Damn it, they just had to end it at the best part- and worst of all… THERE’S NO EPISODE NEXT WEEK!!!!
DAMN YOU CLIFFHANGER!

It is now officially confirmed: Twilight is Towa, Kanata’s younger sister who had suddenly went missing well before Dyspear had attacked. This is a very interesting situation because her disappearance was the key to exploiting the vulnerability of the Hope Kingdom. To the people, Towa was their ray of hope, but when she disappeared they started losing their dreams (not going to lie here, I found the reasoning ridiculous) and that’s how Dyspear invaded and took over. Kanata was close to succumbing to despair as well, but after having met Haruka, he was able to smile and dream again, which protected him from the darkness ever since.

Go! Princess Precure Ep 20 Img 0003I think it’s safe to say it was more or less confirmed that Dyspear in fact corrupts both perfume and keys. The Perfume however was an essential tool, allowing Twilight to turn into a Dark Precure. However the process of it stunned me. Twilight usually has a solid composure, but while Dyspear was corrupting the perfume with darkness, Twilight looked genuinely terrified. Shut was even concerned for her well-being while Dyspear sat back and watched with an evil smile on her face, which brings me to my next point. Since we know now that Twilight is Kanata’s sister, it begs the question of is Dyspear truly their mother. We haven’t actually heard of much about their mother, it’s something that has been slipped under the rug. Right now however, I am more confident with the idea how Dyspear had someone kidnap Towa, knowing she serves as a double-edge sword. She provides the greatest hope but if she goes missing, she will cause the greatest despair. Dyspear being the great Witch she is, exploited that vulnerability, appears to have successfully brainwashed Towa into thinking her name is Twilight and she is the Black Princess.

Go! Princess Precure Ep 20 Img 0024One of the elements I appreciated was the fact the fourth perfume was not a whimsical choice. It is plot relevant, it has a purpose to fulfill. After the girls were teleported to Hope Kingdom, they were each individually directed to a shrine of a sort which had belonged to the Precure Princess before them. There they received guidance from their veterans, where they learned they have sealed the darkness before in the past, but knew it would come back one day. In order to further prepare  counter measures for that fated day, they created one more Precure Perfume. They had called the girls forward to warn of them about perfume being corrupted, but alas, they were too late.

Being twenty episodes in, it still feels a bit early for Twilight to be saved. I know it is fully possible for it to happen within the next three episodes and I will accept it since the build up was strong, but like I have stressed before, it makes me a bit anxious of who will take her place. Lock has been the primary choice, but I feel like once she is saved, with four Precures, he alone wouldn’t be enough. I would like to see Dyspear have another card up her sleeve, in preparation if Twilight were to be saved this soon into the series.

Go! Princess Precure Ep 20 Img 0006The Haruka x Kanata moments were super sweet and adorable, I kept on internally screaming and flailing but then as Kanata was telling his story about his sister and how his encounter with Haruka was important, it dawned to me as: “Oh shit, she is going to be Sister-Zoned.” The encouragement Kanata had given to Haruka at the time was partially because Towa (Twilight) had a similar dream and was upset she could possibly not become the Grand Princess because she isn’t a precure.

With that in mind, it certainly leads to some interesting rivalry that could happen in the future. If Twilight were to be saved, she is probably going to try and become the Grand Princess now that she’s officially a precure. Kirara and Minami don’t really care for it like Haruka does, so it would be so much fun to see the two duke it out for the position. I would really like to see that because it was an element that a lot of the older magical princess series had.

Now I have to ask: Was anyone kind of disappointed with Twilight’s Dark Precure design? The sad part is she looked more gorgeous just as herself. I feel they could have done a bit better, especially with the wicked hair- but I suppose one could interpret as they wanted her to look evil and more intimidating than pretty.

One of my co-fandom comrades commented in the All Pretty Cure Facebook page said his prediction came to be real and so do I, although thinking twice. And ugh, damn that cliffhanger! Yet maybe the staff might be prepare something surprise for us when the show gets back from its first one-week break.
And… In case you didn’t notice that it’s also episode 555 of the entire Pretty Cure Series, yehey! Kudos to the people behind it whether past or present, then I would say that these guys did a very good job despite of there are times that the official ratings went going down, but the fans’ support and the market strategy game made this amazing franchise’s longevity stand still after 11 years.
OK back to GPPC, it’s cool to know more not only for Kanata and Towa but also how the ancient Princess Cures have been fought a long time ago and that so-called prophecy has already happened. On the other hand, one thing that comes into my mind: How the heck is Dyspear suddenly use her powers in order to create black Dress-Up Keys for Towa? Then, now I know about her mysterious disappearance which led Dys Dark to take over the Hope Kingdom, and Towa’s dream of becoming a Grand Princess even though only the Princess Cures can do that.
True enough that Haru-Haru was the reason why Kanata still believed in hopes and dreams again, so that he already faced the despair in spite of each suffering passed to him. Plus, my kokoro’s got doki doki damn! The HaruTa ship has been sailed my gosh! I mean, they finally meet once again personally after so long. >/////< And Wish the white horse? He can fly without wings!
Although I ain't see too fancy with Towa's ultimate dark form called the Black Princess (dang it, she really IS!), when her close up at the end of the episode seems that it looks like she's just staring at me then I said, "Whoa, whoa, whoa! Don't ya dare ever look at me Towa, you'd better be back to normal instead." But overall, what a shocking and twisted episode!

AH, I FORGOT TO ADD THAT. I read an article about it last week and I completely forgot about it! Amazing isn’t it? 555 episodes!!!!!!

      1. Keiko

I wish that the Cure series would stay even longer (just look how at the two longest-running toku shows Kamen Rider and Super Sentai did!), though the next achievement would be have a 600th episode message, then 665, 700 etc, who knows?!

        1. Eva

I think 50 episodes is good enough, sometimes shows can be too long and so the story ends up dragging. Having a spin-off/sequel revolving around the characters like Pretty Cure 5 GoGo! > Yes! Pretty Cure 5 GoGo! would probably be better- but I can’t even remember if I liked the sequel it’s been too long. XD I’ll have to marathon it again LOL!
I have no doubt in my mind that Precure can reach the next milestone! :Db

          1. Wanderer

Most people thought poorly of Yes 5 GoGo. It did a few things I liked (particularly in transforming Milk (who I couldn’t stand) into Kurumi (who I liked quite a bit)), but overall it did not feel like a particularly strong showing, and it brought in one of my least-favorite characters in all of Precure history.

Did you watch this episode with Commie’s subs? No wonder you’re having trouble making sense of it! I’m not even going to bother until Doremi works their troubles out.
As such, I have not watched the episode. However, in regards to folks having lost their dreams once Towa disappeared, that IS a magical kingdom, and she is blatantly a fairy-tale princess. I’d say it’s a good bet that she actually incarnated dreams or hope or some such thing. So it isn’t just that “oh know, this girl who everyone adored is gone,” but rather that the very source of their ability to feel those emotions had been taken away.

    1. Eva

I did watch CommieSubs, but I did not have any trouble understanding it. Since DoremiSubs will be delayed until the weekend, I didn’t want to take the risk of ending up being piled up with too much work to handle for my wrists.

That’s an interesting way to put it. If she actually has a role like that then yeah I would take it more seriously, but if not then it would remain ridiculous to me.

I wondered when you said “Lock alone?” Shut is still with him but then again, Shut would probably die going crazy because Twilight is no longer with them or, I’m hoping, that Shut reforms and becomes like a servant/fairy for Towa much like how the fairies are with the main precures, because as you said, Shut was concern for Twilight. So more likely, there’s a chance he’ll go “Hell with being evil. My crush is good and I want to always be by her side, so sorry you old hag! You’re out of luck if you’re thinking I’m sticking around!”
And yeah, I don’t care at all for Black Princess design. She looked fine just the way she was. In one spoiler thing, it showed her power up to be very similar to the design she has with her being in full control, so it makes me wonder if that spoiler was just to tease people for the actual design, or Twilight’s Black Princess was unintentional and if she gains control of the transformation, she’ll be the design shown in the spoiler. But it’s as you said, she more likely is going to be reform in around episodes 23 or 24.
I’m starting to think they’ll just end the series short and just have a spin off of the series to finish the rest of the year. Like they finish Dyspear, another bad guy shows up for just enough time to finish the year or maybe Dyspear is just the first arc and the last arc is just small where they fight off the main bad guy that has their own tricks up their sleeve and that will end it.
And Damn It! These two weeks better fly!

    1. Eva

I don’t see Shut as a major threat, Lock is mysterious so he is the one with the biggest possibility to potentially be stronger than he looks, or evolve to become stronger. But you’re right about Shut, it would destroy him but rather than jumping ships I think it would only make him hate the Precures even more as I am sure he would blame them heavily for taking Twilight away from him them. But hey, seeing him jump sides would be pretty cool! XD

You mean sort of like Pretty Cure 5 GoGo! > Yes! Pretty Cure 5 GoGo except they’d make it 23/25 and the second half would be with an entirely different villain? That would be interesting to see…

    Nooo my dear HaruHaru please don’t get sister-zoned. ; – ;

  6. HoHo

I decide to wait for Doremi sub. But I don’t mind reading the spoiler. lol Well, I agree that it’s hard to believe that just losing one princess would cause the entire kingdom to lose hope and fall easily. I do hope that it will be explained in more detail later why Twilight/Towa is so important. I also start to think that Dyspear may not be Twilight’s real mother. I suspect that Dyspear might be one of the former Precure. She might be from the same or different generation of previous Precure who we heard the voice in this episode. That would also explain why she had many Black Dress Up Keys. Because they are hers when she was Precure.
But I think that the most unbelievable in this episode was that Kanata could remember her sister at first glance! Seriously, I don’t think that they look alike at all. He must be a real siscon. lol I wonder how many years have passed since Dyspear took over Hope Kingdom? At that time, Towa was still a kid. But in earlier episodes, it did sound like Kanata sent Aroma and Puff to find Precure not too long after his kingdom was invaded by Dyspear. So, it took them many years to search for our heroines. Hmm…

This episode is reall good and full of reveals of the Prince Kanata and his sister (well, since I had rumors or spoilers, I expected that to happen). I like to see how Kanata owed Haruka so much for saving him of being consumed by darkness, and when the “Princess Trio” got separated and head for their fates with their companions or sidekicks (not being completely alone each of them).
It’s looks like to me that Twilight was confident at first, but then began to feel afraid (interestingly enough, this is the first time she really feels scared) when the Queen offered that mighty dark power. “Something is wrong with that”, that’s what I thought. But the episode explains why and I believe the next ones will explain even more.
Since you asked, I admit that Twilight’s Dark Precure design looks not very astonishing as I was expecting. I prefer her true look (gorgeous indeed). And I think it was indeed suppose to be more like the daughter of the Queen Despair and indeed to look intimidating as a princess of despair/darkness.
And I’m curious to see how will be the rivalry/competition for the goal of becoming the Grand Princess for both Haruka and Towa.
Oh my! It’s true that this is the 555th episode of the franchise! What a crucial pretty cure moment! 😀
Can’t wait to see the battle between Princesses once again! Too bad we have to wait longer until June 28 for the next episode! We’ll stay tuned both the series and this blog, Eva!

    Dear Eva
Congratulation on you covering until episode 20 of PreCure series now. The first one is HappinessCharge iirc. Hope you could still use your hand, because from your description of your illness I didn’t even want to imagine what if I suffer tendonitis as you.
Well looks like I’m late to comment, but since there is no PreCure today, maybe not too late I think. For the cadre (kokoda nick for PreCure villain henchman) I think it’s possible they will revive Close, because Dyspear could corrupt the perfume, maybe from the feather she could revive Close. And is it really Dyspear is Kanata’s mom? Will Kanata tell his feeling to Haruka and have live together with Towa? Will also Kanata admit to the world that he is siscon (Many VN have little sister as love interest iirc)?
Joking aside, I think Dyspear is the most mysterious for now, compared to Queen Mirage, which looks weak imo and you could easily tell that she was brainwashed by Deep Mirror. If Dyspear is brainwashed, then we beg the answer for who or what is the culprit behind the incident? For now I think the most likely suspect is The Darkness which sealed by previous Princess PreCure iirc. I think we should wait for now.
PS Damn 7 days is very long
