Being Yunyun is suffering.

Impression

I’ll be Yunyun’s friend! I’ll even do it for free! It’s a wonder that she hasn’t gone and done something stupid in her attempt to make friends with people. Maybe this is because it’s me, or because of the nature of Konosuba, but now I’m worried that Yunyun is going to recklessly do something lewd with some random person in an attempt to outdo Megumin. I’m actually surprised that Yunyun has no friends. I really am. She’s so cute! Is there literally no-one in the Crimson Demon village that wants to be friends with a cute girl? And I’m even more surprised that Megumin isn’t her friend. The implication was that she and her sister grew up poor, right? Yunyun literally had several times more food than she could have eaten at that birthday party. As the daughter of the Crimson Demon leader, she must have been loaded. Although I guess any more than living off her lunches would have made Megumin not all that different from Funifura and Dodonko. What kind of names are those, anyway?

I suppose Megumin looks like a little girl because she was malnourished as a child. And as far as Kazuma is concerned, she’s still a child. I think it’s actually rather debatable. She’s at that awkward age where she isn’t from her own perspective, as the one who hasn’t grown as much as her self-proclaimed same-age rival with bigger boobs but fewer friends, but at the same time to everyone else she kind of is. At any rate, Megumin being a lolikko was never what I primarily liked about her and instead just a happy coincidence. Konosuba has never had anything to do with romance so far, but if I had to ship Kazuma with someone it would probably be Megumin, despite the age difference. They simply have the best banter.

Aqua is too stupid (and doesn’t understand her charm point is her Kachou Fuugetsu and not her hair loop) while I don’t think he’s the S to Darkness’s M, as much as he might like her body upon first glance. So he gets along with Megumin the best. Part of me does feel that their relationship is more sibling-like than romantic, but it’s become too lewd to classify it like that without opening the can of worms that comes with lewd sibling interactions, as comfy as their bath scene together was. It’s actually hilarious when you compare that to the bath Kazuma had with Darkness, although to his credit he thought that was part of the succubus dream he ordered.

The toad hunting scene (one of many now) was also great. That piston motion in and out of the toad mouths probably made it the lewdest so far. Seeing Aqua suffering always makes me laugh. It also makes you realise that Darkness plays a really important role as the tank of the party, as much as she’s enjoying ‘climbing the stairs to adulthood’. I have no idea whether Kazuma will end up inviting Yunyun to join them on a permanent basis, but after some thought it’s unlikely for two reasons. First, she actually seems competent and doesn’t have a flaw that makes her absolutely useless despite her lack of social skills, and second, it’s funnier when she’s being made to squirm about having no friends.

Hmm, yeah, Megumin and Kazuma do have the best banter. I’d compare it to Touma and Index in Toaru Majutsu no Index. The main characters are also similar, because Touma had a preference for Kanzaki and Kazuma has a preference for Darkness. Their relationship is kind of weird since it’s like a sibling relationship but Megumin also got really upset when Kazuma compared her to Yunyun.

Personally, I think they should’ve waited for Darkness to do quests. She really is the tank of the party. Absorbing damage and distracting enemies while Kazuma does his stuff.
