‘Little bean… you’ve totally changed’
Youto, Youto, Youto… would you just grow a pair already? You’ve got these two girls swooning over you and you’re pushing both of them away? I get that the Azuki ordeal was on purpose and you’re just trying to help her make friends, but why oh why do you need to keep pushing Tsukiko away? In this episode she proved to me, once and for all, that dandere can be cute, but you on the other hand Youto have proved to me, yet again, that you, and all male protagonists in romantic comedies, are idiots who cannot take a hint. Your a pervert… but you’re not interested in getting with girls? I’m seeing a problem here…
Rant aside… Yay bikinis! I’m not sure what it is about Japanese culture/stereotypes that makes them so interested in young girls’ bodies, but am I that only one who finds it uncomfortable when girls, who are portrayed as younger girls, strip down and the animation company makes a big deal about how flat chested they are and how child like there bodies are? I mean, I don’t know about you guys, but where I’m from, this sort of child attraction can get you put in jail… I dunno, I just think that if my mum walked in whilst I was watching this, she’d call the police… Moral dilemmas aside, I really loved the Azuki section of this episode. Not only did it showcase her as an individual character, it also showcased the other two girls who I had previously come to hate. Whilst it was humorous (and cute) to see Azuki becoming increasingly annoyed at Youto’s ignorance of her, I found it interesting to see her just miss his call and then realize that there are other people in her life besides him (as in, the two really tanned chicks). I’m not sure if it was the authors way of ousting Azuki as a potential love candidate for good, but it worked pretty well… I see no chance of her and Youto ever getting together now… it’s a shame really. I mean, Azuki really is a great character and now that she’d finally handed her facade back she’s even better… I just want more Youto x Azuki action, y’know? They’d make a great couple…
The other half of the episode dealt with Tsukiko, Tsutsukakushi and the missing house incident… I implore you, tell me how an entire house disappears? I get that all of his stuff appears at the end of the episodes as if by magic, but an entire house? Just what kind of cat is this?! In my last review I mentioned that Youto’s nonchalant reaction to his family home disappearing was quite worrying… On the bright side, at least his family is in Guam… why are they in Guam? Who the hell knows… The Tsukiko half the episode was simply there to provide situational humor and the odd bit of plot development… oh and incest… they’re really into the incest… That’s another thing… Japanese people and incest? I thought that was more of a medieval Europe kinda thing, not a modern day high school kinda thing… just saying. I’m glad that the ‘romance’ side of things is finally being touched upon and I’m glad that they are exploiting the fan service aspect of things TOO MUCH, but I really just want to see the plot develop a bit more… although is guess the next episode looks set to deal with that so I can’t really complain… I’m intrigued as to why Tsutsukakushi started crying (is Tsukiko leaving? If so why? If so is this gong to be a major plot point? As in, will Youto finally have to decide which girl he likes?!?!), I mean, I expected something emotional like this to happen eventually, but it’s still interesting!
So yeah, nudity, incest and crying… pretty much sums up this episode. It was good, not as good as the last episode mind, but still good. I’m intrigued as to what’s going to happen next and I really want to see Youto and Azuki’s romantic tension (if you can call a one sided romance that) some more… but yeah, overall a good episode… And damn you Tsukiko with your cute cat ears! Damn you!
P.S, how is Youto going to explain to his parents how he lost their house?
