MAKE IT STOP. MAKE THE NARRATOR STOP. THE GOD DAMN NARRATION IS SPOILING EVERYTHING.

First off, apologizes for the delay, I had a nasty migraine all weekend – this summer has been quite brutal in terms of the instability in the forecast. And thank god I stayed in bed and slept, because had I gotten up to watch this – I don’t think this entry would even exist, not after this episode.

I have finally pinpointed what was throwing my motivation of the window. It’s the narrator.
I… I can’t even fathom why? Why?! WHY IN THE WORLD, WOULD YOU HAVE A NARRATOR SPOIL EVERYTHING?! It is so infuriating, it pisses me off. Is it so hard to just NOT SPOIL WHAT IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN? Why does this narrator even exist in the script, no. Just. Stop it. Go away. You’re not helping. The narrator is not contributing anything to this series, in fact it’s ruining it.

The events that took place this episode could have been a lot more exciting had the narrator hadn’t SPOILED IT. Take away the narrator and what do you get out of it? This magical thing called Suspense. This is a mystical ingredient that this show is missing! And you know what, without it, where is your hook? How are you going to reel people back in for more? At this point, the only reason anyone would watch this show is not for the story, (because to hell with that when they just outright tell you what’s about to unfold), the characters are pretty flat so there’s not much depth, so we are really here just to watch a boy be passionate about building robots – and that’s fine and all, but this show could be even more fun, and a lot better without the narrator, period.

We got a name for the villains who are out and about attempting to trigger a war. Why they want one, we don’t know yet, but according to the narrator, it’s going to be a part of a world-shaking event.
Wow, that makes me sooooooo excited in what’s to come! /s

Then we had the situation with the Marquis. Truth to be told I wasn’t sure what to make out of it considering he clearly intended to steal Ernesti’s blueprints/knowledge and pass it onto the Kingdom to reap the rewards. However what threw him off was the fact Ernesti doesn’t care about rewards or recognition. The only thing he cares about is his hobby of building robots, and obtaining the vital information in regards of the Ether Reactor. It was fun to see Marquis being completely overwhelmed by this to the extent he outright revealed in intentions, he just couldn’t process the idea of someone not being interested in glory. But it appears after having an honest conversation, he saw a reflection of his younger self in Ernesti’s passionate soul. In fact despite the dark politics simmering around them, I find myself wanting to see the two of them work together, and potentially bond while building the new Silhouette Knight.

And finally, I also don’t understand why they made us have to sit through listening to Ady whine the whole damn time. I’m glad one of the characters actually called her out on her whiny behavior, but at the same time – I wished her character wasn’t an increasingly annoying one to begin with.

I simply cannot cover a show that flat out tells you everything that is about the god damn happen. It just doesn’t work for me. It is truly a shame because this show does have its charms, and Ernesti’s character being so honest and passionate is really the only thing that is keeping me around. Heck, I am not even sure if I will continue watching this to be honest, that’s how much the narration alone is turning me off…

Well that’s all I got to say. It was nice knowing you Knight’s and Magic.

  1. I agree :/ I mean I’m LOVING the show since it’s so much fun, but the narrator is totally unnecessary. She pulls me out of my immersion every time she starts talking, and her commentary is useless. >_>

Judging from the “world-shattering (war) event” quote, I think the anime intends to cover the 1st 5 LN volumes. Said event occurs in Vols 4-5, and Ernesti’s various improvements will see practical use there.
Vols 6-7 (the latest) can’t be adapted because it’s part of a new ongoing arc (not related to Vols 4-5).
The general briskness of the series suggests 1 cour, despite no official episode count released. Perhaps that’s why the staff are using a narrator to push in the extraneous info due to briskness, though I can’t speak on their behalf.
Since you have 1 free viewing slot open now, what will you cover in its place? Perhaps Isekai Shokudou? Princess Principal? Or even Stan Lee’s The Reflection?

I have been weighing my options. Since last week, I’ve been craving to marathon some shows, and I did just that with Shingeki no Bahamut: Virgin Soul – and I’m absolutely obsessed with it. I seriously considered picking it up and doing a binge-coverage of it, but then I realized it will be too difficult for me to catch up with it on my own since it’s already 15 episodes in, finishes at 24. So if I wanted to catch up ASAP, it would require pumping out… 4 Entries/Week to finally catch up by Ep 20-21 (Estimate: 5 Weeks Effort). Unfortunately I can’t write this much because of my condition, so I will likely end up doing a Random Review on it as soon as it ends. The same could be said about Precure, but there’s definitely more time for me to catch up without pressing myself too hard in the process – but I haven’t watched this season yet, so I can’t make any promises at this time.
Princess Principal is being covered by Berry
Haven’t watched Isekai Shokudou yet though, been planning to check it out. I’ll try to do so before the end of the week.
Took a look at the Reflection, unfortunately it doesn’t appeal to me. Cool collaboration though.
I do however have Otome Games reviews I have been working on the side for some time now, and I would really like to get those out ASAP. So if I don’t find something else to pick up, I’ll be able to put more time into those projects.

Don’t bother with precure. The motif turned me off and somehow… I just don’t like the personality of the characters….
Unless you like cure flower and cure marine from heartcatch… that is.
I love precure… but I ended up skipping this season and mahou tsukai.
