Hataraku Maou-sama! Episode 3

There wasn’t an OP last week was there? Ahaha. I love that it’s made entirely of Ep 1 & 2 footage.
WOOOO MAOU IS BACK IN HIS TRUE FORM! I wasn’t expecting him to be this bulky. He got his magic back, but it might be just temporally or he is able to revert into his “human” form to conceal his identity. With that said, I was super pleased to see that Maou’s personality did not change when he reverted to his true form (I just swooned when he told Emilia to take care of Chiho). His kindness and desire to help others completely threw Emilia off because she wasn’t expecting him to do that. Now that she has seen his soft side while as the Satan Lord himself, I am sure she is going to question her purpose of defeating him- who is supposed to be a tyrant who conquers the lands. This could be an interesting turn of events since their enemy (whoever it is) may be the true evil one who plans to lead both Maou and Emi to their demise. Emilia had mentioned that she thought that all of the Hell’s generals, save Alsiel. I think that they may be creating a red herring with Alsiel since right in the beginning of the episode, he pointed out that he is “evil” since he is, after all a demon. I wouldn’t put it past me, but I would be sorely disappointed if it were to be Alsiel as the culprit because I love him, and adore his loyalty towards Maou.
The next interesting thing that happened this episode is that because of Chiho’s location being the pin-point where the Idea Link (as Maou had called it) is taking place, not only it is the cause for the earthquakes, but also causes Chiho to hear voices (most likely from Emilia’s team). They were the ones to mention a big earthquake was going to happen soon. It sounds to me that they might already be on Earth since they are aware of the earthquakes and warned each other to be careful. However I can’t help but wonder whether was the big was actually caused by them, or was that a natural one that they have sensed on their own. On top of that, the ‘big one’ brought forward enough magic for Maou to resume his true form. Personally I don’t think it was the enemy doing this because that would take away both Maou’s and Emilia’s disadvantage- unless they wanted to play a fair game, but I have a hard time wrapping my head around that- especially if they are evil as they seem to be.
It was really funny to see Alsiel drag Maou to a clothing store to make sure he is dressed up appropriately (and not in his favorite UNISLO apparel) for his date. Chiho looked absolutely stunning with her new haircut and hee lovely green dress (can I have it?). Maou is clearly oblivious to this kind of stuff, and just agrees to hold hands with Chiho without catching on her reason behind her request. Instead he figures it is the most piratical way to not get separated. It was hilarious to see Emilia interrupt Chiho when she is about the confess and gives them a piece of their minds. And then Chiho thinks that Emilia is Maou’s ex and our dear Heroine is just baffled by this assumption.
Definitely the best part of the episode was when Emilia had to go and bail Alsiel and Maou out after the police had tracked them down as the owner of the bicycle that had bullet marks on it.
