Well, it looks like we finally hit the end of the “Canonical” stuff and we have entered in Filler territory. Oh dear. For a show about nothing for a lot of the time, i’m about to hit a lot more of the nothing. I..am so…excited. I bet you can hear the excitement radiating through my typed words. We just got through a round of the tournament. So you know what that means. That’s right. Time to put a dead stop on the tournament whilst Wet Blanket must discover why he sucks so much. And yes, i’m not joking, that’s the plot of the episode.
So the episode starts up with everyone getting praise for the previous round and everyone in Takahoma talking about their potential except for Wet Blanket’s trainer because..well..Wet Blanket kind of sucks. The other people in his team don’t seem to think so, as he’s a source of personal strength for them both, however, he doesn’t want to just be that, he wants to be actually useful in battle.

(In Droopy voice) oh...why do I suck so much?
(In Droopy voice) oh…why do I suck so much?

So as he’s wandering around in the forbidden zone a random neighbor bot pops out and comes at him. He tries to fight back but Bitchface mcgee shows up and tells him that it was just a PR video they were trying to make.
He thens talks to Bitchface asking if she’ll train him, but she’s a bitch about it so he tells her never mind. She’s then like “oh, you should have asked me MORE.” Because she basically just wanted to make him beg because she’s a bitch. Fuck you bitch! I HATE YOU! Yes… yes this is my most hated character in the show.

Hey Bitch! Go die in a fire!
Hey Bitch! Go die in a fire!

Must..not…rant…of how i hate her…..must..continue….review…..
(smacks self) okay okay. So anyway bitch mcgee spars with him for a bunch of rounds but repetatively kicks his butt. She gets tired of it so another person offers to spar with him. And another, and another. until he eventually gets tired and heads back and everyone at Takahoma branch is waiting for him. And that’s where the episode ends.

Ow...my sternum
Ow…my sternum

Oh yeah. And I forgot about a scene where he’s patrolling the streets and a young boy sees him and goes “oh boy mister! i want to be just like you!” and then a neighbor attacks. He takes out two smaller ones, but the large one’s too much for him to handle and Duckface saves him. Yeah…

Damn it wet blanket you had ONE JOB!
Damn it wet blanket you had ONE JOB!

So in general with this episode, it’s really driving the point home that Wet Blanket sucks. A lot. And we’re 48 episodes and he doesn’t seem to be getting much better. I actually hope this filler arc will buff him up because i can only take so many “Wet Blanket sucks” fights. it’s getting annoying. I want him to start actually kicking ass. 48 episodes of him sucking is enough.

No joke, this is pretty much the whole episode
No joke, this is pretty much the whole episode

This episode looks like that it’s aware of this problem and hopefully is starting to rectify it. Trust me. I’m all for a guy starting out weak and getting strength. The alternative is a super gary stu and we know how much I hate those. But the best part of an underdog is watching them get stronger and overcoming adversity. Right now I just feel sorry for wet blanket. I’m sitting here going “Wow…that really sucks and is getting uncomfortable to watch”. I see what they’re trying to do with this character, it’s getting a little on the irritating side. We get it. He sucks. Let’s move on.

Yeah...I wasn't joking. THIS is the whole episode
Yeah…seriously. THIS is the whole episode

Then again, this show isn’t exactly known for its rocket pacing. But, I do have to say, something I DO like about Wet blanket is that he ISN’T like every generic shonen character ever where he starts off sucking but has “a secret power inside of him” (aka Ichigo, Naruto, Gohan) but this guy actually just flat out sucks. That’s a good start, but after 48 episodes i’m getting to the point where I WANT to see him get better. I don’t want to see him suck anymore. I know he has good strategies, but that’s not enough. I want to see him be better all around.
That being said, If what we needed was a “Feel bad for Wet Blanket” episode to get this ball rolling, so be it. But if this doesn’t lead anywhere, I’m going to be very pissed.
Also guess what? Next week starts the super filler arc of fillerness where the filler guys show up. Did I mention it’s filler? Well it is.
Episode 5/10
Well….See you all next week in filler hell.

P.S. Seriously Wet Blanket. STOP SUCKING

…This was about the point where he was actually getting better in the manga. Right after this fight he started training with some higher B-Rank and A-Rank people, and managed to counterattack when he was ambushed in the next battle.
