Aoharu x Kikanjuu Episode 4: (S)He’s Not Cut Out for That Tournament
She’s definitely not cut out for that tournament, that’s for sure.
The test Hotaru went through was pretty simple. It was just an accuracy test. She was only shooting at targets, which she all missed as her aim is terrible. Then she moved on to the mock survival match with the manager, only having five minutes to hit him. Hotaru is still pretty new to survival games, so it took her awhile to realize the weakness in her gun. It’s able to shoot 25 pellets in just one second, but that just means if she uses it too much she’ll just lose her ammo faster. If she ran out of ammo in that mock match she would have lost, but she realized that weakness near the end of the match. She never was able to hit the manager, but Hotaru…is terrifying. She was really into the match and she had this bloodlust that the manager compared to an actual soldier in a real war. Goddamn what’s up with her? Anyway, even if she never hit him, she was still able to get her gun. And she found out later that Masamune planned this from the start.
Hotaru is straightforward and honest. And according to everyone else, she’s not cut out for this. She likes acting on her own. Going back to real survival matches, she’s super enthusiastic because she finally has her own gun. But right when she comes into a match, she gets “killed” right off the bat. And it keeps happening again and again in each round. She aim is terrible, so she can’t hit anyone. And she just charges head on into the battlefield so that’s what makes her get hit easily. She’s athletic but she’s overconfident with herself and isn’t taking teamwork or strategy into account. She gets into an argument with Masamune and Yukimura, and her words really hit some personal memory of Masamune, so he sends Hotaru off to the other team.
Now Hotaru is upset and terrified at the thought that she’s officially out of Toy Gun Gun. I do think Hotaru is in the wrong though. She didn’t bother listening to Masamune about working in a team, and Hotaru is probably going to be learning this lesson in the red team.
Now this Midori man. I just want to know what he has against Yukimura and especially Masamune. It seems Masamune had close ties with him and something went wrong between them. I really am interested in this and I hope they talk about it soon. On the outside Midori seems like a genuinely nice man. He’s attractive, kind, and as a doctor he’s very popular with his patients. But we see another side to him where he’s a little malicious and twisted. So he’s not as pure as he seems. A man that loves working with children? Too good to be true, amirite? No I’m just kidding.
Anyway, so far this show has been a tiny bit slow for the past couple episodes. I’m really excited to see the actual tournament as it seems to be a really huge deal. I want to see the other teams and to see more action. And I want to see the relationship between Masamune and Midori. But we won’t be able to see that until Hotaru improves.
