Uta no Prince-sama: Maji Love Revolutions Ep 13 [FINAL] What the fuck just happened?!
I thought this was supposed to be a finale…
What the fuck just happened? Is this real life? Did Heavens just return and make this series awesome again- which made me confused because I didn’t know what the fuck was happening because I thought this was the finale and I’m like:
– Huh? Who the fuck is this? Oh please tell me it’s Heavens
– LMFAO WELCOME BACK HEAVENS, I MISSED YOU!!!!!
– Did their group just get bigger? They have seven members!
– Wait this is the finale right?
– Oh no they are hot.
– Is this a remixed of their song we have already of? Sounds familiar?
– Yeah it’s the same thing, just remixed with more members
– BWAJAHAHAHAHA THIS IS SO FUCKING RIDICULOUS AND HILARIOUS, THANK YOU HEAVENS
– BWAHAHAHAHAHA LOOKED MORE LIKE HELL WAS JUST UNLEASHED
– THIS ISSSS THE FINALE RIGHT? I am really shocked. This is not like a finale kind of thing.
– But yesss this is what we fucking needed like 6 or 10 episodes ago!!!
– Wow STARISH is terrified/mind blown
– SHION LMFAO WHAT THE FUCK YOU’RE CRAY CRAY I LOVE YOU
– EVIL LAUGHTER. BLESS YOU
– HEAVENS! HEAVENS! HEAVENS! HEAVENS~!!
– Or Hell?
– Wait hang on, THIS IS THE FINALE RIGHT? I AM SO CONFUSED.
– opening artist, wait this isn’t the big thing?
– what. I am really confused right now.
– WHAT IS GOING ON? IS THIS THE END? THIS IS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED
– I NEED CLARIFICATION BECAUSE I AM CONFUSE
– WHAT. NEXT SEASON FUCKING HELL
Okay, wow, talk about a mind-blowing turn of events. I wasn’t sure it we were ever going to hear or see Heavens again, but holy shit- THEY ARE EXACTLY WHAT WE FUCKING NEEDED SIX EPISODES AGO! I couldn’t believe it and what’s even more surprising, I was ecstatic. With this season being so fucking boring with an irritating script, I had threw my Utapri fan cap away long ago, so when Heavens arrived, right from the get go I was screaming- which is super awkward because I’m supposed to be on STARISH’s side and I didn’t particularly like them last season either. But let me tell you why Heavens just saved this fucking show, and how it hooked me in to say, “fuck yeah- I’m going to give season four a shot”. Before this episode, I had already made up my mind that if god forbid they make a 4th season (which I was pretty sure they were going to do at some point to further milk the cash-cow) I wouldn’t tune in, nor cover it. Well, it is truly astonishing just how Heavens can change my mind just by being a total badass. Their epic interruption and entrance to the competition. I didn’t know how much I needed this in Utapri until it actually happened.
If you don’t remember Heavens, they were a three man douche group with a nasty producer who considers Shining his ultimate rival. They competed against STARISH, threatening to take Haruka away from them to be their designated composer. Of course STARISH was having none of that, especially with the way the pricks were treating her. After their defeat, Heavens disappeared and are now back with their own seven man group. Interestingly enough the new members all harbor similar qualities that our STARISH boys have, only with the exception of maybe two of their members, the rest of them look straight out evil as ever. I always laughed at their name because even their performance today was anything but heavenly. It looked more like hell with all the flames and blowing the judges out of the water to the point they are knocked out- like what the fuck is happening. See, this episode was full out crazy, just as we expect Utapri to be and it was so crazy, so exaggerated, it looked as if it was an entirely different show. Maybe it’s because for the last two seasons, the special effects we would see were always rainbows and stars and space, and pretty stuff- but then today is like, I don’t know how to describe it. The only thing i can think of is comparing it to a space battle with all the lasers and beams flying everywhere blowing shit up- and in way that’s kind of what happened because everyone (others we didn’t see) were fighting to be at the top, to be selected for the Triple SSS opening concert. It was truly insane, but it wouldn’t be Utapri if it didn’t do that now would it?
Aside from that I have a confession to make: I didn’t realize this specific event they are all participating in right now, was merely about being selected by judges on who will be the one group to perform for the Triple SSS. Was it just me, or did I miss the memo? Man I was so confused about the whole judging thing because I kept on asking myself, “Wait, isn’t this supposed to be for a Sports event?” Once they finally pointed out it was about who was going to be selected I understood what was going on.
Frankly speaking, I still consider both Quartet Night’s and STARISH’s big performance a total lackluster. It didn’t charm me like it usually does, and the sad part is I had 13 weeks to wait and see if it would grow on me- and it didn’t. But I was actually more disappointed with the fact the song was the same length as the ED theme. I was hoping for more to see maybe there would be charm to the song I hadn’t heard of yet. Anyhow, despite this downfall Heaven’s entrance makes me relieved and hopeful for what they may produce in the future. Now that the intense three-way rivalry is now in place, they have to dish out better songs. Of course that does not excuse them a single bit their mediocre songs for the rivalry between STARISH and Quartet Night.
With continuation confirmed, I am dying to know whether or not the next season will be treated as a second half of this “cour” , and will resume in the FALL 2015 Season. I don’t think it’s a good idea to wait a year after a shitty season like this one with its finale being it’s only redeeming quality. However, while I am willing to to dive in to see what they will throw at us in the next half, I will have conditions. Season 4 must be strong. They set the bar with this finale, now they need to go higher, make it better, through the scripts, the events, make the characters more significant, establish an interesting and intense rivalry that is believable and most importantly, make sure the songs they produce are good enough to be believable, to be perceived as a threat. This was the problem they had with both STARISH and Quartet Night, so they need to step up their game.
Overall, Uta no Prince-sama: Maji Love Revolutions (season 3) was shitty season and I would suggest avoid wasting your time watching it at all cost. Since Season 4 is confirmed, there are a couple of episodes you may have to tune in for this season to understand the rivalry between STARISH and Quartet Night, but the more I think about it, you may not even have to since they failed to make it feel like a big deal.
Final Score: 4/10
Story/Plot: 3/10 – Failure to make it feel significant, and lack of originality and new ideas
Characters & Development: 5/10 – I am giving this a five merely because Haruka is literally the only character who shined. The crappy script is what pulled down the rest of the characters and their charms.
Animation Quality: 6/10
Original Soundtrack: 6/10 – Lackluster songs, and recycled BGM.
Recommendation: Do yourself a favor and don’t waste your time with this season. If you like Quartnet Night though, you might be able to enjoy it a bit more than I did.
