As the empty feeling from last week’s episode has slowly left me, a slow bitter feeling takes its place. Because I’m astounded at how much this guy’s head is so far up his ass. I’ve never seen a man so delusional. Also, I’m bitter because something like this should have taken place earlier in the series.

[HorribleSubs] Ore Monogatari!! - 23 [1080p].mkv0020

To keep things simple, it’s spring break time and Yamato takes on a part-time job at a bakery she really loves. Takeo was the one that told her that it’d be a good idea. She’s having fun but she catches the eye of the asshole patissier at the bakery, Ichinose. And Ichinose immediately falls for Yamato as she complimented his cake creation, and for some reason this idiot thinks she’s fallen for him. Because she said that she would buy the remaining cakes of his that wouldn’t sell out. They also talk about cakes and all of that stuff. They started off rocky but they get along. Takeo has been secretly watching Yamato and hears Ichinose call Yamato by her first name. He also notes how handsome Ichinose is and his fancy car. Takeo starts to feel insecure all of a sudden. In the end when he and Suna visit her in the bakery, Ichinose runs out…and asks Takeo to break up with Yamato. Because he believes they’re a bad match for each other. And he thinks he’d suit Yamato better because of their shared interest in pastries. Like Suna, I wanted Takeo to talk back at Ichinose more but Takeo says he has a point. At the end of the day it starts to shower and Takeo runs off to pick up Yamato with an umbrella, but Ichinose gives Yamato a ride in his car to the station. While in the car Ichinose asks Yamato for her help with a competition he’s going to be in, and she agrees. Takeo sees her in his car and stops.

This is going to play out the same like the situation with Saijou. At least I hope it will, because I don’t think these two are going to break up in the final episode next week. I’m just going to say right now is that Yamato is going to realize Ichinose likes her (or he’ll just outright say it), but she’ll be like “No, I love Takeo-kun” and reassure him she’ll love him no matter what, even if they don’t have the same interest in pastries. Because they like other things about each other and that should be okay and THE END.

[HorribleSubs] Ore Monogatari!! - 23 [1080p].mkv0084Now, I mentioned this should have appeared in the show sooner. We’ve known from the beginning that Takeo has always been unlucky with girls. So of course when he’d actually get his first girlfriend that he would feel insecure when a guy like Ichinose comes around. There’s nothing wrong with that, it’s understandable. And I think overcoming this insecurity of his would have been really great for Takeo’s character development early on in the series. Because I can’t really say we’ve had much character development for him. The thing with Saijou? I don’t really count that as development. Takeo has practically been the same since episode one. A little dense but with a warm and caring heart. He cares about people, and what we’ve learned today but I’ve always known this, he puts others before himself. So he can be a little bit of a pushover. So now learning that a handsome successful man hangs around his girlfriend and uses her first name, something that he hasn’t done, he’s feeling that insecurity. It’s been about a year? that he and Yamato have been together and he still hasn’t used her first name. He hasn’t taken that step to be in that level of intimacy while a stranger already has. Also, he’s never considered until now that there could be other guys that would like Yamato. But we’ve seen something like this but with Takeo and Saijou.

Ichinose thinks they should break up because they’re not a good match? But what the hell does he know. Okay so Takeo isn’t as knowledgeable as pastries as Yamato is, so what? Who cares? Not all couples have to like the exact same things and know everything about them. There’s other things they like about each other and they’ll be sure to make that clear next episode.

But none of that won’t happen until Takeo stops sulking and actually talks to Yamato. Because again I don’t really think they talk about this stuff too much. Takeo also needs to gain some self-confidence, but I really did wish they had brought this issue up sooner in the show as Takeo would have become a more deep and relatable character. Leaving it until now is just…late. At least that’s what I think. Next week will be the finale, but seeing how sugary and happy this show is, I’m sure Takeo and Yamato are still going to remain a couple and get married or something.
