Wilhelmina is entrusted with Johan’s and Phele’s baby and Shana encourages her to go into the new world to raise the child. In the mean time, Lamis completes his role and wish, and then gives Yuuji a parting gift that can only be activated according certain conditions. Then finally, Yuuji and Shana face off once again while Margery battles against Sydonay while Yoshida does one more favour for Yuuji.
Eva’s Final Impression:
EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFUL AND NOTHING HURTS!!!
OH
MY
FREAKING
HEART
I AM SO HAPPY!!! I AM SO FREAKING HAPPY BECAUSE LAMIS IS THE BEST FUCKING CHARACTER IN THE WORLD, AND I KNEW HE WAS ALWAYS THE ULTIMATE SHANA x YUUJI SHIPPER AND GIVING YUUJI THAT RING AND HAVING FULFILLED HIS OWN WISH (HE WAS SO HAPPY! I WANTED TO CRY) AND AHHHHHHHH MY EMOTIONS! EVERYTHING IS PERFECT!
Last week I was really worried how the finale was going to turn out, and I’m so proud to say that they nailed it. They gave us that fight, they explained the reasons why Yuuji wasn’t done fighting yet and how that being alone was going to be a way for him to atone his sins.
Oh Yuuji you idiot! All you had to do was ask! Shana was more than happy to obliged to help you out! THAT’S TRUE LOVE!!!! DID YOU REALLY THINK SHE WAS GOING TO LET YOU GO THAT EASILY?
The confession- well… Shana already confessed earlier this season, but we finally got to see Yuuji to say it out in front of her. The kiss was absolutely ROMANTIC! I can’t stop gushing how lovely it is!
In the beginning of the episode, I was almost certain that Shana was going to be staying in Misaki City with Margery. So at the time, I felt really sad about Wilhelmina being separated from Shana, but I also felt so happy for her, to have been entrusted with Johan’s and Pheles’ baby!
The entire battle really made up for the lost screen time that was devoted to the Gods and Shana’s Flame Haze Team VS the Tomogaras, and not to forget Yoshida, (who in the end didn’t die…). I’m definitely more satisfied to see the the quality of this episode was TOP NOTCH and the colours and everything was absolutely vibrant and glorious. The fight between Margery and Sydonay was extremely epic, I was blown away by both characters’ true form. I must say both of them were extremely badass, and their fight- though it was mostly focused on ripping each other apart, was fun to watch.
However that’s not the focus, the real fight between Shana and Yuuji, who was very much preoccipied sprouting his excuses why he can’t be with Shana because it makes him (as part of atoning his sins as mentioned in the above). I’m glad that Shana went all out, and that Yuuji was somehow able to survive all that- you’d be he’d be roasted by then- especially when he’s… wait… I don’t really know when he became human again during the fight- I suppose it was when he lost his epic long hair (which I already miss dearly).
And finally, having the first opening song from the the first season (Hishoku no Sora by Mami Kawada) during all this was like icing on a cake with many cherries on top. It left such a greater impact and really brought from the nostalia from when we watched Shakugan no Shana for the first time.
This was absolutely a brilliant way to end the series. A happy ending for everyone, and I am definitely satisfied with this conclusion even though I really wanted to see a wedding.
So this is it for Shakugan no Shana, this was the final season (hence why this is entitled as Shakugan no Shana III Final).
Stay tuned for our Overall Review
Vantage’s Final Impression
Hecate and Sydonay, hoping to be reunited with Sairei no Hebi sometime in the future…
Eita, Ogata, Ike and Kazumi back at school, joined by a recently-revived Hirai Yukari…
Keisaku on his computer with Margery, who is drunk once again…
Wilhelmina and Rebecca, in the Tendo-kyu with Engage Link’s baby Justus…
And Shana and Yuuji, finally together, walking into the distance as they look into each other’s eyes…
You know, I really hate end of seasons sometimes, because that’s usually the time when all the epic series have their mindblowing finales, leaving us depressed for the next few days at how empty life feels without it. Code Geass and Anohana are two prime examples, and now it’s time to add Shana to that list.
I swear it felt just like yesterday when I saw the new Yuuji for the first time, and that it was going to be a full-blown war. Even after all that, Yuuji’s attempt to atone really showed he was a good guy, but like Alastor I think he was totally being too hard on himself – sure there were casualties, but it was for the best in the end, wasn’t it?
The final battle between Yuuji and Shana was made immensely cooler with both the original season OP playing and Sydonay duking it out with Margery in a final battle. It’s quite scary to think that all this time, neither of them had gone all out until now – and even scarier when the Fuzetsu undid itself and the entire city was watching two giant creatures try to tear each other apart.
I’m so glad for them, that everyone got their happy ending – Yuuji became a human again with Lamies’ help, Misaki City was restored to normal and the Flame Haze and Tomogara are split between Xanadu and the current world, meaning that the load on both worlds is less. It’s hard to believe that it was indirectly Hirai Yukari that started the entire thing, since if she hadn’t been torched out, Yuuji wouldn’t have acted to save her, gotten involved with Shana, and eventually bonded with a god to create a new paradise world. Even in the end, it’s Yukari’s torch that Yuuji wanted off Shana, but he should have just asked! Also, urusai goodness made it’s way back into the finale, as it deserves to. Melon pan might have been a bit OOC here though xD
Shana and Yuuji flying out in the night sky was so unbelievably romantic, then they kissed and EVERYTHING in the world felt right~ Yuuji’s “I feel like I can do anything!” made me feel so happy for them both, and after all this, a happily ever after ending is the least of what they deserve. This is how it should be done, Guilty Crown, watch and learn. Bring back Inori you fools.
JC Staff, I know I haven’t been terribly impressed by you in the past, but for everything you’ve done this season (Ano Natsu, Shana, ZnT) I’m willing to start a clean slate with the romance series you do. Thanks guys, it’s been an amazing run.
Goodbye Shakugan no Shana¡¡¡ One of my all-time favorite animes
Wow, just WOW, an AWESOME AND BEAUTIFUL finale to an amazing series…
As i read somewhere, this series looked like from the begginning that it would have a sad( maybe tragic) ending, with the Torch, Tomogara and Flame Hazes roles. It pointed more that way, if we think how this season started, with Yuji on the “bad” side( that ended up not being bad, in some aspects) and Shana having to fight him. But…
AWWWWWW YEAHHHHH, WE GOT A HAPPY ENDING, and a well deserved one in that matter.
I was sad that Khamsim died… He REALLY didn’t deserve this… But i liked the fact he played a major role in this seasons…
About the fights: Shana and Yuji’s fight was awesome, so was Margery and Sydonai’s, and to get even better the whole city was watching it, with no Fuzetsu!
Margery and Sydonai finally putting and end to their fights throughout the many ages since they first met was brilliant, and he meeting Hecate in the afterlife was nice.
Now to Yuji and Shana’s fight, wow, what can i say? It was brilliant, although the whole thing seemed more of a lover’s quarrel than a fight, they really wanted to show each other their love towards one another… Shana’s Urusai! Urusai! Urusai! FINALLY made a comeback and she finally put an end to Yuji’s self-imposed atonement. I guess the whole fight showed that they really loved each other and wanted to be together above all other things ( DAWWWWWWWW…).
OMG, OMG THAT KISSSSS!!!!! It was SO ROMANTIC, and to improve it a lot more, that entire scene happened when both of them were flying… Well, i guess waiting for almost 7 years for that was worth it, right everyone? 😀
I really got attached to this anime, have to say i watched all three seasons in the last 4 or 5 days hahaha 😀
I don’t really know why, but i think i would have prefered that they stayed in Earth together, but thinking about it, Yuji had his mission and all. Ah well, i’m both sad and happy. Sad that this series came to an end( i will misssssss itttt!) and happy for the espectacular ending Jc.Staff made for this fantastic series.
