The episode opens with Sakura talking to her deceased mother, and wondering what Hayato is up to.

What is he doing? Well he’s at Claire Harvey’s summer house, as per her request. She’s getting all nice and lotioned up, and fails to notice that her swimsuit is untied. So Hayato gets a nice face full of chest, which I’m sure he’s probably not complaining about. Libby gets all offended on Claire’s behalf and comes running out of the pool, except she slips as she takes a swing at our plucky hero and lands on him. With her crotch in his face. And when she freaks out, she reaches back for leverage and accidently grabs his crotch. Let’s just say it was an embarrassing scene for everyone.

vlcsnap-00009But onto the mission Claire has for Hayato. A variable stone was stolen during the Savage attack on the Zwei Islands, one Sakura was going to use during her concert. No one knows where it is, and there’s a chance the thieves could return to try to steal more. For the time being, Hayato’s to keep an eye out for it while he’s guarding Sakura. Then Claire attempts to challenge Hayato to a swimming contest with him in a speedo, but he says fuck that noise and leaves to have a date with Emilia. (Damn.)

Emilia shows up and talks Hayato into getting changed, and hot damn he looks good in casual clothes. After Hayato’s in his new threads, he tells Emilia to pick out a necklace and he’ll get it for her. He means it as a nice gesture, but Emilia interprets it as Hayato thinking of her as his girl. He gets flustered and tries to leave, but their two friends Fritz and Latia enter the store, so they temporarily hide in a very small changing room. Not that Emilia is complaining.

After they leave the store, Emilia dashes off to grab them some drinks. Just then Hayato gets an emergency call from Claire – Sakura’s disappeared. She left on her own, but it’s still a mystery as to where she’s gone. Just then, a spunky girl with pink hair pops up in front of Hayato – it’s Sakura! She wants to show him a special place, right that instant, so poor Hayato gets dragged away from his date with Emilia. He has to text her from the cab to explain the situation. Not cool, Sakura.

Once they arrive, Sakura announces their destination: the Zwei Grand Canyon. Sakura is grateful to Hayato for protecting Zwei Island, the canyon included, because she has memories of being with her mother at the canyon and she didn’t want to see it destroyed. She wants to thank him by singing him a song, and it’s one Hayato recognizes; however he shouldn’t, because it’s a song Sakura’s mother created for her. One thing leads to another and it’s revealed that during the second Savage attack in Gudenberg many years prior, Sakura, Karen and Hayato all stayed at the same shelter together. Sakura sang the song from her mother during the attack, and then afterwards Hayato and Karen left together, while Sakura remained behind. Hayato’s parting comment is what gave Sakura the motivation to practice singing vlcsnap-00025and become better at it. D’awww!

Sakura goes on to tell Hayato that she later became ill with an unknown virus. She became Souffle’s charge and lost her voice, and wasn’t getting better. Her father sold Sakura to a Warslarn research facility where she was injected with a vaccine made from Savage fluids. All of the children except Sakura eventually died, but she survived and regained her ability to sing. Oh and did I mention Souffle was/is a genetic engineer?

The man who was experimenting on Sakura and the other children wasn’t searching for a cure for the virus, however. He was trying to turn human children into powerful Slayers. Eventually Souffle and Charlotte found Sakura and rescued her from Warslarn. Why do we know this name? Well, Warslarn is the HQ which runs Little Garden, no? Hmm…

Anyways, Sakura gets excited about reconnecting with Hayato and wants to race back to the concert hall to work on some new songs between rehearsals.  They manage to catch a bus back, but a sudden attack from out of nowhere sends their bus rolling along the ground. Explosions send them flying, and from within the shattered bus they can see the body of a Savage looming above them…!

My thoughts: This show has awesome pacing. Not a whole lot happened this episode, but the plot is moving along smoothly, and a small detour into Flashbackville didn’t derail the episode. Sucks we didn’t get to see some Hayato fanservice though. *pouts*

I’m looking forward to next week’s episode as always!

Damn…off to pixiv to draw Hayato in a speedo because this show flashed the opportunity in our faces and yanked the rug from under us.

Can we see a link when you’re done? *halo* Pretty please?

I’m surprised Hayato is being drawn at all on pixiv lol. Especially doing ecchi-stuff. Then again he is pretty good-looking for your standard Harem-Ecchi MC (its that plugsuit doe’). Kind of reminds me that I was one of the….2 people on pixiv drawing Shimai Maou no Testament Yaoi.
