“Tsubame, fly somewhere, far away.” – Yotaka

Summary:

Yotaka seems to be out of control. Now that the person behind the drug experimentation appeared, Gareki’s in full grudge and so is Yotaka. Meanwhile, Yotaka’s been controlling himself not to kill anyone in his full transformed state but with another push of adrenalin from the unknown man, it was impossible to ignore the situation any longer.

Karneval Episode 5 - (24)Sorry for the late post, guys. I plan to write a review on every episode of shows I am covering within 24 hours but couldn’t make it this time because of my trip. Don’t worry; I had fun (as if you are interested anyway). So, before I get so off topic and ruin this review through telling stories what happened during my trip (which were fun, by the way), let us all go back on discussing about Yotaka. He’s a like a vampire and with – what?! Is that rasengan? Okay, wrong show but it does look like one and can I just simply say that THAT kind of power is so out of place with respect to its user’s specie characteristics? I mean, Yotaka’s like a vampire who longs for human blood and kills ‘em for food but then how? He blazes up a blue round thingy in any direction he likes to in order to step down on his prey. I swear, I expected a whip by then or something like, long nails on long claws while everything’s dripping blood but then I saw a blue orb, dancing on the air to get into his target. LOL I laughed at this (meh, this is Karneval anyway so I guess weird weapons and magic are normal). Gareki seems to be surprised of what’s going on as well (can I add maybe he’s surprised about the kind of attack being used as well?). With Yogi being that serious, this only means that Yotaka is on the climax stage of the drugs being fed to him from before, making him inhuman and uncontrollable by his consciousness. Considering how Gareki had been through and how his “family” filled his life after he had been washed away on a shore, I can understand why he’s so not into finishing Yotaka and stop him instead.

Karneval Episode 5 - (12)
CUTE GAREKI IS CUTE. NO ARGUMENT IS ALLOWED.

This episode shown more about Gareki’s life and past – especially his time with the twins and some scenes telling us reasons why Gareki’s been the way he is. He’s gloomy and stands out of the way of everybody else and doesn’t want to get involved into other business as he wants others not to get involved with other people’s business. Although this is something he couldn’t shake off with Nai – who’s very persistent into involving himself with Gareki as much since he’s scared of Gareki, being hurt. And as much as how hurt Gareki is on abandoning his family, it was the only way to get them out of danger – protecting them and making sure they are safe and sound. But I am thankful that Nai is a character that’s pretty much naïve and would seriously cling into something he believes in no matter what and this is what kind of person Gareki needs in order to destroy that wall he’s been building up all his life between him and the people around him.

Tsubame seems to be doing fine – aside from her memory loss of what she had done when she was partially transformed and killed people. By the way Yogi said that he could still do something to Yotaka while he’s still not yet fully transformed, I guess the effects of the drugs can still be cured and have both of the twins’ life, safe. But then again – everything would be too late if ever they do transform fully! What’s worse, our main characters doesn’t have “kill thy friends” on their vocabulary either and this means danger.

This man, who appeared before Tsubame when she was in the middle of her confused state must have been the man that used Tsubaki on feeding the twins with drugs and the main cause of Tsubaki’s death. I’m happy for Gareki since he appeared but he appeared in front of Nai – who’s seriously defenseless towards harmful and scary people. But then again, sexy Gareki is here to the rescue!

Karneval Episode 5 - (45)So it seems that Yotaka’s a smart fellow as well and caring brother at that too. And man, is their “do everything for money in order to live” sense is hereditary? LOL I guess it does runs in the family. And meeting that guy who was behind this all mess made me understand Gareki’s feelings more. I mean, I could swear I can punch my monitor right there and then when he said he wanted to make love with Tsubaki more. Oh for heaven’s sake, no more perverted handsome guys, please. I guess this man’s Varuga powers is more advanced than those Varugas that we have encountered so far. These Varuga experiments reminded me so much of those experiments made from an anime series called Daughter of Twenty Faces. Like them, they were experimenting on human bodies and make use of them for war. The effects of the experiment weren’t the same though and that show stick to its natural flow.

By the way, it’s not only because they are twins but because they understand each other as twins. There are twins in real life that no matter how you wanted them to get along with each other, there would comes a time they couldn’t be able to do a good resonance together – well, it’s not that there had been experiments about it, but it’s just my opinion. They just shared the same womb when they were still unborn – there’s really nothing special about twins if they, themselves, don’t want to understand each other. Being twins is just not enough. It’s because they have lived life together, may it be during ups and downs and even until it’s on a life-and-death situation where one has to sacrifice for the other. It’s because of his love to his family that Yotaka was able to remain conscious as a human.

Man, Hirato, you are just perfect in timing. It could’ve haunted Gareki for life if he was the one who has to end Yotaka’s life there. I know ending Yotaka’s life was the only choice left in that situation. This episodes seems to be a little too dark compared to the previous ones – maybe it’s because we are dealing with one of the main character’s dark past and the gruesome experiment the other party has been doing. But I’d like a little more comedy here. /sobs
