A few episodes ago I was pondering dropping this show because I was a little sick of the shtick. Yet ever since giving it more of a chance to properly understand the jokes and just ‘buying’ into what the show has told me I have done [HorribleSubs] Sakamoto desu ga - 10 [720p].mkv_20160619_212302.109nothing short of enjoy every episode. If you go into Sakamoto simply believing what the characters believe is truly as magnificent as it is, you will love it. There is a great comparison I can bring up for this show: every whacky stunt pulled off by Sakamoto is basically Looney Tunes era cartoons played straight. Instead of his extra large jacket to hide his hands impersonating someone else’s while he eats food with proper etiquette stunt simply being a joke to be found out, it works because Sakamoto is the one who is pretending to be his classmates hands to eat fancy french food in a giant trenchcoat. Sakamoto can play his arm and the indentations in his skin and his perfect air flow will make it sound like french music. Sakamoto can sound perfect in German when he burps.

If you go into Sakamoto expecting an anime where everything makes sense, don’t. If this anime were serious it [HorribleSubs] Sakamoto desu ga - 10 [720p].mkv_20160619_211851.906would be about some douchey too perfect guy who just does everything cause he is just the ‘greatest’. Sakamoto is the greatest because he literally exists in the universe as an anomaly of common sense and reason. If he weren’t Japanese he would be in an old cartoon and it’s just very refreshing once you look at it in that way. I love the way the characters are all actively growing and this episode was very surprising: once again we see Shou the delinquent bishounen growing into a good person and being very friendly with Sakamoto. It’s weird, Sakamoto wins the hearts of everyone so thoroughly I could really see him shipped with anyone. In this episode he wins the hearts of college women as well as earning what seemed to be Shou’s true loyalty.

I’m excited to see how this episode plays into the finale of the show. If we’ve learned anything, meaningful bonds are what Sakamoto uses to defeat his worst enemies. If you aren’t watching, give it a shot.

Sakamoto’s mangaka, Sano Nami, will be one of the special guests at this year’s Los Angeles Anime Expo. If anyone’s attending this’ll be the perfect chance to meet the brains behind this series.
