Hataraku Maou-sama!Animation Company: WHITE FOX

Summary: Devil King Sadao is only one step away from conquering the world when he is beaten by Hero Emilia and forced to drift to the other world: modern-day Tokyo. Story/Plot: 8/10
Hataraku Maou-sama! Ep 1 Img 0016BLESS YOU HATARAKU MAOU-SAMA FOR HAVING PLOT.
Seriously this is what made the show succesful and prevented it from running into the repetitive-gag-cycle that far too many comedy focused series run into these days and is frankly what made it possible for me in the first place. There was always something to talk about because every episode had enough depth for you to discuss and keep up your interest.
Character & Development: 8/10

Hataraku Maou-sama! Ep 7 Img 0010All the characters in this show are extremely likable, especially Maou-sama, goodness gracious he is such a precious guy. As for actual character development, surprisingly now that I think about it, it’s really only Suzuno and Emilia who truly have any development at all. Unfortunately we didn’t learn too much about Maou’s background and how he became who he is today in comparison to how life was in Ente Ilsa. So with that in mind, I will be giving this an eight.
Hataraku Maou-sama! Ep 1 Img 0003Animation Quality: 7/10
Admittedly, this is quite a shockingly low score for WHITE FOX, but I can’t ignore the inconsistency of maintaining the animation quality. However make no mistake, these blunders do not effect the show whatsoever, I do expect that the DVD/BD will be nicely touched up (I hope).
OST: 8/10
The OST is as expected, dorky but epic at times when it needs to be since this show does contain some awesome fights.
Overall Score: 9/10
Hataraku Maou-sama! initially started off as the underdog of the SPRING 2013 lineup but had quickly became one of the hottest shows of the season. This comedy possesses a rare quality called PLOT. The fact that it has that vital element allowed the show to really soar and avoid running into the repetitive gags track. However every episode had something different for you to laugh about, and even though there were a few things that would stick around because it’s part of the characters- they always tweaked it a bit so that it wouldn’t be the same old over and over again. I genuinely hope this series will get a second season.
Recommendation: Absolutely, if you haven’t watched it- add it to your Watch-List and make it one of your priorities to marathon this summer!
