Eva: Nothing about this draw me in, but the music is good.

Vantage: Eh. Not really interested.

Berry: This looks like it’s going to be really trippy. I’m pretty interested in this, even though I have no idea what it’s going to be about. I won’t promise I’ll blog this but I’ll at least check it out.

Nikolita: Looks… psychological? I dunno. Either way, not enough information to decide.

Charibo:  I don’t know what to say… No thanks?

The heroine shows vying for popularity began to appear on a nationally popular ranking program broadcast nationwide. The action heroines aspire to earn the love of everyone from children to adults.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: It’s cute and all, but I’m just not interested.

Vantage: So like a nationwide idol contest, except featuring action heroines instead?

Berry: Not for me.

Nikolita: Cute and definitely a somewhat unique idea, but not my thing.

Charibo: It is clearly not an anime made for me.

It’s Fujita’s first step into the high-octane world of competitive dance!
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2 | PV 3 | PV 4 | PV 5

Team Impression

Eva: If you haven’t read the manga, stop what you are doing and start reading this series immediately. THIS IS THE HYPE OF THE SEASON. I also can’t tell you how relieved I am that it’s Production I.G who are producing this (I mean I knew it would have to be them, but still, they definitely have the best reputation for adapting sport series!). This series is in good hands. IT IS ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR. PREPARED TO BE BLOWN AWAY~

Vantage: I’m aware that the manga has been met with critical acclaim, but it’s not something I can say I’m familiar with. This anime will be a good opportunity to change that.

Berry: This looks amazing and I’m excited for this. I’ve seen the hype and I believe I’ll enjoy this a lot.

Nikolita: I will eagerly await Eva and Charibo’s reviews of this show. :3

Charibo: I second Eva here: THE MANGA IS AMAZING! I don’t know how to put in words my excitement! However, I think Studio I.G cannot match the manga’s art style since it’s so freaking amazing but from what I saw from the preview and know from Studio I.G I think they will make a good job.

Battle Girl High School

Website: http://colopl.co.jp/battlegirl-hs/index
Genre:  Action, Sci-Fi

Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2 |

Team Impression

Eva: Is it bad that when I first saw this, I thought, “Idolm@ster?”

Vantage: Reminds me of Xenoglossia. Which wasn’t all that great. I feel like I’d be more interested if there weren’t so many characters.

Berry: This is literally the Idolm@ster girls but with weapons. So…no.

Nikolita: Same old, pass.

Centaur no Nayami

Animation Company: Emon Animation Company
Website: http://centaur-anime.com/
Genre: Comedy, Slice of Life, Supernatural, Fantasy
Airing Date: July 9th, 2017
Summary: Himeno is a sweet, shy girl, who struggles with the high school life. The difference is she’s a centaur; but she’s not alone. In fact, all of her classmates are supernatural creatures, sporting horns, wings, tails, halos, or some other unearthly body appendage. Yet despite their fantastical natures, Himeno and her best friends are down-to-earth, fun-loving teenagers who grapple with issues of life and love.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2 | PV 3

Team Impression

Eva: Looks like a really cute series, but I’ll save it for a time to marathon it.

Vantage: T H I C C I’ve never even heard of Emon Animation. Whether this will end up being a poor man’s Demi-chan is anyone’s guess (although the fact that it’s… well, not A-1 Pictures isn’t helping) but I’m willing to give it an episode or two.

Berry: I don’t know how but I KNOW they’re going to find a way to sexualize that fucking centaur. Mark my words. I can already see the people calling her “thicc”. Anime was a mistake.

Nikolita: So kind of like Demi-chan wa Kataritai but with more mythological creatures. It sounds like something I’d like, but there’s something about the centaur that just freaks me out for some reason.

Charibo: Reminds me of the infamous “Uma no Prince Sama” game but without the horse ikemen and with a girl.

Clione no Akari

Animation Company: Ishikawa Pro
Website: http://clionenoakari.com/
Genre: N/A
Airing Date: July 12th, 2017
Summary: The story centers around an illness-stricken, constantly bullied orphan girl named Minori. After one rainy day, she doesn’t turn up at school, having been admitted into a hospital in a distant town. Two months pass, and the girl’s two school friends, Takashi and Kyōko, receive a mysterious email with no sender listed. The email reveals a summer festival taking place at a nearby town.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: No thanks, pass.

Vantage: The synopsis interests me, but the dated visuals really aren’t encouraging at all. It looks like it’d fit right into something from the start of last decade, complete with a 4:3 aspect ratio.

Berry: It could potentially be interesting but I’m not so sure.

Nikolita: Hmmm… I’m intrigued.

Charibo: Art style is strange, summary is strange, looks like the type of show I’ll wait before watching. If I hear good things about it, I’ll check it out.

Dive!!

Animation Company: Zero-G
Website: http://www.dive-anime.com/
Genre: Comedy, Sports
Airing Date: July 7th, 2017
Summary: The series revolves around the Mizuki Diving Club (MDC), which is on the verge of closing down after having financial troubles. The club’s new coach persuades the club’s parent company to stay open on one condition: that the club sends one of its members to next year’s olympics as part of Japan’s olympic team.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: The fact it’s about diving certainly catches my attention, but I have not interest in covering it.

Vantage: I did love Free. And I think this has generated some hype recently, so I’ll try it out at the very least.

Berry: Sports anime is an automatic yes. I’m…still waiting for a good female sports anime though. :)))))))))

Nikolita: Sports anime, pass.

Charibo: You know what? Usually I would fall for this kind of trick right away. BUT NOT THIS TIME! I WON’T FALL INTO THAT TRAP AGAIN! Enough of the generic sport x bishounen anime. I want a real plot this time and if you can not give me a real plot, at least give me some real sports sequences. So I let you the benefit of the doubt and put my name into “Possible Bloggers” but I might just do a quick look on this one :/

Genre: Romance, Supernatural
Airing Date: July 1st, 2017

Even when that human is reborn, the previous memories of his past life is erased from his memory. However, it is said among Spirits that a certain “service” is spreading. This “service” is provided by the “Fox Spirit Matchmakers” who can revive the lost memories of their former lover. When the Spirits lose their lover, they can purchase the “service” of the “Fox Spirit Matchmakers” so that they could attempt to regain their former lover memories and start over a new love story. This story follows a young Fox Spirit Matchmaker who tries her best to restore lost memories and spread love.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2 | PV 3

Team Impression

Eva: So this is actually based off a Chinese Webmanga! The premise catches my attention so I will have to at least do a Quick Look.

Vantage: This both looks and sounds exactly like the kind of adaptation produced from a Chinese web publication. I heard The King’s Avatar was pretty good, but animated productions of Chinese webnovels have generally never interested me.

Berry: This sounds like it could be a sad but sweet show, but the PV makes it out to solely be a comedy. Still, it’s caught my interest.

Nikolita: Not touching this for reasons I’m not going into. Pass.

Charibo: I dunno what to say, I have no inspiration for this one…. which means I probably shouldn’t cover it.

Fate/Apocrypha

Summary: There was once a Holy Grail War waged by Mages and Heroic Spirits in a town of Fuyuki. However, one Mage took advantage of the chaos of World War II to steal a Holy Grail. Furious, the Association sent forces to deal with the Yggdmillennia, but were defeated. With the Holy Grail system changed, war at an unprecedented scale breaks out.

Eva: What’s this?! A-1 Pictures managed to snag a fate series? Shocking to say the least, but before everyone freaks out (I’m already seeing panic) let’s give them a chance first. The animation in trailer isn’t shabby to say the least. Needless to say, we got a lot of fate series coming out way in the future and they aren’t being produced by Ufotable. (EG: Fate/Extra Last Encore being animated by SHAFT, which doesn’t surprise me because they animated the opening video for the game.)

Vantage: It’s been a while since I’ve had anything to do with the Fate franchise. So I feel rather out-of-date, and whilst I’m happy to watch this I’m not really up for blogging it.

Berry: Well I saw Unlimited Blade Works, which I thought was fine. I loved Fate/Zero more. I’m still new to the Fate series but this could be just as good.

Nikolita: Not a fan of the Fate series, pass.

Charibo: I just saw Fate/Zero… does this series have Diarmuid as Lancer? I THINK NOT.

Gamers!

Animation Company: PINE JAM
Website: http://www.gamers-anime.com
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Ecchi, Romance, Slice of Life
Airing Date: July 13, 2017
Summary: Centering on the gaming lives of various high school students who play video games, including: Keita Amano, a lonely young man who loves video games; Karen Tendou, the beautiful president of the video game club; Chiaki Hoshinomori, who constantly fights with Keita; and Tasuku Uehara, who puts on a facade of being satisfied with his life in the real world, but he in truth loves video games.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: More like something I’d marathon at a later date out of boredom.

Vantage: Cute. Production values don’t look particularly stunning, and I’m getting Saekano vibes for some reason. Also Seiren (@Nikolita) though surely this show will have more meaningful and productive a story than that did. R-right?

Berry: It’s ecchi so no.

Nikolita: Sounds kinda like the second relationship in Seiren, eh Vantage? ;D

Charibo: Did I just see “Ecchi” in the tags? Yep, I pass.

Hajimete no Gal

Animation Company: NAZ
Website: http://hajimete-no-gal.jp
Genre: Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy, Romance
Airing Date: June 25, 2017
Summary: The romantic comedy begins with Junichi “Jun” Hashiba, an uncool high school student who frets about wanting to lose his virginity. Egged on by his friends, Jun goes on his knees and confesses his love to a classmate named Yukana Yame. The confession surprisingly works and the couple goes out. However, Jun finds himself in uncharted waters with Yame, a trendy and fashion-conscious “gal” (gyaru).
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: No, n’uff said.

Vantage: I loved Galko-chan. It was lewd and all, but shows like this demonstrate that it’s had a surprisingly major trend-setting impact. We’re going to see lots of anime focusing on gyarus in the next few years.

Berry: Okay so if you can’t properly button up your shirt because your boobs are too big, you need to buy a bigger shirt. :| Also, no thanks.

Nikolita: Noooo thank you. Although I’m curious to see how it will explore the gyaru subculture.

Charibo: No, not today ♬♪

Hina Logi: From Luck & Logic

Animation Company: Doga Kobo
Website: http://luckandlogic-animation.com
Genre: Action, Fantasy
Airing Date: July 1, 2017
Summary: The main series centers on Liones Yelistratova, the naive princess of a small nation, who goes to Hokkaido to enter ALCA, an educational institution dedicated to teaching Logicalists who uphold world peace. Liones enters Class S, and encounters many unique classmates, including Logicalist Nina Alexandrovena.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: Just to clarify: This is not a sequel to Luck and Logic, but is a related show since it’s based on the same card game. On that note, I remember watching the first episode of Luck and Logic, but then forgot about it – as for this one, not really grabbing my attention either.

Vantage: Dogakobo is one of my favourite studios.

Berry: The blonde girl’s design is adorable but nah.

Nikolita: No interest, pass.

Charibo: No

Hitorijime My Hero

Animation Company: Encourage Films
Website: http://hitorijime-myhero.com
Genre: Shounen Ai, Slice of Life, School
Airing Date: July 8, 2017
Summary: Story involving Kensuke’s brother, Kousuke Ooshiba and friend, Masahiro Setagawa from ‘Hitorijime Boyfriend.’
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: Not my cup of tea, but if it’s a sweet one might check it out at later date.

Vantage: Nah.

Berry: I’ve never heard of this so no.

Nikolita: Not a huge shounen ai fan, unfortunately. Might take a peek for my own interest later.

Charibo: I don’t really like romance… But if it’s a non-abusive homosexual relationship without cliches, I might check it out… later…

Isekai Shokudou

Animation Company: SILVER LINK
Website: http://isekai-shokudo.com
Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Mystery
Airing Date: July 4, 2017
Summary: The story centers on a restaurant called “Youshoku no Nekoya” (Western Cuisine Cat Restaurant), which is located on the first basement floor of a building at a corner of a shopping district near an office area. While it normally feeds salarymen, there is a secret in Nekoya. Every Saturday when the shop takes a day off, Nekoya is teeming full of “special customers.” For the office workers, it is a familiar place with familiar dishes, but for these Saturday customers — “people from that world” — it is full of never before seen cuisine.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: This looks like it could be a fun watch.

Vantage: Is this a cross between Bartender and Carnival Phantasm? It’s not exactly standard Silver Link fare, but it looks harmless enough.

Berry: This looks like it could be a fun watch. Might be a really chill show.

Nikolita: Like Spirited Away crossed with a cat cafe?

Charibo: In other words, it’s a supernatural maid cafe.

Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni

Animation Company: Production Reed
Website: http://isesuma-anime.jp
Genre: Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy, Romance
Airing Date: July 11, 2017
Summary: Touya Mochizuki was accidentally killed, and as an apology, God allows him to be reborn in a fantasy world and will grant him any one wish he desires. And so, Touya chooses to keep his smartphone in the next world. In his second chance at life, he befriends many important figures and comes across the world’s secret. He inherits the legacy of an ancient civilization and travels around nonchalantly while possessing powers that rival this world’s kings.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: Uhhh, is it just me or does it feel really outdated? Well it doesn’t matter, I’m not interested.

Vantage: That feel when it’s possible to use the phrase ‘poor man’s Konosuba’ without it sounding like an oxymoron.

Berry: This dude gets to be reincarnated into another world and gets any wish. He could wish for his family to accompany him, or friends, or something more important. His…phone. His fucking phone. I just…can’t.

Nikolita: Because the stereotype of millennial being obsessed with their smartphones isn’t already everywhere? That being said, it *would* be neat to have such a piece of technology in a fantasy world if it isn’t as advanced as our own.

Charibo: OHOHOHO another generic harem I won’t even bother to watch.

Jigoku Shoujo Yoi no Togi

Animation Company: Studio DEEN
Website: http://www.jigokushoujo.com
Genre: Mystery, Psychological, Supernatural, Horror
Airing Date: July 15, 2017
Summary: The fourth TV series of Jigoku Shoujo. The new series will have six new episodes and six “reminiscence” episodes.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: Holy crap I’m getting serious flashbacks of when I first started watching anime in the early days. The the last time we saw Hell Girl (S3) was in 2008, that’s almost 10 years ago!!!!! But yeah, I still remember the first time I tried to watch this. I couldn’t because it scared me too much hahahaha!

Vantage: I feel like this is how the Kino no Tabi reboot will go next season. Six new episodes and six repeats. It’s been a very long time since I’ve had anything to do with Jigoku Shoujo, and I’m not sure if I’m in the mood for it.

Berry: I was debating whether I should blog this, but I think I’ll pass. I enjoyed Hell Girl a lot and another season after almost 10 years is insane, but considering that it’s been years since I’ve seen the show I’m hazy on character and plot details. Also, Hell Girl was usually an episodic show and that would be tough to blog. But I’m really looking forward to this new season. :)

Nikolita: More Hell Girl! I won’t blog it but I might watch the first couple of episodes.

Charibo: I remember reading all the mangas when I was young. Come to think of it that was a rather dark and gloomy thing to read… Might explain a lot of things about me.

Jikan no Shihaisha

Animation Company: Project No.9
Website: http://chronosruler.jp
Genre: Supernatural, Shounen
Airing Date: July 8, 2017
Summary: The story centers on “Chronos Rulers,” those who fight the time-eating demons that appear when people wish they could turn back time. The Chronos Rulers fight a time-manipulation battle against these demons.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: Errrr…. I thought I’d be into it, but the reality is, I’m not.

Vantage: Yet another example of something with production values from the 2000s. It’s not like good art is always a make-or-break, but it’s important to leave a good first impression, you know?

Berry: That CG looks bad.

Nikolita: Nope.

Charibo: Sorry, not interested.

Kakegurui

Animation Company: MAPPA
Website: http://kakegurui-anime.com
Genre: Mystery, Drama, School, Shounen, Psychological
Airing Date: July 1, 2017
Summary: Hyakkaou Private Academy. An institution for the privileged with a very peculiar curriculum. It’s not athletic prowess or book smarts that keep you ahead. It’s reading your opponent. What better way to hone those skills than with a rigorous curriculum of gambling? Here, the winners live like kings, and the losers are put through the wringer.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: Eh, I don’t mind reading psychological stories, but I don’t like watching them as much.

Vantage: Mary is the cutest and the best. A real bitch, but also super cute. I’ve read the manga, and it’s basically Akagi-style gambling but without the mahjong. Don’t really want to blog it, though. I’d know what’s up in advance, so each post would just collapse into waifuposting.

Berry: This looks insane and right up my alley!

Nikolita: A show about gambling, but it’s got a lot of psychology? I might actually take this one.

Charibo: First, I was repelled by the little fan-service side I thought the show had. But after checking out the first chapters of the manga, it’s no big deal. I actually enjoyed it (and there’s only one guy so far… which means a lot to me).

Katsugeki Touken Ranbu

Website: http://katsugeki-touken.com

Summary: The year is 1863 as the tumultuous samurai era is coming to an end, Japan is split between the pro-shogunate and anti-shogunate factions. The fate of the world is threatened as an army of historical revisionists are sent from the future to alter the course of history. In order to bring these forces down and protect the real history, two sword warriors, spirits who are swords brought to life by Saniwa (sage), rush to Edo. The polite and thoughtful Horikawa Kunihiro and the short tempered yet skillful Izuminokami Kanesada, who served the same master, confront the invading army along with a lively gang of other warriors including Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki, Yagen Toushirou, Tombokiri, and Tsurumaru Kuninaga.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2 | PV 3

Team Impression

Eva: Ah so this is what Ufotable been working on! ;) But in all seriousness, I am definitely interested in this one (though I am 99% sure it’s going to be tragic). Will have to take a look to see how it is. Looks like it will be stunning to watch, as expected of Ufotable.

Vantage: As I was saying to Eva recently, ufotable plus Touken Ranbu is like pouring more money onto an already-guaranteed pile of gold. Look at how successful Kancolle was with Diomedea. Touken Ranbu could end up with a meme studio like DEEN and still turn over a tidy profit.

Berry: The other Touken Ranbu anime didn’t catch my interest at all, however this one does. It looks and sounds cool so I’m into it.

Nikolita: Samurai show, pass.

Charibo: I’m still salty about how Tales of Zestiria the X ended … I’m not ready to trust Ufotable for now…

Keppeki Danshi! Aoyama-kun

Animation Company: Studio Hibari
Website: http://kda-anime.com
Genre: Comedy, Sports
Airing Date: July 3, 2017
Summary: Aoyama, the handsome young soccer genius that’s a representative of Japan. His play style is “cleanliness.” He doesn’t tackle and doesn’t head the ball. If he’s doing a throw-in, he’ll only do it if he’s wearing gloves.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: … Uh, on the contrary to some reactions, it sounds pretty… normal. I’ll have to see how it is to get a feel of how far he takes his “cleanliness” style.

Vantage: What? Aren’t football pitches muddy by definition?

Berry: Okay so yeah I just said sports anime is an automatic yes for me. But…I think I’ll skip this one.

Nikolita: No thank you. Looks like it has some potential, just not my thing.

Charibo: Looks like a mix between Sakamoto-kun, Mob Psycho 100 and some soccer anime.

Knight’s & Magic

Animation Company: 8-bit
Website: http://knights-magic.com
Genre: Action, Fantasy, Mecha
Airing Date: July 2, 2017
Summary: In the story, a Japanese mecha otaku dies in a car accident and his soul is reincarnated into another world as Ernesti Echevarria. Eru inherits memories and interests from his previous life, and aims to be a pilot of a Silhouette Knight, a large humanoid weapon that really exists in his world.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: Mecha?! I do miss my dose of mecha since I had to drop Gundam due to circumstances, so I’d be happy to give this one a shot. Intriguging premise to say the least.

Vantage: I’m still in a love-hate relationship with 8-bit ever since Rewrite ended. This looks alright though.

Berry: No.

Nikolita: *twitches*  You have no idea how much the typo in the title bugs me. >_<;

Charibo: Mecha Mecha, yadaaa

Website: http://koiuso-anime.com
Genre: Drama, Romance
Airing Date: July 4, 2017
Summary: Lies are forbidden and love moreso. In the near future, when you turn sixteen, you are assigned a marriage partner by the government. Yukari Nejima is a below average fifteen year old, but in within him, hides a heart burning with passion! In this world in which love is forbidden, what will happen to him?
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: O___O Wow that’s… that’s rough, but damn you have my attention.

Vantage: Their shoujo eyes stare into my soul. Also, that girl’s character design reminds me of poor Hanabi from Kuzu no Honkai. Except less cute.

Berry: God I can’t take anymore love triangles. But this has a lot of promise, I like the plot. I want to see why the government is this way.

Nikolita: Curious about this one!

Charibo: Oooh, over-controlling society in the future? That tickles my SF fan side. But I doubt this show will follow that way and I don’t particularly like romance so that’s a no for me (although I could be wrong and if that’s the case, I’ll definitively watch it)

Konbini Kareshi

Animation Company: Studio Pierrot
Website: http://www.tbs.co.jp/anime/konbini/
Genre: Slice of Life
Airing Date: July 7, 2017
Summary: Six students are each getting on with their lives, and all of them will visit the nearby convenience store after school. Each goes there for different reasons: to eat ice cream after club activities, to get the latest issue of this week’s game magazine, to purchase ingredients, to meet friends, or to stock up on their favorite food. The convenience store becomes the place they can relax and make small memories.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: That’s sweet and all but it sounds really boring. :\ Not for me.

Vantage: Imagine picking up girls at the convenience store.

Berry: Sounds cute but kinda boring.

Nikolita: Kinda a neat idea. :)

Charibo: Oh, I recognize Cheer Danshi’s art style. That’s all I have to say.

Made in Abyss

Animation Company: Kinema Citrus
Website: http://miabyss.com
Genre: Adventure, Fantasy, Sci-Fi
Airing Date: July 7, 2017
Summary: The “Abyss” is the last unexplored place in the world. Strange and wonderful creatures roam within, and it is full of precious relics that present humans can’t recreate. Those that dare to explore the depths are known as “Cave Raiders.” An orphan girl named Rico lives on the rim. Her dream is to become a Cave Raider like her mother and solve the mysteries of the cave system. One day, Rico starts exploring the caves and discovers a robot who resembles a human boy.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: Yeah, not happening.

Vantage: I really love the synopsis and I love Kinema Citrus too, but the art style makes me hesitate. It’s like it’s meant for kids or something. I thought I’d be able to get over it, but it’s hard even after a couple of watches of the PV. I’ll still try it, but very cautiously.

Berry: Seriously it looks like it could be a video game. The designs of the characters may be off putting but the backgrounds are lovely and this actually looks like an interesting show so I’m curious about it.

Nikolita: Looks kinda kiddie-ish?

Charibo: Yeah it kind of looks like it could be a 3DS game

They discipline their son to become a brave hero of the village. Nike himself does not want to be a hero at all, but he grows up to become a mighty boy. One day the king of the village, Kodai, recruits troops to fight against the ruler of the darkness, Giri. Kukuri and Nike are accepted. The two children, the strong but reluctant hero Nike, and the eager but unskilled little witch Kukuri, set out on a wonderful journey full of adventures and friendship.

Eva: 1994 Remake, and considering I have not seeing it, and I do like to watch really old series, this is probably going to be one of those series I’d like to binge-watch in the future.

Vantage: No thanks.

Berry: Never heard of this. Eh.

Nikolita: Haven’t read the manga before, or seen the original adaption, so pass.

Charibo: I looks a lot like Senyuu… and that show was great so why not.

Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: Look I like Marvel series, but not this one. Also the summary reminds me a bit of Young Justice.

Vantage: I dislike the idea of this for the same reason that I’m not fond of live-action adaptations of anime or manga series.

Berry: I love Marvel too but no thanks.

Nikolita: I have virtually no interest in any superheros, save for maybe Batman. Definitely no interest in the Avengers. Yes I’m boring as shit. ;P

Charibo: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, nononononononon, I won’t volunteer for this, take anyone but me. I refuse to do it. I have no interest whatsoever in super heroes.

Team Impression

Eva: That’s a tough situation to be dragged into. I wonder how serious this is going to be. Will it be comedic or competitive like a sport?

Vantage: Reminds me of Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu. Except… well, not as fun.

Berry: Listen…I love game shows. Trivia shows. Trivia games. Stuff like that. I love learning random useless facts. I fucking love it so I’m SO excited for this.

Nikolita: Sounds stressful. x_x

Charibo: You know what? WHY NOT? Sounds like some sort of sport anime and I like sports anime.

Vantage: I’ve fallen behind with Monogatari. Won’t be able to blog this.

Berry: There’s…more of this I see. :|

Nikolita: I’ve never seen or read any of the Monogatari series, but they seem to be quite popular.

Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: Don’t be fooled by the moe characters, this is definitely NOT going to be sunshines in rainbow, but an actual bloodbath.

Vantage: This is giving me Gunslinger Girl vibes. Studio 3Hz have produced a bunch of interesting shows in their short time on the market, so I’ll definitely give this a go.

Berry: Again, I’m turned off from the art style, but after blogging Magical Girl Raising Project and seeing how brutal and bloody that was, I can say for certain this show will be like that despite the cute girls. So…yes please.

Nikolita: I *really* want to like this, but spy stuff just bores me. Dammit. >_<  It looks pretty good, too.

Charibo: I don’t care about cute girls.

Eva: I’ll be skipping this one.

Vantage: Nope.

Berry:Never got into Saiyuuki.

Nikolita: It sounded interesting, but then I saw the preview and I think I’ll pass. 4 human males driving around in a Jeep beating up elves?

Charibo: Sadly, I have only read Sayuuki Gaiden so I’m too far away in the main storyline to cover this. I heard Sayuuki never got a decent adaptation tho. I wonder if that’s gonna be the one.

Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: Lost interest after season 2.

Vantage: Nothing gets me as hyped as Symphogear does. It never gets old, and the hype train has been fantastic three times now. They’re shaking up the formula too, because Hibiki never did succeed in saving Genocide-chan at the end of GX. Also looking forward to the new Yuuki Aoi song and new duets by DMJii and Maria and Tsubasa, ft. increased lewd hand-holding and the renewed presence of Top Dad. It’s this Sunday, be there or be square!

Berry: This sounds really cool!

Nikolita: Meeeeh. Kinda of sounds like Akatsuki no Yona?

Charibo: FINALLY! AT LAST MY WAIT WAS REWARDED! Shoukoku no Altair is great. I’ts a nice historical fiction about war, tactics, alliances and other cool things like that. Leave this one to me, my body is ready.

The three of them want to form a band and ask for Kyou’s help.
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: NO.

Vantage: Hey, don’t look at me. I’m not interested in this for the same reason that I disliked Ro-Kyu-Bu – I draw the line at having adult or teen male characters around in loli shows. That goes against everything I think lolis are for.

Berry: There’s…so much I want to say about this. How uncomfortable it makes me feel, how Japan has this thing with little girls, how this show could go very wrong, I just…well, I’m not going to write a paragraph here.

Nikolita: Elementary school kids in a band? Well I guess if it’s like a garage band or something…

Charibo: Because I still think K-On was a mistake, don’t get me started on this one.

Vantage: I know this has some respectable cred behind it, but I’m not really in the mood for it.

Berry: This sounds dumb.

Nikolita: Well they do, actually. They could let her learn from her dumb mistakes until she figures things out. But that would be a little harsh, and hey we wouldn’t have a point to this series then. ;P

Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2

Team Impression

Eva: The second I saw this was getting an adaption I said, “OH HELL NO.” A year or two ago, out of curiousity I read a bit of this manga, but I dropped it fast. There are far better and more healthy-relationship yuri series out there. It’s sad how messed up it is… >_>;;;

Vantage: So again, Kuzu no Honkai. Seriously, NTR stuff can go die in a fire.

Berry: Reading Eva’s comment and checking the PV…yeah, I get a bad feeling from this. This could be a show about two girls realizing their sexualities and what steps they’ll take next in their lives, but this is probably going to end up being smut geared to guys because we can’t get nice lesbian relationships. Or healthy gay love in general.

Nikolita: No thanks, not a yuri fan.

Charibo: What I said about that Shounen Ai show before also applies here: Romance is not for me.

Overall Thoughts

Eva: Surprise! I’m back! I won’t lie, while Katsugeki Touken Ranbu is the show that sold me to participate this summer (I wasn’t planning on possibly returning as a full time writer until the Fall), Ballroom e Youkoso is what drew my attention to this season in the first place. Now while there isn’t a whole lot of shows that gets me excited like those two, I am looking forward to Fate/Apocrypha, Koi to Uso, and Knight’s & Magic (more out of curiosity). However I can’t see myself covering more than 3 shows (including VRAINS), so I am thinking of possibly yielding Ballroom e Youkoso to Charibo, and look to make a pick among the remaining three if they are left untouched. That being said, I am quite pleased to see there’s a good handful of shows that have piped my interest this season, especially since I haven’t watch anything beyond the Yu-Gi-Oh! series I’ve been covering for the past year. I am sure to be a bit rusty, so please bear with me!

Vantage: Ehh. To be honest, I wasn’t originally going to participate in the season. I’m interested in almost nothing, and lately I’ve been feeling like it’s high time for a break anyway after six to seven years of doing this. That’s how I spent most of the last season, in fact. The thing is, my real-life commitments are such that in a few years, I will most definitely not have any time to blog whatsoever, whereas my life will never again be as free as it will be over the next ten months or so. In other words, better now than later, even if the end result is that I’m burned out entirely. The solution I’ve arrived at, at least for this season, is to pick up a select few shows like New Game and Symphogear which I know I will definitely be excited for, and just roll with those.

Berry: I actually have plenty of time to blog but this season looks dry af. The three shows I for sure want to check out and blog are Kakegurui, Princess Principal, and the Vatican one. I’ll check out THE REFLECTION because it deserves to be looked at, and maybe 18if. But of course, like I sometimes do, there may be a show that comes out that will totally surprise me and I’ll end up reviewing it so I can’t totally say these are the only shows I’ll blog. But yeah, this season seems pretty average. Well I could use my extra time to catch up to other shows. *shrug*

Nikolita: This season seems pretty average, but there’s not any one show I’m super excited for. Life and health have encouraged me to blog a little less for the time being, so in addition to Re:CREATORS I will probably only pick up one or two shows. I will preview the couple that looks interesting and if I want to cover one or both, great, but if not then I’ll just stick to my one continuing show. That being said if I blog less, I would like to do more manga reviews and other projects to compensate.

Charibo: Yup, I do have the same feeling as my comrade above, this season looks average. To be honest I’m only excited for Ballroom e Youkoso and Shoukoku no Altaïr. I might try to cover Dive! or the quiz show one but I’m still note sure about that. Huuum… I hope I do not sound too unmotivated. I’m motivated but just for a couple of shows and it does seem a bit ridiculous compared to the amount of choices we got here. But heh, who knows? I might get a good surprise :)

Isekai Shokudou’s more of a slice of life anthology series about the enjoyment of food. Focus is on various fantasy peoples coming to said restaurant and enjoying the well-prepared 21st century western-style Japanese cuisine there. The source novel is has many descriptive words on how appetizing a dish is.

Dive counts as a youth drama series, so expect drama. Some people who saw the prescreening of the 1st 2 eps say a major theme is Sacrifice to acheive your goals.

Really compared to spring I’m not excited for summer either.

Like how more people are trying out the magical girl genre but I feel only PreCure does a good job with the genre. (Not a fan of Sailor Moon and haven’t got the chance to watch Puella Madoka)

And on top of that…what’s with the craze of going back in time two generations ago?

  3. Wanderer says:

    For the record, guys:
Centaur no Nayami – calling it a “poor man’s Demi-chan” is getting things reversed. This series explores social and life issues with a depth that Demi-chan doesn’t even begin to touch. The only real concern is that the people making this adaptation apparently do not have a good track record at all, so it could end up going poorly despire having strong source material.

Enmusubi no Youko-chan – this is an adaptation of a Chinese ANIME, known as Fox Spirit Matchmaker (I’m not even going to try typing out the Chinese name). The original is very much an anime in every sense, and it is quite good: a remarkably well-balanced mix of comedy, action, romance, and drama.

Made in Abyss – this is absolutely NOT MADE FOR KIDS. Ye gods. Do not expose your children to it unless you want them to have PTSD.

New Game – Vantage, how could you not recognize the wonderfulness that is Nenecchi? Nene is a good girl.

Also, there’s something weird going on with your comment system these days. If I type too long a comment, the “post comment” button scrolls off the bottom of the little window area designed for it, and there seems to be no way to scroll down in that area and get it back. While this can cut down on comment size if people know what’s happening, when I didn’t it resulted in me staring at the page going “WTF? How am I supposed to post this?!”

Thank you for informing us about that. I have just updated the theme, please let me know if this solves the problem, if not I’ll send a note to the theme’s developer about that. Most likely something is broken or a bug and hopefully it can be patched up in the next update since it’s not supposed to do that. :(

Still appears to be a problem. I can easily test it just by clicking into the text box for a post and holding down the Enter key. The screen quickly scrolls down and all the interface stuff at the bottom (the post comment button, the part with my login info, all of that) quickly scrolls right off the bottom of the post area. And I can’t scroll in that section: every attempt to do so just scrolls the entire screen, which doesn’t do anything for this issue.

Since you may need to know for tech support, I’m using Firefox version 54.0.1 (32-bit).

That’s weird, I don’t have that problem…. But I’m using Firefox 54.0.1 (64-Bit). I wonder if that changes things… It would be good to know if this is a problem for many others as well. Anyhow I’ll send a notice to the developer and hopefully there will be a fix! ; A ; Thanks for the feedback on the issue! Always appreciated!

Nenecchi is a spy! And a pudding thief! A PUDDING THIEF!

I’m actually wondering how they’ll slot her into this season if she’s to have anything more than a role at the margins, given that she was only ever at Eagle Jump part-time.

As for Made in Abyss, I was hoping it’d turn out to be something along those lines, but the anime’s art style looks like such a disappointment when compared to the source material’s.

      • Wanderer says:

Aww, come on. It was an accident, and she got really upset when she realized she’d done it.

I’ll let you find out for yourself how she does and doesn’t fit into things this season. :D

I’ve steered clear of Made in Abyss personally, but other people who are following it have made it very clear that, despite the designs, it is some really dark stuff.

  4. Omg i have to watch many of them , now my target for next few month is try to finish the anime’s in this list,
