned they are having trouble controlling the beast, it seems they plan to use it to become a ‘heroric figure’ for humans. I have my doubts about that statement though. If anything they will use it to their advantage.
Senki Zesshou Symphogear G Ep 3 Img 0022On the more positive note, WTF-cliffy aside I really did enjoy the episode.
First of all, I love that the girls are going to be struggling to use their gears as during this week’s fight, their gear’s output was dropping to the point their power ended up recoiling against them, in particular Chris who was the first to experience that recoil. We don’t know whether it’s the Solomon’s Cane that is causing it (which also is used to summon and control the Noise… now that I think of it I think we might have seen it last season…), or whether that red gas that was released into the corridors had to do with it, or whether it was something else entirely that we will learn more about in the future episodes. With the added danger of recoils, it will definitely make the fights a whole lot more interesting. The next thing I was surprised to see that Shirabe and Kirika acknowledged the fact they are doing ‘evil things’ despite knowing they are wrong. I look forward to their back story and their reasons for their present decisions.
And that will be all for this week.
