“Hello, is this the police? I’d like to report a loli-pedo hybrid in the neighborhood”
Synopsis: N/A
Impression:
I think I’m in love with this show… okay, now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, I think it’s time to break the bad news, this episode wasn’t as good as the last one. But please! Do not despair, for HenNeko has managed to last at least 7 episodes of continual awesomeness and it was almost a certainty that it would falter eventually. I just had to happen.
I didn’t like Emi. Sure, she was cute and sure, she was funny, but where was her character? I like Youto because his CHARACTER is funny. I like Tsukiko because her CHARACTER is cute and passively humorous. I like Asuza because her CHARACTER is also cute and her temper tantrums are also quite funny. Hell, I even like Tsukushi (CHARACTER… had to throw it in there somewhere right?). Emi… no. All she does is run around wishing for things and throwing bras at Youto… and I don’t like it! But you know what I do like? Tsukiko’s ‘grrrr’ at the beginning of the episode… so cute. Also, did anyone else think that this Emi girl was actually Asuza until Youto confronted her? What actually happened to Asuza’s wish? What did she even wish for? What is going on…? More on that in a moment. To conclude, Emi isn’t my kind of character. She might be your kind of character and I’m totally fine with that, but the cute pink haired girl who has a Youto fetish just isn’t doing it for me. She came out of nowhere and she had a mini stone cat that she uses to make wishes…? Just how many of these cats are there?!
But… as I was saying, this plot is very slowly becoming convoluted and confusing. And whilst I might’ve been cool with that back in the days before I reviewed anime, I’m not cool with it any more… especially when it seems as though the reasoning behind it all is also going to be convoluted. I’m sure this Emi girl must have at least something to do with Asuza because… well… if Emi isn’t Ponta’s rabbit and she’s in pictures with Youto that he doesn’t seem to remember… just who is this girl? For stories sake, I hope the reasoning behind who and maybe even what she is is explained well. For enjoyments sake, I hope the show doesn’t become too serious again too quickly because, you know, it is meant to be a romantic comedy or at least that’s what it says on the tin…
I know I used to hate Tsukiko and Tsukushi but now I find myself feeling A. sympathetic towards Tsukiko’s plight, B. burdened with the question ‘will Tsukiko ever return to normal?’ and C. indifferent about the whole ‘Tsukushi ordeal’. Let’s talk about Tsukiko first… Tsukiko just wants to be with Youto, that’s more than evident at this point. The most appealing part of Tsukiko’s character is how cute she is, but there’s more to her than that and it was this new persona that we were able to see fully in episode 8. Remember in episode 1 when Tsukiko would hide around corners watching Youto interact with Azusa? Well now she’s flat out telling him to stop being a man whore. And when she ‘hints’ (very bluntly) about the whole ‘I don’t want to be with you all the time’ ordeal I couldn’t help but feel sorry for Youto. Poor guy.
Tsukushi? She’s silly. Silly girl. So silly. Silly girl thinks that Youto is two people when he’s only one person. Silly girl.
To conclude, this episode was still awesome, but it wasn’t as awesome as the last 7 episodes… here’s to the plot not being convoluted!
