Monster Musume No Iru Nichijou Episode 5 [Mermaids, Yuri Tentacle Porn, and Miia’s Still a Bitch]

Yyyep. That pretty much sums up this episode. The title? right up there? Yeah, that pretty much describes this episode. Still, I suppose I should go into  more detail. All righty, so he we go, episode 5.

So the episode starts out with the gang worried about how Smith found out about Suu and might try to take her away. At that moment, a bunch of construction people break in as they start tearing apart part of his house to make another room.

However, thinking that the people are there to take Suu away, they ran away with her. Unfortunately, Suu is dehydrated and begins to …ahem.. um..suck moisture off of the three girls.

Meanwhile, while the main guy is looking for the girls he comes across a girl in a runaway wheelchair. He saves her and they happen upon the girls who are exhausted from their (cough) ordeal.

After capturing Suu in a plastic bag he takes them back to the house. Smith shows up and he thanks her for making a room for Suu, however she states that it wasn’t for her but for a new mermaid he’s going to take care of, who, surprise surprise, is the girl in the wheelchair.

So as the episode goes on, she begins to act very nice around the main character and Miia gets incredibly jealous. Firstly she crushes her wheelchair, followed by…just mean spirited things.

This is the part of the review where I list off all the horrible things Miia does and the way she acts. Are we ready? Okay.

First off. She completely wrecks the mermaid’s wheelchair because she needed the main character to carry her up the stairs.

Following this, instead of being apologetic and being nice to her, she becomes even more jealous with her. First she tries to gel herself up to be more slippery (the mermaid has mucus that keeps her wet, but it is also slippery for her clothes to stay on), when that doesn’t work she flat out lowers the temperature of the room in hopes of MAKING HER FREEZE.

When that doesn’t work she then tries to raise the temperature really high to dry her out. My god woman! What is wrong with you?! She does this because of her paranoid delusions that she’ll steal him away from her EVEN THOUGH THEY’RE NOT A COUPLE.

Cerea then tries to step in to talk to the mermaid, who, it turns out is actually just a very sweet girl who treats Cerea like she’s a knight as Cerea senses elegance and grace from her.

Miia then gets upset, stating how it’s not fair and how when she was little she dreamed of having a prince sweeping her off her feet. Because..you know..that’s not a selfish reason to be doing this shit.

Miia decides she has to fight fire with fire and dress up in a swimsuit herself to compete. As she heads into the pool Cerea also comes with her. Miia gets up set at her for also trying to seduce the main character.

Hey Miia, remember a few episodes back when he said that all three of you were choices? Yeah, FUCK YOU MIIA.

The mermaid then falls into the water with the main character, and, thanks to Miia’s paranoid delusions, thinks she’s trying to steal him and jumps in the pool too. But of course, being a naga she can’t really swim and is going to drown until he saves her from being a fuckwad.

It turns out that the guy actually pulled the mermaid in the water because Suu was trying to absorb moisture from her again because Miia turned up the heat. Good fucking job Miia.

In the bath later, Miia chokes out a half ass apology and then immediately tells her that she’s not going to have her “darling”. The mermaid tells her that her intent was never to be his wife, but to be the girl he cheated on his wife with as she loved tragic romances.

Miia of course won’t have that though. Fuck Miia.

And that’s where the episode ends.

Now here’s the thing. Before this episode, I did not like Miia. Like, really at all. However, she just seemed like a generic “I love the main character and that’s my whole character trait” kind of character. This episode proved that’s not the case. This episode proved she’s CRAZY. Like…Yandere crazy. This episode took her from ‘meh’ to “Oh dear sweet jesus, get this bitch out of here!” Before I didn’t like Miia. Now I HATE her.

The mermaid is cute, but she has the problem of blandness that I was afraid she’d have. She’s not going to win any awards for her personality, that’s for sure I’ll tell you that right now. But you know what? I don’t hate her. Hell, I don’t even dislike her. She’s just kind of…there.

Papi and Cerea didn’t have a whole lot of screentime, but the time they were on, I still enjoyed them immensely. They never broke character and they stayed the fun characters from previous episodes.

Here’s the thing. At this point, I have to admit it. I like this show. It’s weird, it’s pretty sexual, but it’s a load of fun. The biggest issue I have is with Miia. She is just an awful, awful, one dimensional character. She has no depth whatsoever and makes the rest of the show annoying to watch. (Sigh) hopefully we’ll get to the last character soon and have all six together. I just…god I don’t like Miia.
