Okay, so I am going to be completely honest with you: I did not enjoy this episode, it was agonizing to watch. I am just at loss for words, I can’t even think. Perhaps it would have helped if I were actually invested in Zero Two and Hiro, as they were the focus of the episode. But the thing is, I just don’t care for their characters, that’s just how it is. Sure they have a cute relationship and all, but I am not attached to them to the point I will cry for them— and I am the type of person who would cry a river when this kind of stuff happens. In fact I am a bit surprised at myself for how indifferent I was to the whole scene. Maybe it was too corny for me? Who knows, but the lack of interest definitely played a big part in that. Anyone, Zero Two got to have some “bonding time” with her creator (Dr. Franxx) before he died, and inherited the will of the Klaxosaur Princess after she acknowledged their will to live for the future. That’s how they were able to avert the crisis of the planet being blown up. Unfortunately, VIRM still managed to obtain Hringhorni, lovely.

However the primarily problem I had with this episode, was how it wasn’t even ten minutes into the episode, and I had already stopped caring about what was happening. I couldn’t help but feel confused and irritated with the development. I was done, so done because what hell is this shit!? This is not good chaos, this is is a god damn mess in the worse way possible. Also what the hell was that ending for the episode? I don’t understand it at all. VIRM leaves with the Lance Hringhorni , says they’ll be back to fight another day…. This is supposed to be 24 episodes, and I don’t understand why we are seeing VIRM retreat now, let alone why this fight even unfolded this way. So Squad 13 will be experiencing a second round with the VIRMS. Frankly I don’t even know what to think anymore. Just, WHY DID THEY GO THIS DIRECTION? This whole alien fiasco didn’t have to turn out this way. Yes the aliens factor was foreshadowed from the beginning, but UGHHHHHH, I HATE THE WAY IT WAS EXECUTED! So frustrating!

Amazingly, the only ones I cared about this episode, were the Nines. Because holy shit, despite Papa’s betrayal, they insisted to remain loyal to him, that is until the VIRMS attacked them, and proceeded to kill them all but Alpha… and that was brutal to watch, especially Delta’s death. The Nines really cared for one another, especially when they put their members lives above the orders they received. My heart ached for them because they were raised this way, and ultimately when it came to having to make the split decision of choosing sides, they were behind a beat, which ultimately led to their downfall. I am curious to see what Alpha will do now. It’s the first time we have seen him cry. He could easily continue going berserk, or…. will he finally align with Squad 13? Not gonna lie, I would love to see that, especially since we never got to see the rebellion that should have happened, happen. At this point, we have already long passed the opportunity of impact for Squad 13 going against Papa’s orders, (*aside from the fact being able to think for themselves enabled to survive in the first place), but if Alpha does it, now that would leave an impression!

So pretty much death everywhere, Dr. Franxx is dead, Klaxosaur Princess is dead, all of the Nines (but Alpha) are dead, the fodders are dead too. Amazingly, Squad 13 for most part got out of this in one piece… that is except for Zero Two who looks like she is dead too. She will probably be okay, though… somehow. I am sure there is some magic they can whip together to make sure she gets a second chance at life. Ichigo and Goro had a close call, Ikuno is definitely on the Death Watch with the sudden shift to white hair (Mitsuru included, unless it had to do with the lighting).

I have no idea what will happen next. A part of me wonders if there is going to be a time jump or something.
Either way, I am just going to go into next episode with a fresh mindset. I think that’s the only thing I can do at this point.

Had the same reaction watching this episode.
I felt like I was parachuted out of burning airplane on into two warring zombies factions. I would absolutely hate it if they make a substantial time jump next episode. If that happens, Franxx for me is a train wreak.

The reviews are why I stopped watching Darling of the Asspull around episode 15. The show is just terrible and has violated the The Law of Conservation of Detail since than. Once this crap is over will just binge watch from that point and than move on to a good mecha anime with actual realistic teen drama, season 3 of Full Metal Panic.

It is unfortunate it ended up turning out this way 🙁
