OH MY GOD MY HEART, MY SHIPPER HEART!!!!
OH MY GOD THE FEELS. I CANNOT, BRB DROWNING IN A SEA OF EMOTIONS. HOLY SHIT, MIYUKI YOU’RE KILLING ME, I CANNOT RIGHT NOW!!!!! IT ACTUALLY MOVED ME TO TEARS.
I couldn’t be more happier that Miyuki was so concerned about Izumiko and that despite how intimidating the Himegami was (seriously she is terrifying!) and her bold seduction approaches, he mustered up the courage to defy her and do everything in his power in hopes to bring back Izumiko. This pierced me right in the feels because as we saw in the beginning of the episode, Izumiko was frustrated and sad that people who knows she is the vessel of the Himegami only cares about protecting her because is the vessel and not because of herself. Miyuki this episode was the only one who showed that he cares and put Izumiko first before the Himegami and is concerned about what would happen to her if the Himegami takes complete possession of her body. (Also can we also take a moment to appreciate that Miyuki was saying that he actually doesn’t mind her braids and was blushing about it?)
The Himegami revealed to us that she isn’t exactly a God, but was initially a human from Izumiko’s family line with unusual powers that are/were either described as divine or a curse as she had told us she was murdered for it during her second life. She is the one who personally brought demise to Human Beings, but it was thanks to that she lost her body which allowed her to travel through the past in hopes to find someone who understood her and help her hold back from repeating the future demise. This is actually her third time she has passed through thousands of generations of women. However since she is gradually forgetting who she is/was, she doubts there will be a fourth time and that this is her last chance to change the fate of the future.
As I predicted last episode, Izumiko is increasingly standing her ground and starting to ask questions as well of trying to be courageous and do new things that she wouldn’t typically do. Of course as result it seems to be triggering the Himegami’s awakening as well, even more so as their school festival theme for the event/trial this year is directly related the Himegami’s past (which can’t be a coincidence eyes Yukimasa suspiciously I HAVE MY EYE ON YOU). Izumiko had even pointed out to Miyuki that she wants to change and that she doesn’t want to stay in braids for the rest of her life and as result of his remark of saying she needs to learn self-defense if she wishes to be independent, she asks him to teach her. She practices “Hayakuji” which turns out to remain in effect that apparently is preventing the Himegami from leaving against her will. However I don’t know whether the incantation that Miyuki used was something that can counter it since it looked like Izumiko might have heard him calling her judging by her how eye reacted. Oh gosh my heart, I can’t get over that scene. It’s so beautiful. SOBS
Yukimasa remarked that the Himegami and Izumiko are one and the same, but Izumiko knows that they are two entirely different entities, but the question is whether Izumiko is able to keep her place and not be completely taken over by the Himegami. Her mother showed us that they can share a body if handled properly, and I think in order to do that Izumiko must first get stronger which may help restrain the Himegami from killing off humanity, especially if she can somehow overpower the Himegami (which may seem unlikely, but with Miyuki’s help, she might be able to pull it off).
Speaking of one and the same, as result to what had happened at Togakushi, without realizing it, Miyuki had ended up melding with Wamiya. Although the Himegami had temporally removed Wamiya from Miyuki, I imagine that in order to protect Izumiko he will meld with Wamiya once more in order to combine their powers and be capable to stand their own ground and be able to support Izumiko herself when it comes down to the moment when they will have to do everything in their power to hold the Himegami back.
