Well, it’s all out in the open now, at least as far as Rui is concerned (and as far as everyone is concerned very soon, judging by the end of this episode). Small blessings. I cringed when she kissed him though. They really can’t let her go down with a little dignity, huh? I just don’t understand. She’s so much better than Natsuo and everyone else in this godforsaken show. Why does everyone like this faux-deep loser? And should she really have to make an effort to dislike him considering all the shit he’s done to her? I know I’m managing pretty easily, that’s for sure. And she is handling this way more discreetly than either Natsuo or Hina deserve. Which is fair, I would also be a little reluctant to rip my family apart and put my sister in jail too. But god damn it she deserves some form of justice.

Natsuo’s face when Rui’s writing prize gets announced is one of the most satisfying things I have ever seen. Take that, you pretentious fuckboy. Sorry nobody wants to read your thinly-veiled self-insert fanfiction. The ego of this guy, my god. He’s just smashed Rui’s heart into a million pieces and he can’t even let her have this one little thing without throwing a shitfit? I loved seeing Kiriya call him out while also implying that Natsuo’s untalented. Though I’m still mad that he essentially ended up agreeing to mentor him in the end.

After that, most of the episode is taken up by the trip to Okinawa that seems to be a graduation requirement of every Japanese high school (where do kids from Okinawa go?). Not a whole lot to see there until Hina and Natsuo get up to their usual nonsense. I have to say, it’s been a few episodes since he was introduced now and I still don’t understand Al’s purpose. He’s just this big gaijin pain in the ass who gets in the way of everything. I suppose I’ll have to read the manga to find out whether he ever ends up actually doing something.

But anyway, back to said Hina/Natsuo nonsense. How exactly does one go from dumping someone to getting secretly engaged to/having sex with them? I guess anything is possible with Responsible Adult (TM) Hina. Also jeeeeez this episode got kinda lewd for a second here, even by the show’s own high standards.

WHOA THERE. It is a good thing I wasn’t drinking anything when he said this because I most certainly would have spit it all over my screen. Jesus fucking Christ, Natsuo must be stopped. Also like… did anyone actually need that explanation for why Hina called out Shuu’s name instead of Natsuo’s while she was masturbating? Because personally, I was good on that front. But hey, more fuel for Natsuo’s rapidly-expanding ego. Whyever the heck not, eh?

Anyway, it looks like this rendezvous is the fatal one, because they have been caught right out. I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, yes, good, this is finally blowing up in their faces. This pleases me. On the other hand, though, I can’t believe with how indiscreet they are at school, the way they finally get caught is in that grainy-ass zoomed-in photo from Okinawa. Who was even bothering to look at them in that photo? I mean, it’s plausible, I’m not denying that. I’m just saying if the people at their school are this eagle-eyed, maybe they shouldn’t have been kissing in the hallways. Regardless, the finale is going to be absolutely hilarious. I shall miss this dumpster fire.

Well, Al really did a lot of stuff in the manga. This moment with him being drunk and kissing Natsuo and Kiriya? Later on, Al got drunk again and tried to unironically rape Rui (she kissed him before that trying to forget Natsuo, and then Al overheard them talking about their relationship). I mean, you REALLY should read the manga. I can’t believe how much stuff hey’ve excised for this adaptation. Natsuo is a bit better in the manga, and the side characters have got much more development there. Also there are very special ##.5 chapters…
Sorry for my broken English, btw.

Say what you want, but it’s really hard to look away from this. I’m just watching this with my jaw dropped on the floor, but to their credit, at least it’s not School Days. I never really thought much about Natsuo, but with all these emotions and such, I don’t think that I would fare any better if I was in his case.
