3-gatsu no Lion 2

Animation Company: SHAFT
Website: http://3lion-anime.com/
Genre: Drama, Game, Slice of Life, Seinen
Airing Date: October 14th, 2017
Summary: The second season of 3-gatsu no Lion. *Will be 22 Episodes Long
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: Crap, I still haven’t finished the first season. D:

Vantage: I need to finish watching this. I had a look at the first episode a few months ago and was blown away by the atmosphere and visuals. Definitely try out either this or the source manga if you have the chance. Both have been critically acclaimed, and for good reason.

Berry: I watched a few episodes of the first season when it was airing before putting it on hold when I fell behind. It’s a beautiful show, a bit melancholic, and I really need to get back to it.

Nikolita: Never seen the series, pass.

MoonNyte: I have not even seen the first season so I have to pass.

A.Plus: It’s on my list, I swear!

Pandora: Never seen this show before.

Anime-Gataris

Animation Company: WAO World
Website: http://animegataris.com/
Genre: Comedy, School
Airing Date: October 8th, 2017
Summary: The anime centers on Minoa Asagaya, a new high school student in Sakaneko Private High School. Despite being a novice to anime, Minoa’s classmate Arisu Kamiigusa invites her to make an “anime research club” at school. Through conversations with her classmate Miko Kouenji, as well as various anime-loving upperclassmen, Minoa gradually gets hooked on anime. While they stand against the student council’s continuous efforts to disband their club, and they ignore the impending end of the world, they talk about anime, whether in Akiba, or in real-life “sacred place” anime settings, or the hot springs.

Eva: Meh. Not really grabbing me.

Vantage: Eh. Not leaving much of an impression on me.

Berry: It could be decent but I’ve been having less and less patience for mediocre shows.

Nikolita: Impending end of the world? xD If it wasn’t for that fragment, it’d seem like any other slice of life. I want to know how their world is ending.

MoonNyte: Their world is ending who cares right? Anime is clearly more important here lol I mean after that bit it sounds funny but I’m more curious on how their world is going to end here.

A.Plus: I’ll give this a watch. Being meta in anime seems to be an increasingly popular trend, so I’m sure there will be plenty to relate to, plenty to make fun of, and plenty of them making fun of me.

Pandora: Seems like it will be funny. I’ll check it out.

Black Clover

Animation Company: Studio Pierrot
Website: http://bclover.jp/
Genre: Action, Comedy, Fantasy, Magic, Shounen
Airing Date: October 3rd, 2017
Summary: Asta is a young boy who dreams of becoming the greatest mage in the kingdom. Only one problem – he can’t use any magic! Luckily for Asta, he receives the incredibly rare five-leaf clover grimoire that gives him the power of anti-magic. Can someone who can’t use magic really become the Wizard King? One thing’s for sure – Asta will never give up!
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: I haven’t read the manga series yet, but damn this looks good. You have my attention!

Vantage: The manga is quite popular, or so I’ve heard. I’m willing to try out a couple of episodes of this to see if it piques my interest further, but recently I’ve found myself enjoying shounen less and less.

Berry: I’m kinda in the same boat as Vantage. Shounen is fun, but I feel like the new ones that come out are kinda the same as the ones before it and it gets boring. Yeah this is the more popular manga in JUMP but…I don’t know.

Nikolita: Kiiiinda interested?

MoonNyte: I’m sorry to say I’ve never heard of it, it sounds cool! I will try out a few episodes but if SP is involved then I’m not sure about it because SP screwed Naruto by making unnecessary changes to the anime and cut stuff out from the manga and added unneeded filler instead, more so with the Boruto anime! …You can see how salty I am with SP right now but come on!

A.Plus: I have to watch this. A shounen anime essentially announcing itself as the ‘big newcomer’ deserves to be viewed. As long as it isn’t 40% filler like Naruto was. Already not a big fan of the ‘Hokage’ equivalent being called ‘Wizard King’. Sounds a bit lame, but I’ll watch it for sure.

Pandora: Not interested. For some reason, I don’t particuly like magic shows. Maybe because I watched bad ones like Mahou Senou.

Blend S

Animation Company: A-1 Pictures
Website: http://blend-s.jp/
Genre: Comedy, Seinen, Slice of Life
Airing Date: October 8th, 2017
Summary: The story centers on a girl named Maika who gets a job at a cafe where all the waitresses are given certain attributes — such as “tsundere” or “little sister” — to embody while serving customers. The manager asks Maika to be the “Do S” (extreme sadist) waitress, so she will have to adopt a dominant and aggressive persona.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: I honestly don’t know how I feel. I think I’m in the middle of the pact. This could be funny or uncomfortable. Depends on your blend I guess. I’ll see myself out.

Vantage: This looks like a lot of fun! A little unconventional for a CGDCT maybe, but I’m going to be watching this for sure!

Berry: This kind of makes me uncomfortable.

Nikolita: I feel like this could end badly.

MoonNyte: I’m with Nikolita on this, while it sounds interesting this might end bad.

A.Plus: Well, it either has a great plot and moe or… just moe. What could go wrong? It sounds watchable.

Pandora: Seems interesting. I feel like it is going to be funny.

Boku no Kanojo ga Majime Sugiru Shojo Bitch na Ken

Animation Company: diomedea
Website: http://majimesugiru-anime.jp/
Genre: Comedy, Romance, Ecchi, School
Airing Date: October 11, 2017
Summary: With nothing left to lose, ordinary high school student Haruka Shinozaki confesses to beautiful, diligent class representative Akiho Kousaka and to his surprise she accepts. Kousaka takes dating as seriously as she does everything else, but does not quite get it. She pragmatically suggests activities that are too sexual.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: Nopeeeeeee~ Absolutely NOT.

Vantage: Is this the opposite of Hajimete no Gal? Instead of a stereotype of a girl who ends up being more pure than the protagonist expects, this time we have one who is surprisingly lewd?

Berry: This definitely makes me uncomfortable.

Nikolita: Haaaa. I don’t think I’d cover this, but I might watch the first episode if only to see how twisted it is.

MoonNyte: Uhhh no thank you I’m good.

A.Plus: Eh? Because he had nothing left to lose he just winged a confession to the most popular girl? I don’t think that’s how high school works. Plus, there’s a bunch of girls cowering in… fear (I know it’s not fear, let me have this) at a banana. Hard pass.

Pandora: I agree with Nikolita, watching the first episode to see how it is. I feel like it will be a crazy comedy.

Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: At this point I lost track of the number of Cardfight Vanguard series and seasons.

Vantage: Haven’t seen the previous seasons.

Berry: They just add more single letters to their sequels, don’t they?

Nikolita: Absolutely zero in this series (in card game anime in general I think, actually).

MoonNyte: I haven’t seen the other seasons.

A.Plus: This show is still airing!?

Pandora: The show a lot people watch that I have never seen before….

Berry: Same, didn’t see the first season.

Nikolita: Didn’t see the first season either.

MoonNyte: Same here, didn’t see the first season.

A.Plus: I actually did watch the first season. No more gyoza for me, thanks.

Eva: HAND SHOOTS UP INTO AIR MINE! OMFG I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR SO LONG. Can’t say I’m a huge of fan of the adaption of the character designs, BUT I’M HERE FOR THE STORY!!!!

Vantage: I’m not that into otome game adaptations (or their source material) but this looks surprisingly interesting. Might give it a go.

Berry: Of the otome game adaptations to come out recently, this is the one that looks more interesting. The designs are cool and I love the art style. Can’t wait!

Nikolita: I await Eva’s reviews. :3

MoonNyte: Have fun Eva, I’ll be looking forward to your reviews~

A.Plus: Hmm, so Robin Hood saves Rogue from X-Men and they go to find her father. This one’s all yours, Eva. I’ll be cheering from the sidelines.

Dia Horizon

Animation Company: Square Enix
Website: http://portal.dia-horizon.jp
Genre: Fantasy
Airing Date: October 2017
Summary: We met and shared one death in two lifes – What’s beyond the end of the horizon? Death… hope… freedom… … A girl has born with the secret to the end. She… is not allowed to live freely. “Freedom” was just a word she yearns for. She lived in a closed and narrow world. Her life is chosen by someone. Therefore, she thought, if the God only gives me scenario with no freedom, I want to share the “death” with you, not that “someone”. I want to give the half of destiny to her, even if I have to share the “death” with her.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: Really hard to say, I won’t hard commit to it, but I will give this a whirl to see where it takes us.

Vantage: This makes me want to play Bravely Default again. It’s understandably beautiful given that Square Enix is involved, and I’m sure the story and characters will be great, but I don’t know how well JRPGs tend to translate over to an anime medium and that’s my main concern with this at the moment.

Berry: I don’t really know what to make of this? I feel this is better for a video game. I like the designs at least.

Nikolita: Hmmm, I’m definitely curious and want to know more.

MoonNyte: The design looks pretty but I agree with Berry on this.

A.Plus: Oh. Yeah. Everyone else is crazy, Howl’s Moving Castle mixed with Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash for art style and a mysterious but intriguing plot? Yes, please.

Pandora: Not interested, right now, but I know later I’ll see it again and be like ” I wanna watch this!”

Dies Irae

Animation Company: ACGT
Website: http://diesirae-anime.com
Genre: Action, Magic
Airing Date: October 7th, 2017
Summary: May 1, 1945. Berlin. As the Red Army raises the Soviet flag, a group of Nazi officers conduct a ritual using the slaughter in the city to bring back the LDO, supermen whose coming would bring the world’s destruction. Their success remains unknown.
Present day. Suwahara City. Ren Fujii spends his days at the hospital due to a violent fight with his best friend, Shirou. He tries to value what he has left to him, but he is haunted by Shirou’s words: “Everyone who remains in this city eventually loses their minds.” and a recurring dream of a guillotine, murderers, and the black clad knights pursuing them.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: I don’t think this one is for me.

Vantage: This is an anime adaptation of the very lengthy visual novel of the same name. I’ve heard its good, but all of that means nothing insofar as the adaptation is concerned, because even a great story can be fucked up by poor pacing, removed scenes and other unfortunate directing choices (see Grisaia no Kajitsu and Rewrite). Approach with caution.

Berry: I…don’t know? I don’t know if it’s worth my time.

Nikolita: No interest, pass.

MoonNyte: Hmmmmm…..I might give this one a go actually if no one wants too

A.Plus: Magic, action, and Nazis. It looks dark and very promising, to me at least. I’ll give it to MoonNyte but I’m definitely giving this a watch.

Pandora: Historical. I’m out.

Summary: The project follows the musical careers and personal lives of several bands under the “Dynamic Chord” agency and music label.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: I like musical animes, especially male idol anime, but this one isn’t striking me, especially with based off what I’m seeing in the PVs.

Vantage: Not for me.

Berry: They’ve really been making a lot of male idol anime and yet none of them have really caught my interest.

Nikolita: Given how much I love music I really wish I loved music anime more, but I have such a hard time getting into them. :/

MoonNyte: I’m picky with my music anime, the last male idol anime I’ve seen was Utapri but I didn’t like the direction it went, I stopped after season three. That being said, I’ll pass on this one.

A.Plus: This isn’t my style. I’ll give the first episode a watch but that’s about it. The PVs really aren’t helping.

Pandora: Eh.

As reckless as he is, Gintoki carries his own resolve and is ready to take on any challenge with his fellow companions.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: Dear lord, I am way too behind.

Vantage: I’ve never tried out Gintama, and it’d be too much of an investment for me to do so now.

Berry: The more Gintama you make, the less I’m going to continue watching where I left off.

Nikolita: I have never seen anything Gintama and don’t plan on starting now.

MoonNyte: Haven’t even started watching Gintama and now I’m going to be even more behind

A.Plus: Oh Gintama, the giant I’ll never watch.

Pandora: Me and my brother are watching Gintama from the beginning right now. Rip us. I just jump around in the series and watch the movies.

Sleeping, gaming, watching TV, eating junk food, drinking cola… that’s almost all she does at home, leaving all the housework to her brother.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: This show was a hit and miss for me.

Vantage: I did like the first season, even though (as someone with a younger sibling) UMR pissed me off a lot. Ebina-chan is best girl. Also, I’d like for Love Lab to be the next Dogakobo sequel, please.

Berry: I haven’t seen this show but all I know is that everyone hates the cola-chugging girl.

Nikolita: Kare Kano did this first, pass. It does sound cute though.

MoonNyte: Not interested and I haven’t even seen the first season.

A.Plus: Haven’t seen the first season, really don’t want to.

Pandora: Oh no. I watched the first 6 episodes of the first season and did not like it, for some reason. I guess I’ll watch the rest of the first season.

Berry: I couldn’t get into this show.

Nikolita: Haven’t seen the first season so pass, pass, paaaasssss.

Eva: Okay usually I hate CGI, everyone knows that, BUT WOW IT LOOKS REALLY GOOD HERE! :O I will definitely be checking this one out.

Vantage: We Sidonia now.

Berry: This looks really cool. I love the shiny effect they put into their hair!

Nikolita: Wait what? o_O (But the animation! I can’t decide if I like or hate its use of CG)

MoonNyte: Uh what?

A.Plus: I will watch this. The CG looks pretty bad except for the hair and some other small features, but it’s on par with Sidonia and better than Ajin. The green haired girl looks like she has a head made of mint green jelly.

They’re all looked after by Itsuki’s perfect younger step-brother, Chihiro, who has a serious secret.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: You already lost me at “works day in and day out to create the ultimate younger sister”.

Vantage: I might be wrong, but is the character designer the same one from pre-3rei Prisma Illya? And the singing in the PV sounded like ChouCho as well. Is this what Silver Link are up to these days? More of exactly the same thing they’ve been doing for years?

Berry: Eeeeehhhhhh

Nikolita: No interest.

MoonNyte: Not sure on this one, hopefully it doesn’t go in a weird way but I have a feeling it will…

A.Plus: MoonNyte… of course it’s going to go in a weird way. Also ‘sadistic tax accountant’ is redundant. I’ll probably watch this anyway, but I won’t admit it openly here for fear of scorn. I liked EroManga Sensei, just a little bit.

Nikolita: Interesting, but no thank you.

But just when it seems things couldn’t get any worse, a blinding light in the night sky strikes the earth where Ichiro stands. He later wakes up to find himself unscathed, but he soon starts to notice that there’s something…different about himself.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: OH THIS SERIES!!!! I’ve read the manga, but it’s just not for me.

Vantage: The mangaka for Inuyashiki was the same guy who did Gantz. In which case you should probably give this a go if you liked that. I remember trying the manga a long time ago, but dropped it halfway for a reason I can no longer remember. At any rate, it’s not too surprising to finally see it get an adaptation. Should be alright.

Berry: People are really hyping this up so I’m going to check it out. Don’t know what to expect.

Nikolita: Not really my thing.

MoonNyte: I’ll pass.

A.Plus: Oh! Gantz is great! The Mangaka is great! Transitive property… ACTIVATE!

Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: Well aren’t the characters sure in store for world of heartbreaks and love triangles? I’d be lying if I said I am not anticipating an emotional rollercoaster.

Vantage: Looks like it’ll be full of tears, angst and drama. The girl in the key visual is cute though, so I’ll try it for her. Just because of her. Huhah.

Berry: Hmm, it’s not impressing me.

Nikolita: Maaaaybe. I like the animation style, so it has that going for it.

MoonNyte: I want to give this one a shot, visually it looks promising and I want to see how this plays out

Airing Date: October 8th, 2017
Summary: The second season of Kekkai Sensen.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: This series has been on my backlog for a while now…

Vantage: You know, I never did finish the finale because of that two-month delay. The show in general was a sensational hit though. I think I’ll marathon it in time for the second season, this time without the Funimation hardsubs. If I make it, I might pick it up for blogging. This way, I can listen to Sugar Song & Bitter Step another 12 times without feeling like a weeb.

Berry: I just could not get into this show and I don’t want to be mean but I don’t understand why it’s popular. It was making zero sense and people that enjoyed the show admit that it didn’t make sense, so…???????

Nikolita: Vampires? No thanks

MoonNyte: Never saw the first season.

Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World – The Animated Series

Genre: Fantasy, Mystery, Psychological, Slice of Life
Airing Date: October 6th, 2017
Summary: A new TV anime for Kino no Tabi. The story follows the travels of Kino, a young adventurer who rides a talking motorcycle named Hermes. They explore the people and cultures of different places throughout their adventures, spending only three days at each location.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: I will definitely watch this one. I anticpate Vantage’s coverage.

Vantage: This is mine. All mine. I’m really worried about how this will turn out, but also really excited for more Kino. It’s always had a small but cult following, and there was quite a commotion from existing fans when this was announced out of the blue. Yuuki Aoi going from voicing Sakura in the old series to Kino in the upcoming one is rather poignant as well, for reasons I’ll go into during my posts. The one issue is that I’m not that big a fan of the new designs, though I am aware that this is what everyone looks like in the later volumes of the light novels. They all look so different, except Riku. Remember, his face makes him look like he’s always happy and smiling, but it doesn’t mean that he is. He was just born this way.

Berry: I always meant to watch the original Kino’s Journey, but I guess I can watch this instead!

Nikolita: Can’t wait to see what you think of it Vantage. 🙂

MoonNyte: Looking forward to your reviews as well Vantage~

A.Plus: I’m curious if there’s significance for only spending 3 days in a location. Looks like it’ll be a nice view if nothing else. Vantage, keep me updated.

Berry: Nope

Nikolita: Noooope.

MoonNyte: Nah…

Eva: Oh my god, you have my attention. I am quite intriguged by the plot and what we’re seeing in the PVs, not to mention the artstyle is absolutely stunning.

Vantage: This looks really interesting. Even if the story doesn’t turn out great, it might unironically be worth watching just for the pretty art style.

Berry: This has really caught my attention, it looks like a show I’d really enjoy.

Nikolita: I adore this animation. Like a newer take on the older, “traditional” style. And the story sounds really intriguing!

MoonNyte: I like how the story sounds so far! It sounds really interesting and the style is really pretty~ I’m so watching this!

Eva: Could never get into Love Live! All of my friends are obsessed over it though.

Vantage: Reminder that Yousoro is best girl. Anyone who disagrees is wrong. This is Berry’s, but I’ll be watching it closely (and collecting the free in-game loveca that we’ll no doubt be getting to celebrate the anime).

Berry: Uh, no offense, but Riko is best girl? I love how she’s the only one not smiling in the promo art, I love her. :’) Anyway since I covered the first season this is automatically mine. Please let there be improvements! Also hurray for free love gems in the game!

Nikolita: Never been a fan of this series.

MoonNyte: Never caught my interest the first time.

A.Plus: I couldn’t stand the original series, so I never got into this. You know it’s bad when a fan of the show told me that I could just skip the first season of the original show because nothing really happened.

Pandora: Nah…. never got into this… the memes though.

Just when all hope seems lost, a fateful encounter awaits her. When a man with the head of a beast, wielding strange powers, obtains her through a slave auction, Chise’s life will never be the same again.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2 | PV 3

Team Impression

Eva: This is the hype of the season, for a good reason.

Vantage: Given how highly acclaimed the manga is, I’m not surprised this has gotten a full-length TV series after Wit Studio tested the waters with their three-part OVA not too long ago. This will definitely be one of the season’s mainstream attractions.

Berry: I heard how good this is, it sounds good, looks good, and I want it.

Nikolita: I don’t know if I’d cover this, but I think I’ll give it a watch for the first couple of episodes. It definitely seems like something special, though in what way remains to be seen.

MoonNyte: This looks and sounds good!

A.Plus: Oh, man. I just finished pt 3 of the OVAs. There’s so much I want to know about the world and how she got to be the magus’s bride. Hyped.

Eva: I like it’s actually a female protagonist in this role for once, and it looks incredibly cute! Will watch!

Vantage: Sort of like Netoge then, except without any school setting. Could be cute, I might give it a go.

Berry: This actually sounds pretty cute, I’ll check it out.

Nikolita: Seems like a predictable SAO to me. No thanks. (Am I too jaded? ^^;; )

MoonNyte: I’ll watch this, it sounds interesting!

A.Plus: Ok. Sure, I guess. It’s cool that it’s a female NEET. That’s a zaney and unexpected twist. Probably the only one though.

Berry: I really enjoyed this show so I’m happy for another season. What I don’t understand is why this show is so popular with females across the world, so much, that they literally want to fuck these guys. They want to fuck them. I…don’t get it.

Nikolita: After reading Hideki’s reviews of the first season, all I can say is HELL NO.

Eva: SEES HORROR [FLEES]

Vantage: Makes me think of Kami-sama no Iutoori for some reason. Other than that, I’m not familiar with this at all, but from the PV my initial thoughts are that it’s got lots of gore for gore’s own sake. A bit like Corpse Party, I suppose.

Berry: I feel like a dumbass signing up for this but I can’t say no to horror/mystery shows and Mamoru Miyano as the lead. But ever since the trainwreck that was Mayoiga, I’m a little cautious for another horror anime with a large cast. shudder

Nikolita: The first preview has a weirdly upbeat song for what looks like a really fucked up title.

MoonNyte: No thanks I’ll pass

A.Plus: Cool. Always down for a ‘horror’ anime. Which just means gorey, because anime is generally a failure when it comes to horror. Excited nonetheless.

Pandora: Nah, but it reminds of My Mental Choices are Messing with My High School Life, but less funny. Maybe that Future Diary feel.

Eva: Made me think of Robotics;Notes, and I do love robots. You know I’ll check this out, but the fact it has “The Animated Series” scares me a bit – no adaption ends well with that in its title.

Vantage: Looks like a budget version of Robotics;Notes (which wasn’t all that great anyway). Not really interested.

Berry: I don’t know how entertaining little robots beating the shit out of each other with little pellets will be for me. :/

Nikolita: Mini-mecha? Pass like usual.

MoonNyte: Pass

A.Plus: Mecha isn’t my favorite genre. I’ve watched BattleBots though, a strange tournament style show where people (real people) build robots to fight. So, I guess anime would just make that better, right?

Berry: Sengoku, wow amazing. Mm.

Nikolita: I might take a look at this, but I don’t think I’ll cover it. Historical titles are not usually something I’m interested in.

Day after hopeless day, they look for their next meal and fuel for their ride. But as long as the two are together, even an existence as bleak as theirs has a ray or two of sunshine in it, whether they’re sucking down their fill of soup or hunting for machine parts to tinker with. For two girls in a world full of nothing, the experiences and feelings the two share give them something to live for…
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: Made in Abyss definitely reminded to never judge a book by it’s cover.

Vantage: If Made in Abyss has taught me anything, it’s that hidden under a simplistic set of character designs could be an intriguing story with great world-building. This feels like a loli version of Cormac McCarthy’s The Road, and if it’s anything like that then it will be fantastic. I’d like to blog it, but I don’t want to count my lolis before they hatch.

Berry: Like Vantage said, Made in Abyss impressed me beyond belief even with its childish designs so I’m very open to trying this show. It seems so sad.

Nikolita: This actually sounds super interesting to me, and something with a slower pace (which is great when done correctly). I don’t want to take on too many shows this season but if no one else wants it, I might reorganize my options to pick this one up.

MoonNyte: I’ll check this out, this looks promising and really sad so I want to see how they survive and make it through

A.Plus: I’m excited for this because it’s an anime. Could you imagine that in real life though? God, I can barely manage maintaining friendships after a few hours of interacting and that’s with TV. All those girls have is soup and metal scraps.

Vantage: Nah. I liked what they did with Jupiter in the original iDOLM@STER anime, but only because they were a foil to 765 Pro. I don’t think I’d watch something like this where the idol scene is entirely a sausage fest.

Berry: It’s cool that IM@S made a male spinoff, I think it’d be pretty cool if Love Live did the same (unpopular opinion probably). This series is a mega hit and I’ve always been curious about it, so maybe?

Vantage: What a strange project to undertake for an anniversary. Given their standard fare, you’d think Silver Link would create an original harem comedy series featuring lolis, imoutos and childhood friends. I’ll watch this though, it looks hilarious.

Berry: Could this be a serious female sports anime? Yeah? Please?

Genre: Drama, Music, Slice of Life
Airing Date: October 10th, 2017
Summary: The new anime will feature the previous Wake Up, Girls! group members, but it will also add new characters.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: I covered the first series up to episode 9 and watched the rest (it was okay). So let me just put up a quick notice for those who are now considering watching the first season: Wake Up, Girls’ original series was not a happy-go-lucky Idol Drama. It sheds light on the darker and twisted realities of the music industry. So it would be nice if this series was more light-hearted though, but I expect its share of serious angst. I will probably watch this one as well, but I don’t think I will cover it.

Vantage: Haven’t seen the first season. Heard it was really realistic for an idol show (i.e. it was suffering) which is commendable if nothing else.

Berry: Yes, this show was very realistic and there was a bit of suffering, which I loved because the idol industry isn’t all cuteness and happiness. I remember liking the show a lot so I’m happy to see more. WUG has some popularity and I’d really like to get into them more!

Nikolita: No idols for me thanks.

MoonNyte: Did not see the first season, again i’m picky with my music anime!

A.Plus: Didn’t know it existed, have no intention of watching it. Seriously with the music shows, guys. At least this one is more dramatic. Although, we did have a dramatic music/romance show a few seasons ago anyway. Not for me.

Pandora: I liked the first few episodes of Wake Up Girls. Should finish the show.

Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: Oh man this series absolutely destroyed me. This is definitely one of the “darker” magical girl series done right. Well deserved a sequel, I hope it’s as good as the first season!

Vantage: Wow. A sequel to YuYuYu? I need to finish watching the first season, but I’m aware that it’s one of those neo-magical girl series featuring angst and suffering for all involved.

Berry: I fucking love this show so I’m so happy to see the rest of the story, which in this case is a prequel to the first season. I’m so excited! More suffering and sadness. :’)

Nikolita: Didn’t see the first season, so pass again.

MoonNyte: Didn’t see first season either so it’s a pass for me too

A.Plus: I binged the first season to be able to watch this. It wasn’t great, but it certainly wasn’t bad. For me, it was very comparable to Madoka Magica wherein I thought this show had slightly better, more likeable characters but lacked a depth that Madoka implemented very well.

Eva: Oh boy…

Vantage: I might actually give this a go.

Berry: Cute that they’re a married couple, we don’t see that enough in anime. But I feel like I’m going to hate the wife.

Nikolita: Watch an anime about a young woman getting stupid drunk? No thanks I have RL friends like this I can hang out with instead.

MoonNyte: I like anime shorts about a married couple and we get to see the wife become drunk and stupid? I mean its short so why not?

A.Plus: I’m actually very interested in this. I like husband-wife shorts especially when the dynamic is good. Hopefully, it is.

Pandora: Nope.

Team Impression

Eva: Nope again.

Vantage: Nope.

Berry: Boy’s love. Um, excuse me but isn’t the boy in green a baby? He looks like a baby.

Nikolita: I’m with Pandora, historical is an automatic pass from me. Even without that baby-like boy being the apparent object of the adult man’s desires.

MoonNyte: Boy’s love? Alright that’s fine and all, but if the dude hits on that baby looking boy then I’m out.

A.Plus: So imagine this, generic anime producer. Black Butler, make Ciel EVEN YOUNGER, then make Sebastian a student with a sword instead of a demon. Oh, and the whole thing is a romance.’

Pandora: Historical, I’m out.

Overall Thoughts

Eva: Wow Fall is definitely packing a punch! Makes up for the lacklustre summer, but more importantly: finally, FINALLY LOTS OF ROMANCE TITLES. Oh my god, I have been craving for new romances, and this season is full of it! I hope most of them turn out good ahahah SOBS. There is also astonishingly a TON of Male Idol shows, I am quite curious to see how each of them will compare to each other, so now I have a reason to watch them all. For my potiential picks of the season: Code:Realize is a given, all I hope is that they do the characters and story justice because that is in fact the series’ strength. That pretty much leaves The iDOLM@STER SideM, Kujira no Kora wa Sajou ni UtauSengoku Night Blood and maybe Robomasters, to choose from. I don’t know how many titles I will pick up this season since it will depend on how busy my hetic is and my health condition. For my watch list, I am curious about Black Clover, Dia Horizon, Houseki no Kuni, Itsudatte Bokura no Koi wa 10cm datta, Just Because!, Kino no Tabi, Mahoutsukai no Yome, Netojuu no Susume and Two Car.

Vantage: I’m basically only here for Kino. I know I can finish it, because I think far too highly of it to do otherwise, but other than that I don’t see myself doing much blogging. Maybe Kekkai Sensen or Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou if no-one else is interested, as it’d be a waste if neither of those got any coverage. As for the shows I’ll be watching, I think Blend S and Konohana Kitan will do just fine for my CGDCT fix. Mahoutsukai no Yome will be a heavy hitter for sure, as will Kujisuna, Love Live Sunshine and maybe Shokugeki if it gets far enough. Dia Horizon and Dies Irae have a lot of potential as well. I do wonder, however, whether much of the anticipation is down to interest being drummed up from sequels with established fanbases, and not so much the new stuff. Overall, it’s still a strong season (sequels aren’t any less shows than new ones are), especially in comparison to summer, but I’m preparing to retire (if not already half-retired) and so I’ll be leaving the heavy lifting to our newer members. From me it’ll be Kino this season, Violet Evergarden in Winter 2018 and then I’ll be gone.

Berry: Thankfully Fall is looking far better than Summer. I’m mostly looking forward to the two sequels of my interest, Love Live Sunshine and Yuuki Yuuna, but also looking forward to Mahoutsukai no Yome. I’m a little iffy with Ousama but I’m willing to give it a try. There’s a lot more shows that are catching my interest so hopefully I’ll watch they’ll keep my attention, as I’ve been a little…jaded, with anime lately. Haven’t been keeping up with many shows and dropping a lot, so I’d like to have shows that don’t disappoint me. Either way, I really am looking forward to this season, mostly for my idol girls and sad magical girls.

Nikolita: I’m a little frustrated with myself for limiting myself to only 2 shows during the fall, but if there’s anything that this past season has taught me it’s that my work schedules suck and I have little free time (so sorry for all my late reviews! >_<;; ). So, no more than 2 is best. Otherwise I’d totally take on Dia Horizon and Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokoubut I guess I’ll just be watching those instead of blogging them. Fall season looks like a lot of idol/music shows and some historical stuff, which I have no interest in, but overall I am eagerly awaiting this season than I was the summer.

MoonNyte: This Fall for sure has more promise than last season, this looks like the season for Action, Fantasy, Romance and Idols. I’m for sure looking forward to Shokugeki no Soma‘s third season, I missed my food porn as well as watching Kino no Tabi and Netojuu no Susume!. Just Because!, I don’t know but something about it caught my attention, I have a good feeling about it! As for Dies Irae so far it sounds good and looks promising so I’m looking forward on how it plays out, hopefully it won’t be too bloody cause I’m squeamish and if it is I’ll just do what I always do which is cover my eyes and slowly peek through my fingers and enjoy the show! I’ve never heard of Mahoutsukai no Yome  and Sengoku Night Blood (Didn’t even know it was an otome game!) but I like what I see! Also while I’m excited that Two Car is a female sport anime I’m not sure if it’ll be serious or not, I hope its serious but we will see! I have hopes for the other shows that caught my attention as well so I hope they don’t disappoint! Fingers crossed! I’m excited for what’s in store this season!

A.Plus: From what I can see, next season looks very promising. At least it seems like it’ll be better than this season. Although, I said the same thing 2 seasons ago. I’m hard to please. I’m a huge fan of action, fantasy series so my top 2 shows, and shows that I’ll hopefully be writing about, are Dia Horizon and Infini-T Force, but everyone needs a little comedy in their life so I also plan to cover Osake wa Fuufu ni Natte Kara.  Dia Horizon just looks like something I need in my life. Purely based on aesthetics so far, but sometimes that’s enough. Inifini-T Force, I expect will just be a great superhero show to satisfy my caveman needs of seeing people get punched. Osake, In my fantasies, I hope to be similar to I Can’t Understand What My Husband Is Saying. A few other comedies and romances piqued my interest too, but those are so hit and miss I won’t know until I see them. I’m keeping my eye on Just Because! though. Oh and, of course, some of my precious sequels are coming. Food Wars, Kekkai Sensen, Yuuki Yuuna (which I binged two days ago), March Comes in Like A Lion (which I’ll binge very soon), and Mahoutsukai no Yome (not really a sequel, but the OVAs were amazing). High hopes in general. Very high hopes. Don’t fail me anime industry. Not again.

Pandora: This season seems packed with lots of interesting shows unlike last season. I only watched 3 shows last season, and this season I’ll be watching more than 5. Two Car really caught my eye and it seems interesting. I usually hate anime that have anything to do with sports, but I’ll give that one a try. I also like music, and I’ll watch those too. I am also espically excited for Omiai Aite wa Oshiego, Tsuyoki na, Mondaiji because I like weird love stories, teacher x student relationships, they get crazy and funny. They have to hide the relationship and some guy always figures out and they to bribe them or make them forget.. I picked Ani-Gataris because I always wanted to start an anime club at my school and I think the show will be funny. I picked BokuBitch because I thought it would be a weird and funny combination like I me strawberry eggs. I picked Frankstein Family because I thought it was going to have a sense of cruelty, but somehow it would be funny at the same. And everyone wants to know if he changes them back to normal.

I’m really excited for 3-gatsu no Lion and Kino’s Journey. I never read the novels before, so when I heard that it was getting a remake, it really made me interested, so I’m reading translations of the novel. I gotta say, the story is really nice, though it made me think of a few things about Kino (not spoilers per se, but thought provoking questions). Is Kino a good person? Does Kino care about her life? (she seems kind of apathetic) Is Kino broken?

Also, for 3-gatsu no Lion, I just wanna say, if you haven’t watched the first season, you should have a look at it. The characters are really nice, and the story is great, highlighting Rei’s journey as he matures through Shogi. It’s for all those introverts out there! (Same with Tsuki Ga Kirei, who here has watched it?) I mean, if you haven’t watched it, give it at least the first 5 episodes. It really shows why he’s the person he is today.

For the record. Don’t watch Negima, without fail all the adaptations have been trash one way or another. The manga is the best way to go for this one. Most of the fans are hoping that this adaption will fix the ‘all adaptations are trash’ bit, but… UQ Holder is a totally different kind of series than Negima. But we’ll see.

Other than that, I am hype as fuck for Kekkai Sensen, Shokugeki no Soma, and Inyuashiki (along with the airing VRAINS). Hopefully they turn out good!

Finally, the seasonal preview is here again, i had fun checking out your opinion guys about the fall anime. As for me, gonna watch Food Wars, Inuyashiki and Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou. Wanna watch Yuuki Yuuna, Kekkai Sensen but haven’t been round to seeing the first season. Also, why is Taishou Chicchai-san green-lit, my god the design looks practically like a baby. I like my bl shows but I do have my limits.

Long time no see here, and as for this time sorry if I can’t comment much in regard of the anime here. But at least I could try here.

As for Dies Irae, I think it’s still possible if one want to adapt the anime and I say this because in fact the anime there could count a lot of the time to hasten the pace. In regard of VN, actually it’s more like the writer himself (Masada) was more like writing pretty long winded explanation in regard of either simple events or battle which could bore some people who read that. Ironically, it’s also his strength actually because from there he could write some of his character description more detail as opposed to average VN. Well, for now I would say to just wait and see here. For more info here, Dies Irae anime was funded through Japanese crowfunding.

For Shokugeki, well I did read the manga and it’s quite good. Although if I must said right now it was kind of having some arc fatigue though in regard of Central arc, and I also like to question of why Elite 10 was interested to joining Azami even though he was obviously evil because usually there’s a reason that the characters were interested to the dark side. And yet there’s still none of that so far, although hopefully it would be explained after Azami was defeated. For now, I would like to think that he mangaka just want to make Elite 10 as sort of Quirky Miniboss Squad for Azami himself. Back to adaptation, what I could comment is that too bad that Taneda still in need of recovery after her throat was healed – she was already announced that she was back though, so she couldn’t voiced Erina in season 3. Which is a shame because I would happy to hear that Erina voice goes like Ayaya at Chapter 151 adaptation.

Since I talk about seiyuu and there’s Love Live, might as well answer Vantage in regard of Nanjou Yoshino here – I knew that this is one year late lol. As for Nanjou, yes she had some role in eroge in which it’s obviously porn game (By the way, if Eva didn’t allow porn here feel free to edit this). And if Vantage here need some ‘research’ material, then I could suggest you to play Dracu Riot Azusa route, My Girlfriend is the President Ouhama Yukino’s route, and Da Capo 2 Koko’s route – just search those in VNDB if you want more info. All of those heroines there was voiced by Nanjou for the information.

For the last word from me here, I hope that Eva will come back to reviewed Precure weekly because I saw a message that one of Live Journal user there was like your review the most – I knew though that you had hiatus because of your health problem for this year. Here’s the message if you want to know:

‘Well if Eva from AngryAnimeBitches Blog had reviewed this season (ie Kira Kira Pretty Cure A La Mode) she would be most looked forward to, no doubt’

It’s still depend on you though whether you want to come back or not nnect year, but there you go.

I think that’s all that I could say for now, and let me see nice to meet the new members there.

    1. Eva

Hey LittleShogun! Hope you’ve been well! 😀
I am bummed out that I missed out on Kira Kira Pretty Cure A La Mode, everyone keeps telling me I would’ve loved it. SOBS And I haven’t had the chance to even watch it yet, but I keep seeing wonderful GIFS of it all over the place.

I’ll have to see how my schedule is for the winter, if it all works out I’ll be sure to take a look at the new precure series for sure.

  6. Well to me the big ones I’m most hyped about are Kekkai Sensen season 2, The Ancient Magus Bride and Houseki no Kuni. The rest while certainly not bad, did not really grab me much.

I noticed that this preview completely skipped over Juuni Taisen and I’m kinda curious why is that, (This is not meant to be a negative criticism, I’m just curious) because I was lowkey looking forward to your thoughts on it.

    1. Eva

It looks like we missed that one. At the time we were putting the preview together, it wasn’t up on the anime seasonal charts. I’ll try to have the team update as soon as we can, its detail has been added to the preview. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. And I apologize I wasn’t able to address this sooner.
