“Screw faith… and God! You’re all idiots for not understanding Asia’s kindness!”
Synopsis: Second season of High School DxD. Issei Hyodo is your average perverted high school student whose one wish in life is to have his own harem, but he’s got to be one of the unluckiest guys around. He goes on his first date with a girl only to get brutally attacked and killed when it turns out the girl is really a vicious fallen angel. To top it all off, he’s later reincarnated as a devil by his gorgeous senpai who tells him that she is also a devil and now his master! One thing’s for sure, his peaceful days are over. In a battle between devils and angels, who will win?
Impression:
High School DxD… getting better with every episode! For a show that is known mainly for it’s ecchi elements (of which there were many in this episode), I was pleasantly surprised to see a lot of drama and dramatic tension. Now I’m not saying ‘I watch High School DxD for the plot!’, no, I’m not saying that in the slightest, but, what I am saying is this: High School DxD was originally (and technically still is) a light novel series and so the ‘plot‘ was focused on more since, well, y’know, you’ve got to find something to fill 200+ of reading material. Sure boobs, butts and nipples are the highlight of the series in both light novel and anime formats, but there is a plot and, no matter how average it is, it does sometimes shine and this predominantly ecchi series does a pretty darn good job of developing some of it’s characters… for an ecchi anyway… On to the episode!
Freed is gay causing me much distress and I hate him. There, I got it out of my system. Now, just to clarify for all you Chris (that’s me by the way) haters out there, I don’t I hate him because he’s gay and it’s not like I think someone being gay is an insult, I just… fine, let me change my wording… done, happy now? I’m not sure if I like this ‘Holy Sword Arc’. It’s interesting to see Kiba being useful for once and I’m glad he’s being given some depth, it’s just… it doesn’t feel very High School DxD. It’s actually kinda dark, y’know? Child experimentation, prejudice towards minorities (and by minorities I mean devils… yes, yes, I know it sounds stupid, but put it into context okay?!) and the issues to pologamy… Huh? Issei’s not going to start a harem? One man sharing his bed with two women is apparently fine in Japanese animated culture? Damn you Issei you lucky bastard you!
All that being said, let’s get back to the point. Boobs. Kiba. Why you gotta be so depressing man? Yes, yes, I get it okay, he’s been through some sh*t and the f*ckers that did it to him have returned, I respect that! But I knew from day one that Kiba’s unsettling smile was hiding his true dark nature… that’s why I don’t like characters like his! They’re always either A. evil or B. full of pent up depressing bullsh*t that makes me want to scoop my eyes out and eat them. I’m watching High School DxD to relax (and also to see oppai), not to have to think about my morals and dab the sides of my eyes with tissues as Asia, the most moe devil of all, is harassed by some bitch who doesn’t know what she’s talking about! I should be using those tissues to deal with other liquids during an episode of High School DxD! (Hehe, sperm jokes)
We now have a reason for the amount of women who have begun surrounding Issei! Ddraig… Even though I’m presuming it’s the heroic aura that the power of Draig that’s given off that attracts the ladies, I’d like to think that the Sacred Gear produces an aphrodisiac that lures in all the women… all the women… all the women…
And speaking of Sacred Gear’s… I’m presuming we’re going to meet this second Sacred Gear user this season? Maybe he/she will be the final fight of the season? Whilst I’m interested in the prospect of someone with equal to or greater powers than Issei, I’d rather see Issei face a few more foes before facing such an important character… at least, I presume this ‘other dragon’ will be important… if not all of this foreshadowing has been wasted on me…
And another thing! How do they plan to advance the story is Issei and the group sit out the upcoming battle the Fallen Angels… unless maybe Rias decides to change the plan and instead go up against the Holy Sword wielders and the Fallen Angels alike? I’m sure that would be Kiba’s preferred method of doing things… Dark Kiba? Hopefully he returns to his creepy smiling self again sometime soon…
And, of course, the boobs in this episode were brilliant. Asia and Rias put on a stunning show for us at the beginning of the episode, Rias following up the act alongside Akeno and two school officials. My, my. Whilst it’s a shame that Irina, Xenovia and Koneko missed out on all the bare chested fun, I’m sure we’ll get to see their oppai’s in later episodes… Xenovia’s and Irina’s will probably appear in the next episode however when Issei beats them and somehow their clothes tear/fall off…
To conclude, episode 2 provides another brilliant viewing of High School DxD. Whilst I’m concerned about the ‘darker’ moments in the show, I can’t complain too much because plot is plot and drama is drama and boobs are oppai… The comical aspects of the show didn’t fail to keep my entertained (namely the scene where Rias almost allow Issei to ‘kiss’ her boobs and then Asia stops her) and the boobs are still brilliant. Here’s to another great episode of High School DxD!
